I`m an everyday man, not a superstar: Boman Irani

In his first movie "Josh", he had a fleeting appearance. Eight years later Boman Irani is known as a niche actor with the ability to pull audiences. But he doesn't like to be labelled a star and says he is just an average person who loves it when kids approach him.

"I'm not a hero or a superstar. I'm an everyday guy. I feel happy when children approach me. I feel that something good is happening in life when little kids recognise me, " Boman told in an interview.

After a humble beginning with Mansoor Khan's "Josh", Boman shot to fame as the eccentric Dr. J.C. Asthana in Rajkumar Hirani's 2003 hit comedy "Munnabhai M.B.B.S.".

He has since then won kudos for his powerful performances in films like "Lage Raho Munna Bhai", "Khosla Ka Ghosla", "Don - The Chase Begins Again" and "Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd".

Boman says he doesn't mind people remembering him more for "Munnabhai" than for his other roles.

"I don't mind being identified as any character as long as I'm doing a good job as an actor. I have done all kinds of roles - from an editor, judge, police officer, murderer to a corrupt businessman. And if people identify me as Dr. Asthana or Lucky Singh from 'Munnabhai' movies, I am happy, " said Boman.

"After 'Munnabhai M.B.B.S.' happened, I haven't looked back, " added the actor who was here to shoot for his forthcoming film "99".

Talking about "99", he said: "It is based in the year 1999 and I play a gambler who wants the world to know him as a normal office- goer. I sport a French beard in the film, " said Boman.

The film is being directed by US-based Indian directors - Raj Nidimuro and Krishna D.K. - who have earlier made "Shor" and "Flavors".

"99" also stars Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Khemu, Cyrus Broacha, Simone Singh, Mahesh Manjrekar and Vinod Khanna.

On being asked what kind of roles he prefers, Boman asserted: "The moment you say I want to do a role, the story suffers. I don't set priorities in terms of roles or scripts."

Although he is not choosy about roles, his favourite character is Lucky Singh from the National Award-winning movie "Lage Raho Munna Bhai".

"I like Lucky Singh a lot because he is a confused character. He is a good man but does things in the wrong way. Despite that he is a family man, " he said.

"My favourite co-stars are Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Shabana Azmi."

Before moving on to the big screen, Boman tried his luck at the family business of selling potato chips, photography and theatre. He also did TV commercials.

"Nothing was planned in my career. I just went with the flow and took everything that came to me. Selling potato chips was obvious as it was a family business. When friends suggested I should try theatre, I gave it a shot. Then I did a lot of advertisements and then movies happened.

"However, photography is the only thing that I wanted to do. I still carry my camera wherever I go and keep on taking pictures of anything and everything that excites me. I have thousands of pictures in my collection.

"I don't know when, but it is definitely in my mind to exhibit my photographs some day."

Besides "99", Boman will be seen in "Little Zizou", "Fruit & Nut", "Maharathi", "Three Idiots", "Sorry Bhai", "Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai", "Yuvraaj" and the sequel to "Don...".

He has also lent his voice to Nikhil Advani's animation movie "Ab Dilli Door Nahin".

Dabbling between his various projects, the actor is satisfied as "acting gives the luxury to create something new every time".

No regrets on Rock On not going for Oscars: Farhan Akhtar

'Taare Zameen Par' is India's entry to the Oscars and for a change, people from within as well as outside the industry are unanimous in believing that Film Federation of India has finally got it right in sending a potential winner at the 81st annual Academy awards.

However, not many are aware that apart from 'Taare Zameen Par', 'Rock On' was in close contention as well and closely lost out on making it to the final list.

"Hey, but I don't have any regrets whatsoever on 'Rock On' not being the final selection", Farhan Akhtar says in a honest tone, "We all know that 'Taare Zameen Par' is a very good film. I liked it immensely.

I have worked with Aamir in 'Dil Chahta Hai' and he is a very good friend. I wish him all the success in the world. He had earlier taken 'Lagaan' to the Oscars and got so close. May he be the second time lucky."

Ritesh Sidhwani, co-producer of 'Rock On' too shares similar sentiments, "I guess the jury has chosen what they felt worked best. 'Taare Zameen Par' as well as 'Rock On' were shortlisted but ultimately it is the jury's job to choose only one.

I am satisfied with where 'Rock On' has reached and wish Aamir all the best. I sincerely hope this time he wins."

