Has Kareena broken up with Saif?

Post the success of 'Jab We Met', Kareena Kapoor has been all over the place.

Her relationship with Chotey Nawab Saif Ali Khan and the fact that they were seen joint at the hip at loads of places also made sure that it was so.

Shoots and social gatherings kept her in the news, but the movie for which she developed her size zero frame-'Tashan' flopped badly.

Only the Diwali release 'Gomaal Returns' made money but then the credit for the same doesn't go to her fully.

After all, it was a multi-starrer with a lot of boy bonding.

This sort of depressed the actress who thought that her career is going downhill and that's why she's decided to make her high profile relationship low profile now.

In the New Year she's realized that being in the media glare all the time with Saif is harming her.

So she's decided to play it safe and is not breaking up completely. Instead she's keeping her private life away from the media.

Well, it seems Kareena has realized what was needed to be realized. Let's see if this strategy actually helps her out in the long run or not.

"So, I just spoke to Shah Rukh," he said. The superstar also visited the hospital and promised to introduce them to his kids as soon as they were out of the hospital. Zubair, the elder cousin of the children told the magazine, "Amina keeps asking me if I have spoken with Shah Rukh and when is he going to take her to meet his daughter.

After bikini act Minissha goes for plastic surgery

Minissha Lamba kept on displaying her girl next door image until she got all fed up of it and suddenly decided to turn sexy. She donned a bikini and itsy bitsy clothes in the Id release 'Kidnap' but unfortunately fell flat on her face.

Actually this dame neither has the body nor the attitude to turn hot. The buzz is that now she's gone under the knife to get a better nose.

Minissha is rumoured to have undergone plastic surgery to get a thin and pointed nose. The actress felt she had a broad nose which didn't look good on her face.

'To hell with natural beauty', that seems to be the mantra in Bollywood right now.

Now it's well known that both Koena Mitra and Shilpa Shetty look unnatural because of their nose jobs. Koena recently made a very candid confession that her nose job was a huge mistake that distorted her face, compelling her to go into a shell and avoid being in public for months.

Shilpa has never admitted to having had such complications but her fake nose has always looked unnatural on her face. Same goes for the likes of Rakhi Sawant and Sherlyn Chopra who look made up most of the time.

Well the chances of this nose job actually helping Minissha's sagging career looks difficult. Let's wait and watch.

Why no one raised any eyebrows when Ranbir showed his bum

Bipasha brought in her birthday at an unknown destination. She was surprisingly quiet and reluctant to talk.

"It's been fantastic year for me. Personally and professionally. Family is great. Boyfriend is great.

Everything is fine. I couldn't have asked for anything more this year. I'm actually surprised the year went so well. I even got time to watch my niece and nephew grow. Yes, I've spent one more beautiful year productively.."

Suggest that she needs to have children of her own, Bipasha baulks, "No no I don't have the patience for kids. I can't bear to have my 7-year old nephew around for more than two hours.

He's a talkative brat. My 1-year niece is an a item number. She dances superbly to the worst songs. So yes another actress coming up in my film. And she's the first light-eyed fair-skinned Basu girl in the family."

What pleases her was the success John had achieved. And the label of the 'sexiest' for her man pleases her even more. "There has to be one person who's the sexiest every year. In 2007 Eastern Eye voted me the sexiest. In 2008 it's John.

If they didn't vote him the sexiest they'd look really foolish. I mean John is the hottest. No one is going to look hotter than him for a long time. And I'm not saying that because I'm in a relationship with him."

Ask her how she felt about John letting it all hang out in Dostana, and Bipasha chuckles, "Ranbir Kapoor showed his bum (in Saawariya). How come no one raised any eyebrows? It was not so drastic with John.

He has a fantastic body. If a woman on a beach is appreciated why not a man on the beach? If you are comfortable with your body and you can carry it off with grace like John did, why not?

I'm proud of what John has achieved. I've been with him from the time we shot Aetbaar and Jism. We started dating on Aetbaar."

Bipasha says she was really proud of her bikini shot in Dhoom 2.

"At no point did I look cheesy. There was no heaving thrusting. It was just a healthy shot of a woman on the beach. Incidentally I came out of the water in Jism wearing a thick white dress. Such was the impact that people think I wore a bikini."

Salman's big Valentines Day plan for Katrina Kaif

Valentines Day is a month away but Salman Khan is already getting ready to shower an expensive gift on girlfriend Katrina Kaif.

Though there are rumors of a rift, things still don’t seem to be over for the two.

The buzz is that Salman has painted her many times while she’s been visiting the sets of his films and accompanying him on some of his mid-night adventures and has even rode an auto rickshaw with him.

Now Sallu’s big plan is to surprise her with a lavish Valentine’s Day gift.

He has chosen a plush apartment in Bandra and plans to gift it to her on Feb 14.

The flat’s location and its architecture go with Salman’s taste. He’s thinking of roping in Suzanne Roshan, Hrithik’s wife, to do the interiors.

The flat has a spacious living room space for paintings and portraits. It has two balconies overlooking the city in different directions. Apparently Salman wants to decorate the flat with some of his paintings before handing over the keys to Katrina next month.

Well, keeping in mind things like that, it seems all’s well in Sal-Kat’s paradise. So should we say, all the talks about Sallu being laid astray by Asin and the like are just rumors?

Kangana strips completely for Raaz - The Mystery Continues

The buzz is that Kangana Ranaut has stripped completely in her upcoming horror flick 'Raaz - The Mystery Continues'.

Well, this girl sure has played her cards right. She very well knows what the audience wants from her

The movie is now under the Censor scanner for a nude scene that has been filmed on her.

The scene shows Kangana in a bathtub. According to reports, Kangana had shot the scene with a skin coloured body suit. But then the audiences would still think that Kangana has bared it all for the scene.

It may now be completely chopped off.

Producer Mukesh Bhatt wants a U/A certificate but the Board is not complying.

Apparently after the screening of the film for the Censor Board, there was an argument between some members and Mukesh Bhatt regarding the certification as the producer wanted the 'U/A' certificate to have a large audience base for the flick.

The Censor Board on its part has confirmed that they have asked Vishesh Films to chop Kangana's nude scene. The movie would get an 'A' (Adults Only) certificate because of its spooky content as confirmed by a Board official.