Abhishek Kapoor, who himself has now been second time lucky with 'Rock On' hitting the bull's eye admits that he would have loved 'Rock On' to make it for the Oscars. But now that the decision has been taken, he is not ruing over it.

"Of course, I would have loved my film to be chosen. However, now that 'Taare Zameen Par' has been selected, I wish their entire team all the very best of luck."

Suneel Darshan, who headed the Film Federation of India jury, agrees that it was a difficult choice to pick one of the nine films which were in fray. However, ultimately the committee members took a unanimous call and put their bet on 'Taare Zameen Par'.

"The film has a universal appeal and we truly believe that it would make an impression at the highest platform as well", says Suneel Darshan.

Other films which were in contention for being nominated were Marathi films 'Valu' and 'Tingya', Nishikant Kamat's 'Mumbai Meri Jaan', Neeraj Pandey's 'A Wednesday', Ashutosh Gowarikar's 'Jodhaa Akbar', Subhash Ghai's 'Black and White' and the Telugu film 'Ghanyam'.

The awards ceremony will be held on February 22, 2009

As a wife I tend to get partial towards Abhishek: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai says that "Drona", in which hubby Abhishek Bachchan plays the title role, reminds her of her childhood days.

"'Drona' is a film that is rarely made in Bollywood. Not only will kids enjoy the film, elders too will revisit their childhood fantasies while watching the movie.

Even I was reminded of my childhood days - when my world used to revolve around fairy tales like the stories of 'Amar Chitra Katha' and the horses, angels, knights and magic in it, " Aishwarya told reporters here Friday.

Aishwarya, the brand ambassadress of Longines, was here for the press conference of Longines Sports Watch collection.

Commenting on Abhishek's performance in "Drona", she said: "If you are asking a wife to rate her husband, then I will tend to get partial. But if you are asking an actor to comment on another, then I will say that Abhishek is a dedicated actor and knows his job well."

Directed by Goldie Behl, "Drona" is a fantasy thriller. It was released Thursday.

Aishwarya also walked the ramp showcasing the new collection of HydroConquest watches for the first time in Kolkata.

"This is the first time that I have walked the ramp in Kolkata. The city has always been special for my family (the Bachchans) and for me.

And since it's the auspicious time of Durga Puja, I requested Longines to launch their collection in Kolkata first. The next destination is Delhi. We will go there Saturday, " the actress said.

On her experience of walking the ramp after so many years, Aishwarya said it felt like "the old days are back".

Aishwarya has just finished shooting for Shankar's "Robot" that stars Rajnikant in the male lead. She is to soon start shooting for Mani Ratnam's "Ravana" with Abhishek.

Bubbbly Preity Zinta goes silent for Salman

Actors are defined by the roles they place on screen and off screen and after successfully representing Punjab at the IPL with her KING's IX team, Preity Zinta can now be seen in a role never attempted before with Heroes.

Preity plays Salman's war widow –the sole winner of the family who single-handedly strives to bring up her son and keep the home fires burning.

Being the perfectionist she is Preity made a dedicated choice to go back to acting school and learn how to portray the character of a rustic Punjabi woman.

Anupam Kher tutored her on how to imbibe the dialect and body language.

Samir Says, "Priety who is known for her bubbly, enthusiastic self worked on her body language and observed the locals there to portray the demure, silent but strong woman that her character is in the film. If you ask me, I think this is one of her best performances to date."

This method acting transcended onto the set as her introduction in the film is on a tractor and this achievement as another first for the feisty lady but with the help of Salman and a few assistants she mastered the skill of being in control of the tractor.

Samir says "In the scene Preity is driving a tractor, she was very nervous but she pulled it off with easy driving a full circle of the field and bringing it to a stop only a few feet away from Sohail, Vatsal and Dwij.

Even though she had control over the tractor every time I shouted cut people from the crew would run to help her stop the thing, and every time she would stop it get off and give a look as though what are you doing here I got it under control. She was super!"

Her co stars fondly remember her support and encouragement and vouch for her complete dedication. Looks like Preity is winning more than the hearts of Punjab!! We are sure Heroes will add another feather to her multifaceted cap.