The film starring Emraan Hashmi and Adhyayan is set for release on January 23 but Mukesh Bhatt hasn't given up yet. Let's wait and watch to find out the fate of the movie and Kangana's striptease.

Big Fight: It's Priyanka vs Kareena once again

Now that the ultra-prolific and passionately-productive Shyam Benegal has decided to revive his costliest project Chamki, a desi version of Georges Bizet's 1845 opera Carmen the question is, who will play the challenging title role of a free-spirited fiery-tempered gypsy?

Though Benegal is at the moment reluctant to reveal details, sources close to the project claim that the closest contenders for the role are Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.

Both have already been approached in the past for Chamki. But chose to opt out before the final yes for various reasons.

Says the source, "Kareena was excited to begin with. She was supremely charged by the role and what Shyam Babu had done with her sister Karisma in Zubeida.

But then she opted out, as she often does from offbeat challenges like Deepa Mehta's Water and Rituparno Ghosh's Raincoat pleading it was too early for her to attempt something so unconventional.

Then came Priyanka Chopra who was quite kicked about the part. But she and the film's then-producer Sanjay Gupta had a fall-out earlier when she had said no to his Musafir. The role then went to Urmila Matondkar who had monetary issues with the producer."

With the film changing hands from Sanjay Gupta to Reliance it is undertood that money is no longer an issue.

If sources are to be believed Chamki has now gone back to the two original choices Kareena and Priyanka.

Says the source, "Kareena continues to have reservations about non-mainstream cinema. She was recently offered another heroine-oriented film by Rituparno Ghosh. She declined.

Barring Pritish Nandy Communications Chameli she has never returned to non-mainstream cinema. But now Chamki, set in Rajasthan, is being re-designed as a big broad epic musical with super choreography and lavish songs by Javed Akhtar and A R Rahman. No expense will be spared to make Chamki a big blockbuster."

According to sources Priyanka more than Kareena is the natural choice to play Chamki since the role requires a trained dancer.

Priyanka when contacted said she was open to the offer. "But I read the script ages ago. The whole project now has to evaluated afresh. And who wouldn't want to work with Shyam Benegal?"

Katrina's big embarassment in New York

Katrina Kaif and John Abraham might be big stars in India. But they are nobodies in New York. This they realized only a while ago.

Interestingly these two are acting in a movie called 'New York'. Such is the irony of the situation.

The two were denied entry to a nightclub in New York when they were trying to join a party for a crew member on their movie 'New York'.

A source says, "When they were stopped at the nightclub, they tried to reason with the bouncers that they were well known and respected people from India. John and Katrina told them that they were film stars from India but the bouncers only stared at them. The bouncers had no clue what John and Katrina were talking about."

But the experience hasn't stopped Katrina to encourage her sister to study in New York.

The buzz is that she has been encouraging her sister, Isabelle Kaif who wishes to join the industry in a year or two, to sign up at the Lee Strasberg Theatre School in New York.

And despite her wooden acting in all her films, things in India have been going great. She's been nominated for a Best Indian Award along with others such as Manmohan Singh and Aamir Khan. She thinks it's a great honour to be considered to be in the same league as great achievers.

Well, in spite of everything, Kat sure has lots of reasons to smile about!

Nadiadwala plans a star-studded premiere for Kambakht Ishq

Filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala, who has collaborated with Hollywood biggies Sylvester Stallone, Brandon Routh and Denise Richards for his forthcoming film "Kambakht Ishq", has invited them for a grand premiere of the film in India later this year. He hopes it will help wipe away the traumatic memories of the Mumbai terror strikes from the tourists' mind.

"It's a do or die thing for me after 26/11. I don't feel like a Bollywood producer at the moment. I'm reacting as an Indian," Nadiadwala told IANS.

Post-26/11, the premiere of the Akshay Kumar-Kareena Kapoor starrer has become a show of strength for Nadiadwala as an Indian more than a producer. Invitations have been sent out to Sylvester Stallone, Brandon Routh and Denise Richards.

"Let's just say I want my Hollywood team to come and erase 26/11 from Mumbai's tourist map. I'm going to leave no stone unturned to make sure Stallone and others go back with only the fondest memories of Mumbai.

"If six months ago I'd have laid out the red carpet for the Hollywood members of the cast, now I'm putting my entire production machinery and powers of hospitality on the block.

"The 'Kambhakt Ishq' premiere is not about our entertainment industry any more. It's about Mumbai and India. I want Hollywood to come to Mumbai and taste our hospitality. Nothing has changed in the country. We're still as warm and welcoming as we used to be," said Nadiadwala.

Over 20 foreigners were killed in the Mumbai terror strikes.

"'Kambhakt Ishq' is not just an exciting business venture after what happened to Mumbai in November. Suddenly all of us have become more sensitised. We need to prove a point to the world and to ourselves... I realise there's a black mark against Mumbai's name on the tourist map after 26/11. We will erase it. And to do that we need to invite the outside world to come to Mumbai and see that Mumbai is safe. I promise you, Stallone won't go back with any apprehensions about our city."

Katrina-Ranbir's late night outing

Deepika Padukone had been away most of the last 7 days, attending screenings of “Chandni Chowk To China” in North America and Britain. Meanwhile, Salman Khan has been busy shooting for “London Dreams” and has not been in Mumbai too.

So what did we hear about their respective partners?

That Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif met up for a late dinner at a five-star hotel in Mumbai on January 11. They are said to have arrived separately but dined together in a private setting. They were reported to be in a relaxed and chatty mood.

The duo is co-starring in two movies and their growing closeness has reportedly already upset Ranbir’s girl, Deepika, leading to some tiffs between them in the recent past.

So wonder what she’d say to this one?

I feel disgusted by Slumdog Millionaire: Amitabh Bachchan

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has slammed Danny Boyle's Golden Globe award winning underdog drama “Slumdog Millionaire” for showing India in poor light.

“If 'Slumdog Millionaire' projects India as Third World dirty underbelly developing nation and causes pain and disgust among nationalists and patriots, let it be known that a murky underbelly exists and thrives even in the most developed nations, ” Amitabh said in a posting on his blog Wednesday from Paris, France.

“Its just that the 'Slumdog Millioanire' idea authored by an Indian and conceived and cinematically put together by a westerner, gets creative global recognition, ” he added.

The 66-year-old also talked about the changing trend in recognition of Indian cinema.