Why Arjun Rampal hates models so much

Model turned actor Arjun Rampal who would now be seen judging the contestants of a dance reality show Nach Baliye 4 doesn’t want to be the part of any reality show which is based on modeling, “You may not be aware of, but I am very bad at judging any show which is related to modeling.

I still couldn’t understand why the people related to this industry gives me so much respect. I feel modeling world is a beautiful world but at the same time it’s a fake world.

Please don’t think that I am insulting the modeling profession but what I said is a truth. I just remained attached with this industry for 3 years after which I took a retirement.

The actor believes that the modeling industry no longer has any creativity in it, “When I was a part of it I have to see a lot of creativity in it but now things has changed a lot.

That’s why I don’t want to judge any of the modeling related show as it doesn’t attract me any more. I just like those people and things which are real. I hate unreal people and things.”

Well, Arjun looking at the way you have shaken your legs in your previous movies, even we too don’t see any creativity in your dancing. We would have to wait and judge your new role as a judge of a dance based reality show.

Shah Rukh Khan's 'big' patch up!

SRK reportedly extended the olive branch and patched up with the Bachchans at the premiere of 'Drona' recently.

The buzz is that nobody expected to see SRK there and that too with his entire family- wife Gauri and kids in tow! He warmed up to Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan and even Aishwarya Rai Bachchan!

Now everybody knows how things between SRK and Ash turned bitter six years ago when he replaced her with Rani Mukerji in his movie 'Chalte Chlate' after her then boyfriend Salman Khan( with whom she was breaking up) created a ruckus on the sets?

The buzz is that during those days SRK and wife Gauri were also pleading Salman's case with Ash and her parents after she lost all interest in him!

Shah Rukh and Ash didn't work together or publicly acknowledge each other thereafter!

And now here King Khan was at the premiere hugging Big B, laughing and talking with Abhishek and Aishwarya and posing for photographs. He also didn't forget to tell people that the war between him and the Bachchans is only media created.

Looks like SRK's is in the serious need of friends after his recent big fight with Salman Khan. The Bollywood bad boy started shunning him completely after that, almost creating a divide in the industry.

Moreover his 'King' status has been challenged big time with the rise of the box office king, with a new name King Kumar being coined for him (we mean Akshay Kumar).

The Bachchans who have their own insecurities (which now also includes their over ambitious 'Drona' biting the dust) must have been happy to oblige.

Wonder what happens to the new found Abhishek - Salman yaari ( or it also another illusion) now? Even if it goes for a toss, who cares? Friendships and enmities in B-town are fragile and inconsistent and it's been so for years, after all!

Salman's not over Sneha Ullal yet!

Salman Khan is known for being tremendously devoted to his pals. People whom he considers his friends always end up getting big benefits.

A few years ago Salman Khan launched the teenaged Sneha Ullal who has an uncanny resemblance to his ex-girlfriend Aishwarya Rai. The movie 'Lucky- No Time Love' had a huge budget and was well shot in great locales abroad. But that wasn't enough to make the girl lucky in B-Town.

She also appeared in a film with Salman's not so happening brother Sohail- 'Aryan' but that too not surprisingly sank without a trace.

She's undoubtedly a good looking dame ( after all she resembles the best in the world!) but she's not really a good actress. Looks like that has gone against her!

Some of her movies like 'Kaashh... Mere Hote', 'Click' and 'Gandhi Park' have been stuck for long. Maybe that's why she's busy doing South cinema these days.

Looks like Salman wants to still do things to help her. The music of the music director turned producer Sharavan's 'Kaashh... Mere Hote' was launched by Salman on the sets of Yuvraj recently.

Though Sneha was busy shooting down South and couldn't be present, Sallu made it a point to wish her all the best.

Wonder if his wishes would be enough to salvage a long stuck film produced by a non-happening Shravan and starring the out of work Johhny Lever, his struggling protege and unexciting newcomers like Kumar Sahil and Sana!

Vikram Bhatt smashed a bottle on Adah's head

If you have already started cursing Vikram Bhatt for his cruel, animal type act then you can calm down. He is a good man because the incident is just false rumor.

Adah Sharma, the debutant actress of Vikram Bhatt’s 1920 spoke to us in which she related some of the funny rumors she heard about herself.She kick-starts;

She said that it was rumored that she is hard of hearing and keeps pleading to repeat because she cannot get things in one time. She shared another interesting rumor with us.