“The commercial escapist world of Indian cinema had vociferously battled for years, on the attention paid and the adulation given to the legendary Satyajit Ray... and not a word of appreciation for the entertaining mass-oriented box office blockbusters that were being churned out from Mumbai.

“Ray portrayed reality. While, the other - escapism, fantasy and incredulous posturing. Unimpressive for Cannes and Berlin and Venice (film festivals), ” he explained.

He further wrote: “But look how rapidly all that is changing. Dedicated TV channels running Hindi cinema on prime timings. Premieres at Leicester Square (referring to 'Chandni Chowk To China'), the home of all Hollywood royalty, thronged by hundreds on the street in cold biting weather.”

I hope Deepika does not beat me: Akshay

Action hero Akshay Kumar says he helped co-star Deepika Padukone match his action skills in their forthcoming film "Chandni Chowk To China" but made sure she came "second best" to him.

"She (Deepika) once said she wants to be the female Akshay. I hope she doesn't beat me. She has done a good job in the film and I helped her here and there. That way I made sure she always came out second best to me, " Akshay told in an email interview.

Though Akshay was slightly apprehensive in helping Deepika considering "how good women are at picking up skills", he was quite sure he wouldn't be "outshone" by his leading lady.

"Chandni Chowk To China", slated to release Friday, features the two actors in a story of an Indian cook, Sidhu, played by Akshay, who goes to China and is mistaken for a martial arts expert.

The film is apparently based partly on Akshay's own life as he was also born in Chandni Chowk in Delhi and grew up to go to Bangkok to work as a chef.

About his character in the film, he said: "I love my character. It's so much like me. Come to think of it, Sidhu is a man I was once in Bangkok. Though the purpose of the journey is different but the drama is definitely the same. I have fought as many villains in this movie as I have in my career."

"Chandni Chowk..." is being talked about for its aggressive promotional activities as well as for the association of international names like renowned Chinese actor Gordon Liu and action choreographer Dee Dee Ku.

For Akshay, training under Ku, who has worked for films like "Kill Bill", "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "Matrix" among others, was like "squeezing blood from a stone".

"He is super quick. Whenever he would have crazy stunt ideas, one couldn't figure if he was serious or joking. He is incredible in his field. And I trusted him with my life.

"If I would have met him before, my life would have been different. He has only worked with the best. So pleasing him was like squeezing blood from a stone. When he used to say 'Akshay the take is okay', that used to be a huge compliment coming from him, " he said.

Sharing screen space with Gordon Liu was like a childhood dream come true for the actor.

"You know how fans react when they see Aamir Khan and how they run behind him. That's how I see Gordon Liu. I have admired him and his martial arts since the beginning. It was superb working with him, " said Akshay.

"Chandni Chowk..." also holds the credit of being the first Indian film to be shot at the Great Wall of China.

"We had a fabulous experience shooting at the legendary monument of the world - the Great Wall of China. It was spiritually breathtaking and probably the highlight of our shoot, " he shared.

A part of the film has also been shot in Chandni Chowk. Akshay has a lot of fond memories of the popular market place.

"Shooting in Chandni Chowk was a unique experience. I was born there. I thought it was sheer madness to shoot there in the narrow lanes but people there were overwhelming. I am an expert regarding the food available there so I used to treat the unit of the film to the best delicacies there, " he said.

No one can match Hrithik in Bollywood: Isha

She is known as the diva of the dancing world; the other rules the beat. But prolific dancer Isha Sharvani thinks no one can match actor Hrithik Roshan when it comes to shaking a leg.

Isha waltzed with the actor in Parle's Hide and Seek biscuit ad and she once again teams up with the actor in the forthcoming film "Luck By Chance".

"It was such an amazing experience to perform with Hrithik again. He's such a great performer. I remember, for the 'Hide and Seek' ad, our practice session lasted for three days and one should see him practise. No one can match his steps. He is so full of energy and is so much fun to work with," Isha told over phone from Mumbai.

Apart from Hrithik, Isha assures that "people will get to see a little bit of dancing" from her too in the film.

Directed by debutante Zoya Akhtar, "Luck By Chance" is a menagerie of characters and activities about making it big in Bollywood. Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, the film is releasing Jan 30.

Farhan plays the main lead and the cast also has Konkona Sen Sharma, Dimple Kapadia, Rishi Kapoor, Juhi Chawla and an ensemble of almost everyone in Bollywood in walk-on parts.

Throwing light on her character in the film, the 23-year-old said: "This is a whole film about making it big in Bollywood and I am a part of that struggle. I play the daughter of a diva played by Dimple Kapadia."

Rumours are also rife that "Luck By Chance" is Bollywood's next "Om Shanti Om", considering its behind the scenes portrayal of the film industry.

But Isha slammed all such speculations and said: "The film is very different from 'Om Shanti Om'. The plots of both the movies are very different. 'Om Shanti Om' was much more of a musical. While 'Luck By...' has a different take on Bollywood. It's much more real.

"I think Zoya has really put together a fantastic script and characters in the movie. The film is unique in its approach."

Isha considers her getting a role in "Luck By Chance" as a matter of "luck".

"My getting this film is totally a matter of luck. I had no idea that Zoya would sign me for the film. I feel so lucky that I got to work with her in her maiden venture," she said.

However, the actress also had some sore moments while shooting for the film.

"When I was doing a ring sequence in the film, I was suspended from a hook in the air and the costume I was wearing had a lot of diamonds on it. As a result, I ended up being completely scratched because of the diamonds but I am glad the sequence came out really lovely," she said.

Isha forayed into Bollywood with Subhash Ghai's dud "Kisna" in 2005 and has since been seen in lesser-known and back to back flops like "Darwaza Bandh Rakho", "Rocky: The Rebel" and "Good Boy, Bad Boy" in 2006.

In 2008, she featured in Ajay Devgan's directorial debut "U, Me Aur Hum".

She doesn't have any other films in her kitty at present, but is concentrating on a new dance show for smal screen with her mother, renowned dancer and choreographer Daksha Seth.

"It's based on martial arts. We are thinking about a name right now for the show as we haven't zeroed in on anything yet. However, the show will be aired from April 3 onwards," she said.

On being asked if she has any plans of stepping into her mother's footsteps - that is, choreography - she said: "I am not interested in any activity other than dancing and acting. So, no choreography or anything else for me in the future too.