“Rumors were that Vikram Bhatt had picked me up from a deaf school and gave me a role in his movie”, laughs Adah remembering the incident.

She says, “Bollywood is not that pleasant also. I have hardly done a movie and I get to hear all this”.

Adah says that rumors do not shake her for she knows her target very well. Just as we were to end the discussion, she screamed that she recollected the funniest rumor that she heard.

“I heard that one day Vikram Bhatt had smashed a bottle on my head and I had to be rushed to the hospital. The best part is that it was rumored that I lost all my hair in that incident”.

After that we didn’t get to talk to her for sometime because she was busy laughing for quite sometime.

Later, we did ask her if she wants to clear off any rumors, to which she replied, “I don’t want to clarify anything. I want to concentrate on better things in life, and most important of all; my career”.

What's common between Lara and Keira Knightley

It's sure going to be interesting to see our sensuous star Lara Dutta on screen in her upcoming film Blue.

After all Lara was given the Hollywood touch by the same make-up artist who was behind Keira Knightley's look in Pirates of the Caribbean.

Lara says, "The film required a make up artist who could handle make up for under water sequences as well as special effects for the action sequences and give the character an glamorous beach babe look, that was also very natural looking.

Nikoletta Skarlatos, who has worked on Transformers as well as Pirates of the Caribbean came very highly recommended by the International action team. She and Clarabelle Saldhana have put the whole look together for make-up and hair.

They have done an amazing job and I am extremely thrilled with the results". Is it possible for the ex-Miss Universe to look even more radiant than she does already? We'll just have to wait and watch to find out.

Zoya said, Farhan and I should've Kissed

As we talk Arjun gets a call from Suraj, the lead singer of the band Dream Out Loud who tells Arjun, 'So many musicians can connect with the musicians' characters in Rock On.You give then back hope.'

"What more could I've hoped for?" says Arjun in amazement.

Bollywood's first trueblue rock star is born. And Arjun Rampal who has been praised by everyone from Shekhar Kapoor to David Dhawan, isn't in the mood to let go of the guitar and all that it represents.

"What I've really taken home from Rock On is some great friendships. It was such an experience to work with really new talent …everyone in the film was either fresh talent or new to me. And they turned out to be people who'll stay friends with me for keeps."

Arjun feels Rock On worked because of the camaraderie. "What you see is not faked. All of us, from the director Abhishek Kapoor to Farhan, Luke Kenny, Purab Kohli and me, we spent a lot of time together.

We read the script together, spoke about each other's characters and just hung out. So by the time we faced the camera we looked like really good friends who has known one another for decades."

Arjun learnt to play the guitar from scratch. "I always wanted to learn to play the guitar. It's a wonderful hobby to have.

The guitar becomes a great companion when you're traveling. And now I'm hooked. I play the guitar and entertain family friends and guests with songs. Learning it was tough.

But I had a great teacher called Chandresh from a band called Dream Out Loud recommended by Farhan. Chandresh came for three hours every day for three months"

Arjun Rampal 's turn as the pain-lashed down-and-out rocker Joe Mascarenhas has brought him immense praise. "Just feeling for the character was a tremendous high. The long hair and my look was decided in ten minutes.

I was the only character who wasn't going to cut his hair.I already had long hair. I added some extensions to it.Nobody's hair can grow that long in such a short time."

And now Arjun is the first bonafide rock star of Hindi cinema. "I do intend to keep my interest in guitar going, though I don't expect I'd be able to join any band. I learn one song every week. And I play to my daughters all the time.

But I'm not good enough to join a band.Being a professional guitarist is really difficult. But I'd love continue playing the guitar as an amateur. If there's a Rock On 2 I can play on screen again."

Says Arjun, "Om Shanti Om did wonderfully for me. I was never scared it'd slot me as a villain. Just as I'm sure Rock On!! won't slot me as a rock star. I want to grow as an actor, try to do roles that allow me to grow."

He still remembers when Farhan told him about his role in Rock In. "I was in Jodhpur when Farhan told me about it. And I was like, wow! It was the story of these two friends, me and Farhan. So we had to look really really close.

When Farhan's sister Zoya was watching the rushes she turned and said, 'What are the two of you doing in the film? It looks like you'll kiss any moment.'I told her not to worry. Every emotion and component is genuine.

I actually played the correct chords when we played in stage. No guitarist can catch me out. Even Purab Kohli learnt to play the drums. We had to get it absolutely right.

Everyone thought Rock On was going to be just a multiplex film. It's gone way beyond. People are getting in touch with their olds friends because of Rock On. That's truly gratifying.

Even the small-towners are reacting to it.Just proves, if you make a film from your heart it connects. All I can say is, wow. This is my biggest success so far."

Revealed: Mallika's deadly Snake Woman look in Hissss

Now this one's a first for Mallika Sherawat. The Bollywood hottie is all set to play the role of a 'Naagin' in the Bollywood- Hollywood co-production, Hissss, directed by renowned Hollywood director Jennifer Lynch.

The film, which also stars Irrfan Khan, is about the vengeance of a 'Naagin' (The Snake Woman) and is produced by Govind Menon & Vikram Singh.

From the looks of it, a lot of detailing and effort seems to have gone in getting the right look for Mallika Sherawat's character. Mallika's character is of a snake that transforms into a stunningly attractive woman.

Robert Kurtzman, one of the greatest special effects artists of the West, has been entrusted with the job of giving the right look for Mallika in this film

. Robert has worked on films such as Vanilla Sky, Pulp fiction, Spy Kids and Evil Dead. The kind of make-up used is MUFX (prosthetic make-up) which is a technology that has won numerous awards.

Two make-up artists have been working on Mallika's look and the material she wears is so slimy that at times it just sticks to the skin.

What's more Madame Sherawat can't even move in her natural way with her make-up and at times is even carried to the sets. As for those scary eyes, Mallika is seen wearing some really huge contact lenses to get the desired effect.

Bollywood has seen films like Naagin, Nagina and Jaani Dushman, which had actors transform into snakes and seek revenge but going by the detailing and styling gone into getting the right look for the Snake Woman in this film, we can safely say that this is a first of its kind in Bollywood.

Himesh likely to be abducted by aliens

The singing sensation is a “point man” for extraterrestrials and is also most likely to start a new religion in their honour. According to the director of the Yevatmal Centre for Extraterrestrial Research, Mr. Ramesh Mahadik.

Mahadik, the author of, Udan Tashkari: Ek Unsuljhi Paheli , has been following Himesh's music closely as he has devoted more and more time to UFO-spotting and says he is sure aliens are using Himesh as their representative on Earth.

He further said “Himesh is now becoming a point man for contact with extraterrestrials.

None of the experiences I’ve seen are in the same category of what Himesh appears to have experienced. Himesh could easily disappear and then come back as an ambassador for their race."

Mahadik also said that the ultra super sonic frequencies generated by Himesh's high pitched nasal singing is another reason for Himesh being the likely choice of aliens.

Mahadik believes it is only a matter of time before Himesh is beamed into space, but insists the ‘Aap ka Suroor’ singer needs to consult scientists to prepare for any close encounters of the third kind.

Kidnap Movie Review

Sanjay Gadhvi's KIDNAP is all about a game played by the kidnapper, Kabir (Imran Khan), and Vikrant Raina (Sanjay Dutt). The poor viewer is caught in this senseless sequence of events that oscillates from silly to preposterous as the demands of Kabir borders on insanity to say the least.

There are some sequences, which are not expected from the director of the DHOOM series. Picture this: Vikrant is asked by this young kidnapper to enter a jail to release a prisoner. The prisoner is a puny little guy and the entire operation is a joke on the security system of the jails. Needless to say, Vikrant manages to whisk away the prisoner. Another sequence is when Kabir asks Vikrant that his last job is to shoot someone in a crowded pub. He keeps a gun in an ice bucket and it manages to stay there. There's also one sequence, a chase, where Vikrant is in pursuit of Kabir up and down an under construction tower. While the sequence is well shot, how can one believe that Kabir can fly like spider man? More so, even Vikrant, a tad heavy, matches the fleet footed Kabir, 'leap for leap'. There's even a bath under a waterfall, complete in white, straight from the Mandakini era.

Towards the end, after the kidnap drama is over, Kabir meets Sonia (Minissha Lamba) at a party and tells her he came here to say sorry to her, for what he did to her. What about us, dude?