"I am a dancer and an actress and I am game for just the two as both are really and equally important to me," she said.

The actress is not bogged down by the pressure in Bollywood and tries to balance dancing and acting.

"I always think one should balance one's time and I think I am being able to do that between both my dancing and acting."

Chandni Chowk To China: Maar-Saala Arts

Starring Mithin Chakraborty, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Ranvir Shorey
Directed by Nikhil Advani
Rating : * ½

This is a film about maar-saala arts, not to be confused with martial arts which Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan practice with such splendid and subtle skills on screen.

Akshay Kumar cannot be accused of the sins of subtlety. Not at all. He goes from a sweaty cook in Chandni Chowk to a cheesy fighter in China with hammers tongs and indecipherable tongues.

What lies between the extremities represented by the two Oriental cultures has to be seen to be believed….or, not seen to be not borne. But then we in country love to torture ourselves. And most of us do exactly what we are told not to.

So go for this one. And find out why 'Bollywood' (that horribly inappropriate wannabe term used to describe Hindi mainstream cinema) cannot compete with its technically savvy upcountry cousins from the West, or even China and Hong Kong.

When Jackie Chan kicks ass, man… he really kicks! No two ways about it. Akshay Kumar divides his time between being an action hero and a comic virtuoso, tripping over the line that divides the two genres with little or no scope to contain the fall as the screenplay plunges lower and lower into the depths of inanity.

Writer Sridhar Raghavan, known for his smart slick cerebral takes on formulistic conventions spins a web of incidents chronicling the journey of Sidhu the protagonist from a cook in Chandni Chowk to the satirical samurai in Shanghai is littered with laughable incidents and episodes that appear more to be part of a clumsy sitcom lampooning the Chinese than purported large-screen spectacle bringing China to Bollywood.

Director Nikhil Advani (who displayed pockets of sensitivity in his innovative but over-long Salaam-e-Ishq two years ago) takes the hero into what looks like a carryover of the Chambal ravines in China.

Honestly, if this film had been shot anywhere in the world it would've been just as bland and fatuous. What compounds the woefully inadequate narration is the abject lack of connectivity between the protagonist and the audience.

Not even for a second do we feel a rush of empathetic adrenaline for the culturally-displaced Sidhu who encounters all kinds of emaciated goons, terrorized by a suited, booted and largely-uprooted villain named Hojo (Gordon Lieu) who is no Gabbar Singh or Mogambo.

Just an aging goon in a black suit who doesn't know it's bad manners to pee in public, specially in the hero's face.

Brutality when done with grace can be extremely arresting. We saw that recently in Ghajini. Chandni Chowk To China does the cause of cinematic violence a great deal of disservice.

The internationally-renowned action directors who pool in their might seem unsure of where to position the action. Perched on the Great Wall Of China, Akshay Kumar and his fellow fighters (and that includes the desi Lucy Lieu Deepika Padukone) slug it out like drunken revelers on a rowdy spree.

Elegance is in short supply in the film, except when Deepika playing twin sisters (told apart mainly by their hair, one of them perpetually forgets to braid it properly) waltzes in with a light step and twinkling eye. She seems to have fun. We don't. And that's mainly because the scriptwriter forgot to include the audience in his circle of entertainment.

Large chunks of this 'Adventures Of Sidhu in blunderland' saga leave us cold and unresponsive. And when the final climactic fight between the hero and the villain occurs, Akshay Kumar decides to turn it into a comic romp in the middle of the climac. We are more dazed than dazzled by the baffling mood swings in the plot.

Yes, there are moments that hold your attention. Sidhu's martial arts training with twin Deepika Padukone's Chinese dad (who looks like he could do with a wash) are superbly orchestrated.

That touch of unstrained comicality in stressful times that the narration apparently strives to achive, eludes the film by a wide margin. Most of the time you are looking at a film that does appalling things to Indo-Chinese relations. Not to mention our traditional perception of mainstream masala-maar ke entertainment.

Martial arts are turned into maar-saala arts. And you leave the film wondering what it was meant to be. A bird, a plane or just a pathetic parody of Jackie Chan's comic vendetta sagas.

Chandni Chowk To China isn't just no-brainer. Its lobotomized laughter can make you wish for anesthesia. At least you'd know where the numbness is coming from.

Govinda wants Bhansali for his angel Narmada

2008 has been a decisive year for Govinda. After working with Mani Ratnam he has decided to work only with directors of a certain caliber.

And now in 2009 Govinda has far more to look forward to. His daughter Narmada will finally be facing the camera, and that too with a home production.

Confirming these radical developments in his life Govinda says, "After weighing all the pros and cons I decided I'm the best person to do the needful. I don't want anyone else no matter how well-meaning to take the credit for launching my daughter. So yes, Narmada will finally be launched anytime in 2009. "

The director to do the needful for Govinda will be finalized in the next couple of weeks. Those on Govinda's wish-list are Nikhil Advani and Shaad Ali.

"Ideally, " says the anxious father, "I'd have liked Narmada to be launched by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He's the among our best. But since that's not possible we're looking at some other names. My daughter has to be directed by someone who has a vision and an aesthetic sense and also respects the work that I do. "

Continuing to speak on his favourite subject Govinda says, "I've struggled all my life and I continue to do so. All kinds of strange stories are planted about me.

The question is not, why. But by whom? Narmada has also faced very harsh and hurtful incidents(she was involved in a terrible road accident) so early in her life. I feel today she's emotionally equipped to face the camera. "

While focusing on his daughter's career Govinda has also taken some hard career decisions for himself. "Six of my releases are ready. But now, after my so-called comeback I've again stopped signing new films.

After working with Mani Ratnam I can't go back to doing chalta hai roles in routine films. I'll work only with directors who are as organized and disciplined as Mani Ratnam. He's clear-headed about everything. "

Shooting in the jungles wasn't easy.

"But it wasn't so tough either, " laughs Govinda. "I've spent my childhood in a village. So I'm used to being in cut off from city life. Shooting in the jungles with Mani, Abhishek and Aishwarya was very invigorating."

Says Govinda, "For now I'm saying no to all future assignments until I get something comparable with Mani's film.