It so happens that Sonia is kidnapped on Christmas morning by Kabir. When the phone rings late in the evening, Dr Mallika (Vidya Malwade) is obviously tensed. But the kidnapper tells her that he will deal only with her husband, Vikrant. Then unfolds the 'problem'. The writing is weak, there is no meat in the plot and the kidnapper is a gentle boy who it appears wants to teach Vikrant a lesson for something he did to him when he was a kid.
What had actually happened was that Kabir, an orphan, one day rushed into the bungalow of Vikrant to steal his car to drive his injured friend to the hospital. Note: Kabir was just eight years old then. Sonia, sees the boy, jumps into the car and asks him to leave. Boy drives with the girl and in the ensuing scuffle meets with an accident. Girl is at death's door and her father tells the cop that the boy has to be branded a kidnapper and put in prison. The boy is shocked, so is the cop who tries hard to make Vikrant see reason. Any Dad in Vikrant's position would have behaved the way he did. Kabir is thrown in prison. Surprisingly, he has bears no telltale traits of what 'living with criminals' would justify. He is a cool kidnapper who you would love to take to Momma!

Imran Khan gives off yet another good performance. However, in terms of body language, he could have done better. Minissha Lamba has finally hit the viewers 'eyeballs'. When she is dressed down to the bare minimum, she heats up the screen. Sanjay Dutt's weight issues fluctuate, understandably so because of the break in shooting due to his personal problems.

Thanks to Imran's successful debut and Sanjay Dutt's presence, this film will do brisk business for the first few days. After that, the message will reach the audience... Watching Kidnap is like being held to ransom!

Dostana — Music Review

Its been a long time since last film of Dharma Production has released and music from them is always great , no matter how the movie is . Their last film , KANK , though didn’t do well but still its music is one thing that shows one quality of Dharma Productions , that they have a great taste and knowledge of music and even if the movie is below expectations sometimes , music is always at par . So they are back with Dostana which will hit the theatres soon . This time though its Karan’s assistant Tarun Mansukhani in the director’s chair . If we consider that Karan didn’t interfere in the Direction then as a producer he at least would have definitely sat in Music seatings for the film . The music this time though has been given by Vishal Shekhar instead of SEL and Lyrics are by Anvita Dutt Guptan and Kumar . The film as we all know by now is based on story of three friends with hopefully some pleasant twist .

Lets talk of the music now . The album consists of Six Original tracks and no Remixes(Thank God!!) . The first song on the album “Jaane Kyun” though is not the title track but very well puts up the entire theme of the film . The song very well portrays the feeling of friendship and has a very nice tune attached to it . The song has been sung by Vishal Dadlani himself and has lyrics by Anvita . Anvita does a good job and has put up a nice blend of Hindi and English Lyrics . Vishal also does a nice job in singing and the duo have also composed it quite well . The tune basically is pretty much western and so is the entire feel of the song . No Indian tunes or pieces in it . Vishal has also sung it in a different fashion . Overall , the song is a nice blend of music and lyrics and backed by good singing . This song would get most popular from the entire album and hence is my Pick of the album .

The second track on the album is “Desi Girl” which is a trademark Vishal-Shekhar track which has Desi-Videsi Cocktail . I am personally not a fan of such tracks and we already got a taste of such tracks in Tashan and Bachna Ae Hasino soundtracks . Such tracks are not meant to be listened , you can just dance on them without listening them . Still , the tune is not one of those that can make anyone and everyone sway to it . The lyrics byKumaar are an average affair and quite commercial .Shankar and Sunidhi do their usual in Singing dept. I don’t know how this song will feature in Miami where the whole film is set-up . I hope they don’t have a situation where everyFirangi is doing a Bhangra with our leads .

Next comes a Punjabi Track (one of the Four Pillars of a Bollywood Soundtrack) , “Maa Da Ladla ” . This Punjabi track has some modern Bass Beats of a Disco and no Dhol in it . A modern Punjabi track with average piece of Lyrics . The lyrics in-fact have nothing to offer and neither they are that catchy . But you never know , if “Bhootni Ke” of Singh is Kinngh can work so can “Ma Da Ladla” of Dostana . Saleem who sings the song has a nice Punjabi voice and sings it well . Overall , a track that I would prefer to listen in the movie itself . Nice pacy tune for dance lovers .

The fourth song on the soundtrack is “Shut Up and Bounce ” . If you have seen the first trailer of the movie then you would probably remember the groovy music it had . Well , that was from this song . I must say that when I heard the music in the trailer I was pleasantly surprised but I was quite disappointed when I heard the song on the CD . The whole music is really good but the lyrics have nothing good to offer . I can say that a very good tune probably wasted due to improper lyrics by Anvita . One more thing to notice is that apart from the piece that was in the trailer the whole song has very average music and some basic beats only . In any case , the song is good only to an extent and probably would be liked by people at large due to the bass in it . Another disco track and has some nice singing by Sunidhi Chauhan . Overall , the track is good but could have been much better .

The next track on the album ” Khabar Nahin ” is a little on the slower side and also on the romantic side . The song has very nice guitaring through out by Sanjay Divecha but apart from his guitaring the tune is pretty much basic and nothing so great about it . The lyrics by Anvita are good and Vishal again does a good job singing . He has been very well supported by Shreya and Amanat Ali . The song in all is a nice one and has some nice guitaring in it . The guitar lovers would like the guitaring in it .

The last rack on the album is again a slow soulful track “Kuch Kam” . It stars off with very less music on Piano and then later slowly some basic music beats are put in it . This one again is a Romantic track which gives a hint that the movie would start off with all the fun and masti and would finally end on a Romantic Note . This song has been composed well by Vishal-Shekhar and they have kept it pretty basic . Shaan sings quite well as usual and his fans would love this track .

If you have noticed , I’ve repeatedly used word “Basic” in the entire review . I don’t know , the tunes and lyrics made me use that word . I found the entire album pretty much basic stuff and nothing extraordinary was there in the entire album . Only the first song “Jaane Kyun” is a winner all throughout . The two slow songs in the end are good but not extra-ordinary . The other songs are good for parties etc. I was expecting a lot since it is an album from a Dharma Productions film . Well , those of you who don’t know , there is a special appearance of Shilpa Shetty in some song probably . I couldn’t figure out which song it would be . But one thing I couldn’t understand , what is Abhishek , the flabby , doing in between all these hot people (Piggy,John and Shilpa) ? No offence Abhishek , I like your acting but dude try to look like your contemporaries . Even your seniors (Shilpa) look much younger than you.

Overall , its a nice album and can be listened to . Jaane Kyun and Khabar Nahi are the pick from the entire album . Good part is that the album won’t damage the film and would give it some boost only .

Album Rating : Three out of Five , Jaane Kyun being the best and all songs being good.

Drona Movie Review

Big wind, loud thunder, no rain! This in short describes Goldie Behl's DRONA the best. The film drags, over two continents, and how! It can be best described as a costume drama. The producers might have spent huge monies to get the costumes and sets in place, not to forget the special effects, which are very, very good. But what is the use of special effects and good costumes if there is no script? DRONA lost the battle at the writing table itself.

To quote the makers, ''DRONA is rooted in the vibrant tapestry of Indian mythology. DRONA is the compelling modern tale of one man's spectacular voyage through the labyrinths of mystic myths and legendary legacies. It is a journey that will force him to face his fears and make him the hero he was born to become.''

DRONA is Abhishek Bachchan. For the first half of the movie the director is getting him to realise who he is; during the latter part of the second half, he realises who he is. And towards the end, he accomplishes what he is supposed to be by eliminating big bad Riz Raizada (Kay Kay Menon).

DRONA also has Priyanka Copra as Sonia, his bodyguard. One look at Priyanka and you want to give a hug to make-up artist Mickey Contractor who has done a fabulous job. Priyanka looks gorgeous. Will Madhur Bhandarkar be able to go one up on DRONA as far as her look is concerned in FASHION? That is for another review!

The huge hype will pull in the crowds, but it will be another task to keep them in during the course of the movie.

You go back with just one thought after watching DRONA, a colossal waste!

Introducing the DRONA family Part II

Here is our second and concluding part of an exclusive inside view of the characters from the world of DRONA. Once again its straight from the horses mouth, Jaydeep Sarkar, the script and dialogue writer of DRONA.
Sonia (Priyanka Chopra):–

Sonia is the one character that went through the most changes, as we were writing. Sonia's character plays out at various levels and layers in the film. At one level, she is following in the legacy of her forefathers who have laid down their lives in the service of the DRONA and at many other levels, she is DRONA's only companion in this magnificent journey, she is the one person who introduces him to aspects of himself he never knew he had. It was a complex character, of a woman in supreme control yet living her life in the service of the DRONA.