But I'm in negotiation with Ravi Chopra for his next film after Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai which is now complete and being released in February, and for the sequel to Partner with Salman and David. But for now I'm focusing on giving my daughter the best career launch any father can give. "

Raaz 2 will scare the living daylight out of you

Emraan Hashmi has great hopes from 'Raaz - The Mystery Continues'. Not just the film brings him back with Mohit Suri after 'Awarapan', 'Kalyug' and 'Woh Lamhe', it also sees him in yet another Bhatt film where music always plays in integral part of the narrative.

After a hardcore drama 'Jannat', which proved to be a superhit at the box office and was also a huge musical success, Emraan Hashmi promises that his next 'Raaz - The Mystery Continues' will raise the bar for horror flicks.

Not just would it give Indian audience something to see on the big screen that has never been witnessed before for a Bollywood flick, it would also scare the living daylights of all in the auditorium.

"Mohit Suri is someone who believes in making realistic and dramatic films. For the first time he has gone all out in making an out and out commercial horror film.

This is one genre that he hasn't been exposed before and this is why he has worked extra hard on the subject", replies Emraan when questioned around Mohit's progression from 'Zeher' to 'Kalyug' to 'Woh Lamhe' to 'Awarapan' and now 'Raaz - The Mystery Continues'.

How exactly has Mohit moved on?

"Well, the sheer manner in which he has handled the subtext of 'Raaz - The Mystery Continues' is superb. He has only got better and better! The film has allowed him a lot of dramatic space and to add to that, due to his exposure to some classics from horror genre, he has played around with visuals and sound", justifies Emraan.

Demonstrating his fondness for Mohit both as a friend and a professional, Emraan says, "The pace and the look of the film is extraordinary and he has grown over the past couple of years. I can say this because I have seen this right in front of my eyes since the days of 'Zeher'."

While Emraan is indeed excited about working in his first ever horror flick, he also mentions that the music of the film is better than the first in the series - 'Raaz'! Whenever the name 'Raaz - The Mystery Continues', comparisons with 'Raaz' (that had some fantabulous score by Nadeem Shravan), are inevitable.

"That's bound to happen and we were quite tense as well since the original music was so popular", Emraan gets candid here, "Nadeem Sharvan had made history with 'Raaz' so we had to be on par with it at least, if not better than that."

He has another point of view as well, "Moreover, the competition was not just with 'Raaz' but also number of my own films as well as Vishesh Films that have always boasted of great music. It's a pretty decent list in fact and we all are very proud of it.

Thankfully, each of the composers for 'Raaz - The Mystery Continues' has done a fabulous job with the film's music."

Tell him that songs like 'Mahi Ve' and 'O Jaana' are already shooting up the charts and Emraan says with a smile, "We waited for a long time to get the best tracks and their current popularity has proven once again that the score will live on for years!"

Case against John's film

If he is not showing his butt then that ain't hot, at least that what it seems.

Reliance's Big Pictures, that was all set to distribute “Aashayein”, has filed a case against the film's producers Percept Picture Company and T-Series because they felt the film has not measured up to their expectations.

The case has been filed in the Delhi High Court.

Percept Picture Company and T-Series are now in a fix because they can't release the film until the case is resolved.

The movie, directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, was ready sometime back and has been getting delayed for some reason or the other.

“Aashayein” is the story of a compulsive gambler who one day learns that he has only 90 days to live. Wanting to make the most of his last days, he leaves everything behind and moves into a soothing hospice. The inmates he meets change his outlook on life. It was Deepika’s birthday on January 5 and Ranbir joined her for dinner. That's why they skipped Daboo Ratnani's calendar launch as well. Earlier in the day, Deepika went to the Siddhivinayak temple with her parents.

Among other gifts he gave her was something Deepika really wanted: Ranbir gave up smoking, after being a smoker for many years.

Many people had tried to make him quit but hadn’t succeeded. Finally, it did happen, for Deepika’s sake.

Mughda Godse refuses to be in Roommates

Mughda Godse has refused Jag Mundra's suspense thriller “Roommates” as she was not being paid the price she wants.

The model-turned-actress was approached to play one of the two protagonists in the film but she refused, as price was an issue with her.

After being widely praised for her acting in he debut film, “Fashion”, Mughda feels she is asking for a price she deserves and Jag Mundra is not willing to pay that kind of price for the film.

Mundra has other options. He has short -listed four ladies - Neha Dhupia, Raima Sen, Neetu Chandra and Sonal Chauhan - out of which he will select the two leads.

Also post the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, Pakistani actor Mikaal Zulfikar, has been thrown out of “Roommates”. It seems no Pakistani actors will be allowed in Bollywood anymore.

With his cast undecided, Mundra is definitely stuck just a month prior to “Roommates” going on the floors.

Emraan, Kangna, Adhyayan together for an electrifying music video

view RAAZ THE MYSTERY CONTINUES videos

Trust Bhatts to not just keep churning hit music but also attach innovative music videos to some of their best tracks. In case of RAAZ - THE MYSTERY CONTINUES, they have done it twice in a matter of just around 10 days with first 'Maahi Ve' and now 'O Jaana'. While the original version of 'Maahi Ve' was the first to hit the screens a few weeks back, its video starring Emraan Hashmi in center stage came very recently. Hardly has the euphoria on the rock version of 'Maahi Ve' settled down and Bhatts are ready to unveil another music video for 'O Jaana'.

This writer had an exclusive dekko at the song and it has to be admitted that music video for the remix version of 'O Jaana' is the classiest ever to have been churned out of Vishesh Films. The track has a New Age look and feel to it with the principal cast of the film - Emraan Hashmi, Kangna Ranaut and Adhyayan Suman - being a part of it. Also, while Emraan Hashmi (obviously) holds the center stage, Adhyayan and Kangna aren't left behind either and have a definite role to play in the video.

Emraan Hashmi does what he is best at and has been doing forever in each of his chartbuster songs for years while Adhyayan Suman too looks far more confident in his entire cool avtar. However, the stunner of the show is Kangna Ranaut who gets to lip synch the English portion of the song and looks like a true import from the West, what with her costumes, make up and the body language showcasing a different facet of her persona. In fact the next time she mentions that she is just a small town girl from the North side of the country, she would certainly be questioned by many since she hardly looks like an Indian in the first place in the song.

With electrifying laser work, special effects and CG on display, the music video is the kind that should play on in up-market discs and pubs due to the immense dance appeal that it carries. Moreover, the cutting edge edit patter in 'O Jaana' makes it a track that you want to revisit multiple number of times. Have a look!

Amul spreads over Aamir 'Ghajini' Khan

With the dawn of a very happy and a cheerful New Year 2009, one is left with only memories of the year gone by. As one may remember, 2008 happened to be one of the 'impactful' years for Bollywood. Because, besides many other things, it also saw the transformation of the chocolate hero Aamir into a muscular 'dude with an attitude' in the smash hit film Ghajini.

It really becomes needless to say that the Ghajini mania is spreading far and wide, faster than Shoaib Akhtar's yorkers! And for those who thought that it was only the media that worked faster than the speed of light, then, you better think again, because we discovered that there's someone (besides the media, of course) who work even faster than the proverbial speed. And that's none other than the super brilliant guys at Amul, who wasted no time in bringing out their latest ad campaign (as they always do), that has Aamir Khan's cartoon in his 8-packs with scribbling (read 'reminders') on his hands and body which read as 'I slice bread'', ' I make sandwich', while his chest reads 'Get Amul'.

We must say that it is indeed an interesting ad. But the guys at Amul should also remember that one may forget to breathe for a moment, but how can one forget Amul, all thanks to the timely and topical hammerings...we mean…spreadings! Kudos Amul, for 'buttering' us all over again!

‘A girl doesn’t look for six-packs in men’

SOS friends! Hurricane Katrina is here. Sweeping through hearts of men, women and youth alike. She’s the storm and she’s the siren. Yes! Katz

is making mercury rise like never before – with hot films, a soaring fan following and an army of young supporters that are making the hottie a formidable storm to weather.

No wonder I wore my shining armour and decided to chat with this vibrant, sassy, beautiful lass with the incredible smile about Salman, SRK and more. But I came away feeling (and smiling) like Akshay Kumar in Welcome — in need of rescuing by a sensitive Cancerian beauty.

So Katz, your P.S. to success is already being written — criticism ... now people say you look ‘too perfect’!
Frankly, I feel a little imperfection makes for an almost perfect face, like Madhubala and Madhuri who look so charming and real. I think someone like Claudia Schiffer looks too perfect, while Cindy Crawford’s small imperfections make her more likeable.

Hey now! Aishwarya is considered a ‘perfect’ beauty...
I think Aishwarya is extremely talented. I like the way she conducts herself. I enjoy her movies and I think she is an icon of Indian cinema. I think Aishwarya is cool.

Your Dubai tour with SRK was a big success. However we’re second-guessing about your dosti with King Khan himself?
I have a very high respect for him, though I don’t know him very well. He’s a big star and I was delighted he came for my party. He speaks very little and is extremely polite, shy and charming. Since I’ve not done any movies with him, I guess it’ll take me a while to get to know him; unlike Akshay with whom I have done four movies and share an incredible rapport.

Akki-pairing equals lucky-pairing, right?
Yes! We’ve been very lucky together. Akshay Kumar is a fantastic co-star. He’s been one of the best actors to learn from; and the best thing is that he’s so humble and down-to-earth. With greater success he’s changed even more positively. I have an amazing comfort level with him.

And what of your beautiful relationship with Salman?
What can I say about Salman? I’ve known him forever. He’s one of the most generous human beings I’ve met. I take his advice for everything. He either likes you or you don’t exist for him. I’m a private person who believes in keeping my innermost feelings away from public view. Salman shows whatever he wants to; but he has a heart of gold.

And who has the best male physique today?
If I want to be politically correct I can say all our heroes have good bodies today. Everyone looks good because all of them work hard on their bodies. One of the first was Salman. And it is always tough to maintain a good body for so long. Akshay also has one of the finest lean and tough bodies. Aamir has developed a great physique. This is remarkable because it’s tougher to build such a body and maintain it after a certain age. But, frankly, what a girl looks for in a man are not his six-packs, his looks, or his age difference – it’s just his kindness and his charm that win women over.

Why Shah Rukh’s romancing debutants

Shah Rukh is the King, no doubt. He’s proven this on several occasions. Even Newsweek, in its recent Most Powerful Men in Entertainment list, put him at #41.

Yet, in his last two films, he’s acted alongside debutants. In 2007, he romanced Deepika in Om Shanti Om and last month, we saw him dancing with Anushka Sharma in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

So, why is the Baadshah not acting with established heroines like Rani and Priti Zinta? Well, the King does have an answer. He says, “Well I have crossed 40, and will soon have to retire. The senior actors will also have to do the same. So I thought I’d work with some younger girls. So later, when I’m old, they’d still want to work with me. Now do you understand why I am launching these new girls?”

Well, the workaholic Shah Rukh certainly has his retirement plan figured out.

Emraan Hashmi loves horror flicks more than romantic films

Emraan HashmiKnown as serial kisser in Bollywood Emraan Hashmi has enjoyed his playboy image in most of his films. Except his last film Awarpan where he tried to be different but failed to attract his fans. Apparently the actor himself feels that his naughty streak was missing in the film. Now he promises to continue his much popular playboy image.

Emraan is looking forward to work on Mohit Suri’s Raaz 2. This sequel of Raaz will once again have Emraan and Kangana Ranaut together in main lead. This will be their second movie after Gangster.

Apprently Emraan who has tried different genres, reveals that he loves the Horror genre. Also feels that the horror genre has never been explored properly in Bollywood.

According to him Raaz 2 will be unlike other Bollywood horror flicks. “Bollywood’s scary movies have been all about loud sounds and hideous makeup but Raaz 2 is going to change the definition of horror films. The scenes in the film are scary as we are actually shooting in the creepiest of places.”

Being thrilled of shooting at such creepy places, Emraan reminisces “We have shot in a place called Panghar in Rajathan. We were told not to shoot there after sunset by the villagers. We were amazed to see that there was not a single government office in the area because it is said to be a haunted place. We have shot at such places to make the film authentic.”

Big B finally shoots for Aladdin

Sujoy Ghosh’s Aladdin was supposed to release last month, but was postponed because Amitabh Bachchan, who plays Genie, could not find the time to shoot a few of his scenes. Now, after a three-month delay, the production house has announced that shooting will begin today.

“Yes, Mr. Bachchan has finally given us time. We were worried about the Bachchan dates. Because of his health and his other commitments, the film was pushed back.”

Amitabh was admitted to hospital on his birthday (11th October) and after a month’s rest, he started shooting first for Teen Patti.

Director Sujoy Ghosh said, “I was not at all worried about the completion of the film. Amitji is a very professional actor and I knew he’d keep his promise. Last October, things didn’t work out because of his health problem. It’s really great to see a senior actor get back to shape so quickly.

“We wanted to release the film during the Christmas season. But now we are planning on releasing it during the summer vacation (April-May, 09).”

Big B has also confirmed the shoot. In his blog, he writes, “The shooting of Aladdin beckons tomorrow (2nd Jan, 09). A song and the last days of the film. Shiamak Davar and his crew. Disciplined and worthy.”

My resolution is to be more caring towards my family, as the whole "Bigg Boss" experience and 26/11 attacks made me value them and realise that one can only trust one's family. My one gift? A film with Shah Rukh Khan. Hope god is listening.

Mona Singh:
No particular resolution. Just a list of things that I want to keep doing. As for gifts, unexpected gifts are the sweetest.

Rajeev Khandelwal: My resolution? To be a better citizen and to spread awareness among the youth to make our country the best.

"As a kid I used to dance on SRK's song from Baazigar" - Anushka Sharma

The best compliment Anushka Sharma received for her performance in Rab Ne Bana De Jodi came from Yash Chopra. "He came up to me and said mine was one of the best performances he had seen by a debutant. He placed his hand on my head while saying this. So he was blessing me."

She was also not presented with the poise finesse and sophistication associated with the typical Yash Raj heroine. Anushka defends the banner stoutly. "You're right. Even when girls are presented as seedhi-saadhi in a Yash Raj film she's glamorous. And coming from a glam background I wouldn't have minded being glossy in my first film. But you know what? This was such a huge opportunity. I couldn't have asked for more. I fell in love with my character and the film. It's a dream role for any debutante. I can always get into chiffon saris in the next Yash Raj film. Or the one after that..."

It's interesting how Anushka got Rab Ne Bana De Jodi. "I was auditioned and short-listed. Then Adi auditioned me personally and I was on."

Ask her how she managed to be so natural in her first film and Anushka laughs, "All the while I was modeling in Bangalore. Maybe there was an actor lurking within me. I'm crazy about my modeling work. I love the ramp and the backstage banter. I moved to Mumbai a year ago. Movies were not a priority. I don't come from a film background, don't know how the industry works. I didn't know anyone here."

But Anushka was always a huge Shah Rukh fan. "My dad is in the army and when they would've these functions in the mess, I'd dance to Shah Rukh's 'Kitabe Bahut Si Padhi Hogi' from Baazigar. I must've been 3 at that time. I wasn't just Shah Rukh's fan. I'm his trueblue admirer. I always loved the way he conducted himself. Now after having worked with him I love him even more. Rab Ne...was like my school where Shah Rukh and Adi were my teachers."

However Anushka wasn't over-instructed. "Adi never told me what to do beyond a point. In fact he gave me the liberty to interpret my character how I wanted after making me read the lines. Imagine a newcomer getting so much freedom in her first film! I must have given my DOP Mr Ravi Chandran so much grief. I knew nothing about camera angles. I didn't even understand focus marks. Shah Rukh was doing that for me. Adi and Shah Rukh made things so comfortable for me. These things matter a lot when you're starting out."

Anushka didn't have to make a strenuous effort to act. "Even modeling is a kind of performance. On the ramp you are representing a concept. In a film you're projecting an individual. But the transition wasn't hard for me. Because in real life I'm as simple as the girl I play in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Yes, I do like to dress up and walk the ramp. But that isn't the real me."

Anushka was lucky to be brought up in Bangalore. "Otherwise army officers who give their lives for the country (and I'm proud to be born to a soldier's daughter) could be posted anywhere in the back of the beyond. That gets really tough on their kids. Me and My brother (who used to be a state-level cricketer) got the best of education in Bangalore."

Mumbai is now Anushka's home. "I kept coming to Mumbai for modeling assignments. I decided to move into Mumbai a year ago with my mom, since my dad is posted out. I haven't bought my place. Right now I'm very comfortable in the army quarters. I don't feel the need to move from where I am."

I'm desperately looking for a young, chocolate boy: Prachi Desai

All of a sudden, Prachi Desai is a star, 'kasam se'! Not that she wasn't. She was considered one while on the small screen, but the big screen is a different ball game altogether. And not just a star - she's spoken of in informed circles as the newest version of India's Sweetheart, like Karisma Kapoor decades before.

The film that made her one was Abhishek Kapoor's Rock On, where her sweet rasp and expressive features saw her as a perfect romantic foil for Farhan Akhtar's panicked banker role and a morally tested rockstar.

We spoke with the petite actress on a Sunday morning, almost brunch time though, to talk about her on going rocking life. She cheerfully replied, "It's a different feeling now and definitely a change for the better.

Rock On will always be special for me. But I have to move on and can't stick to the films success always". Listening to Prachi's comment, we move on to Life Partner, her second offering which also happens to be Abbas Mustan's first production directed by Rumi Jaffery. Miss Desai takes me back on how the film landed up at her doorstep.

"When I was shooting for Rock On, I got a call from Rumi Jaffery, who wanted to meet me regarding a film he was making. Because it was my first meeting with him, he did not narrate the entire script to me.

Rumi had one thing very clear that he wanted me to be a part of Life Partner. But I got the film because it was a romantic comedy and I'm sure he must've seen me on the small screen before signing me", said Prachi.

She also isn't in a hasty mood to sign anything. "I have been warned right from the beginning that I cannot afford to be making wrong and hasty decisions just because I'm new", comments the actress.

So is moving on from the small screen to the big screen a hasty or a wrong decision? Answers Prachi, "I think that was a smart move because the daily soap I was doing was about to take a twenty year leap which I wasn't ready for. I didn't want to play a mother of a twenty one year old."

Friendship is where the story of Life Partner picks up from. The said film, as described by Prachi Desai, is about relationships before marriage and how tough it gets after tying the knot. But how tough was it for the actress to be working with a director who made a flop like God Tussi Great Ho was something which she had to answer.

"That's very true. I began shooting for Life Partner immediately after Rock On. After I finished my first schedule of filming for Life Partner, I saw the promos of God Tussi...and then came to know that the film did not perform well at the box office.

More sad to know is the fact that the film got released after three to four years in the making. But that was past and its over. After Life Partner releases, I will surely say - 'God Tussi Great Ho'", replied Prachi.

The actress reveals that she has signed yet another film after Life Partner, but does not want to mention the name of the film nor the director.

All she comes out open with is, "The only thing I can tell you is that I will start shooting for my third film from March' 09 onwards. It's a big production house film. Give me a month's time and I will be out in the open with the name of the film".

To be working with Abbas Mustan is nothing short of an achievement. You have to be lucky and lucky she is. "The first thing I noticed about Life Partner was that Abbas Mustan were producing it.

I would love to work with them under their direction too, as I've grown up watching their films like Baazigar, Ajnabee and Soldier", said the chirpy actress. With so much said and done, I quizzed Prachi on whether she is looking forward to win many awards for her stunning debut performance come Jan and Feb '09.

And to my surprise, in a relaxed tone, she said, "I've already won a debut award in Kolkata where Rock On also won the Best Film. I've also won an award just a couple of day back as a 'Sabse Favourite Heroine' which was showcased on Star Gold. Now I am looking forward for more. I am really happy that I've received these two awards."

Ga-ga over awards, she also cannot stop showering praise on her competitive colleagues.

"I'd heard so much about Mugdha's performance in Fashion that I had to watch the film. I saw it and can now believe what everyone was talking about. Mugdha's role wasn't the typical, sweet heroine types. She was amazing in Fashion.

I haven't seen Adah Sharma's 1920 but have seen Sonal Chauhan in Jannat. She was good too. But the one who is likely to win is Anushka Sharma from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. She was brilliant. It's a tough competition this time."

With New Year just a couple of days away, Prachi tells us on how she wishes to celebrate the end of 2008 and look forward to a bright and successful 2009.

"I won't be in town. All my television friends will be going out of Mumbai to celebrate our New Year. It won't be as great as my last two because 26/11 has changed all of that. I am not in a mood to celebrate and will keep it low profile", said Prachi.

Well, there was just about time to ask Prachi Desai couple of last questions - one on a bad habit she would like to leave behind in 2008. She said, "I am fed up with my lazy life right now. While doing television, we used to work for 24/7.

With films it's an easy and a lazy life but a bigger and a better life too". And what about that special someone in her life? Will 2009 bring the real 'Life Partner' for this cutie pie? "I am desperately looking for young, chocolate boy; one to suit my type kind of a guy. I don't mind attending college to find my 'Life Partner'."

I use to curse them it was so painful: Deepika Padokone

Q.Your first thought when you were offered CC2C
. The first thought was oh! My god an action film with Akshay Kumar, he is the king of action. But I have managed to pull it off. I never thought that so early I would get chance to work with Akshay Kumar. This is his come back in action films after a long time and I was thrilled about it. It was nice to work with Nikhil Advani and entire team of CC2C.

Q. What preparations have you done for the film as you also have some action scenes in the film?
Well a lot, I started training actually six months before I started shooting. I trained in India in jujitsu before I had trainers from hong-kong who were to train me in specific act that we were going to shoot for the film.

It was torturous because been on the cable were painful, I have never done that before and my body would ach at the end of the day and get a massage. But next day back on the cables. But I think its all paid off.

Q. How was the experience shooting in Delhi to great wall of china.
I always thought that I would go the great wall of china as a tourist and not for the shoot, but I'm proud of the fact that an Indian film and me a part of the film, we have managed to work this out to shoot at great wall of china, I don’t think its possible quiet often.

And definitely its an accomplishments as an actor that certain things we would like to shoot at one of the big locales. Although it was extremely cold when we were shooting there and I give the credit to the entire unit member, it is very difficult to carry the equipment up and down they have worked hard to it and it all pays off once you see the result.

Q. Has Akshay seen any of your action scenes, has he commented anything?
While training he was not around and thank god because I would have been a nervous wreck but what he actually helped was when we had a fight sequence together, I was sweating and completely tensed and he said this is not the way you do action, you have to be calm, act it like a dance and completely graceful while doing this scenes.

Being a dancer grace comes naturally to me, but being calm with sword in your hand where Akshay Kumar is in front of you is not possible, but we rehearsed a lot and I'm looking forward to that scene.

Q. International crew.
International crew that we have worked is Warner Bros. And the major part was from India we had a Hong Kong crew also there were crew from India. It's nice to see how people have different creative minds, we have learnt a lot from them they have got lot to learn from us. I would also like to mention Gordon liu… we are absolutely previledge that he agreed to be a part of our film.

Q.Dee dee Ku - International action choreographer
Th was wonderful working with mr. Dee dee Ku, but during the action sequence I use to curse them it was so painful and difficult and next day I use to wonder how will I do that. But he would come on the set with a silky hair and a smile on his face like all will be ok.

Q. Gordon Liu of 36th Cahmbers of shaolin and roger Yuan the master of kungfu.
Fortunately, I don’t have any action sequence with Gordon Liu and the best part is I play his bodyguard in the film, he is like my father figure in the film.

He is a sweet person, we didn't communicate much because language was the barrier but without saying much we would understand what we were saying and I'm really happy that after dubbing for the film he really appreciated the action that I have done in the film.

He came to me and congratulated me, he shook my hand and said that he has never seen a girl doing that kind of action, for me that is some sort of satisfaction because he is the kung fu master himself and I've just attempted some thing new for which I have been appreciated. It was wonderful feeling.

Q. Memorable experiences
The entire film, we have been shooting for almost a year now. Its unforgettable experience working for this film, it’s a huge platform for me.

Q. Song
There is theis beautiful slow song where I and Akshay jumps of from the building. The entire song is CG, and it’s a different experience, as its slow romantic song and most women tend to be dancing but I was tied to the cable and was having umbrella in my hand and holding Akshay with one hand because it’s the whole thing where I'm rescuing him and this umbrella helps rescue both of us. Thought romantic being on cables this was the most painful song.

Q. Favourite scene from film
The action scenes that I have done because that was lot more challenging to me as compared to other things I have done in the film.

Other thing is since I have double role in the film there is this scene where one of me is locked in the cupboard and other is outside the cupboard it was great shooting for that, for this scene we have used this technique called stopblock where you shoot then you have to lock your camera then I go and change for my another look and go into other bit very interesting and one of my favourite scenes.