Priyanka helped us find Sonia, even as we were writing. Sometimes, when you are writing a character for a particular actor, the actor's persona itself can be inspiration enough. And for me, Priyanka, was the inspiration for Sonia. Sonia, is a fantastical interpretation of the modern Indian woman. A woman in charge, a woman in control. A woman who is headstrong, vivacious, charged up and won't stop at anything.

Everyday, before we shot a scene, Priyanka, Goldie and I would read out the scene and much like her character in the film, Priyanka would explore areas in the scene and her character that were beyond the obvious. Her questions would only make us address nuances of the scene and make the scene even better. And it was not just about her character, but the entire dynamics of the scene. Sometimes, we would reinvent a scene; polish it, even a few moments before we were meant to shoot it. There was always an infectious energy on the sets. Priyanka brought with her, a rush of adrenalin, which put us all in top gear.

And that, in itself, is Sonia! She is a bundle of energy, who will grab you by your arm and take you along on this fantastic journey.

Abhishek invites Raj Thackeray to watch Drona

There's absolutely no friction or ill-will about the disturbances that erupted earlier this month over Jaya Bachchan's remarks that triggered off a chain of hostility in Raj Thackeray and his MNS workers, as Abhishek, cool as a cucumber on the eve of the release of his poshest project to date, turns around to say, "I'd love Raj Thackeray to watch Drona.

I hope he does. And I hope he enjoys it. I know he will. He loves watching good films. And I'd like to think Drona is a good film."

There is widespread speculation that Mr Thackeray would be invited to the Drona premiere to be held in Mumbai on 1 October.

Abhishek is neither confirming nor denying this eventuality.

One presence that he's looking forward to at the premiere is that of his wife Aishwarya Rai who is apparently flying down just for the day from Brazil where she's shooting, to be in Mumbai by her husband's side on his big day.

Abhishek nearly falls off his chair with amusement.

"It sounds very romantic to say my wife is flying down specially to be at my premiere. But sadly, it is not true. Her schedule for Shankar's Robot was supposed to wrap up a week before the premiere, and it did.

So she was going to be in Mumbai for the Drona premiere anyway. Having said this, let me add, she'd have come back to Mumbai for the occasion from any part of the world even if she was shooting."

Abhishek has been asked in a television interview what it felt to be overshadowed by his wife at the Cannes film festival. "Although the intention behind such questions is obviously not honorable I don't get rattled at all.

It's a pleasure to be overshadowed by the most beautiful woman in the world. I had a ball doing the Unforgettable concerts with Aishwarya.

I know I'll have a great time shooting Mani Ratnam's film with her. Right now I'm looking forward to her return early next week."

At the moment Aishwarya has flown off to Paris to shoot the latest L'Oreal ad. The Big B and Jaya were also in Paris this week.

"Yes they were, " admits Abhishek. "Unfortunately Ma and Pa left a day before Aishwarya arrived in Paris. Pa had to be back to shoot a television programme to promote the Unforgettable concerts in India."

Yes, the Unforgettable concerts are now going to be staged in India, beginning with Mumbai.

"We're in the process of working out the venues and dates. There'll be more time for all this once Drona is released," says Abhishek.

I don't mind being overshadowed by Ash:Abhishek

Abhishek Bachchan, who is all geared up for the release of "Drona" this week, says he doesn't mind being overshadowed by his wife Aishwarya Rai.

At this year's Cannes Film Festival attended by him and his wife, Abhishek was repeatedly asked how it felt to be overshadowed by his wife.

"Although the intention behind such questions is obviously not honourable, I don't get rattled at all. It's a pleasure to be overshadowed by the most beautiful woman in the world. I had a ball doing the 'Unforgettable' concerts with Aishwarya, " Abhishek told.

After "Guru", the actor is teaming up with his wife once again for Mani Ratnam's next film.

"I know I'll have a great time shooting Mani Ratnam's film with her. Right now I'm looking forward to her return from Brazil, " he said.

Aishwayra was in Brazil shooting for Shankar's "Robot". Abhishek said he was looking forward to Aishwarya's presence at the premiere of "Drona".

"It sounds very romantic to say my wife is flying down especially to be at my film's premiere. But sadly, it is not true. Her schedule for Shankar's 'Robot' was supposed to wrap up a week before the premiere, and it did. So she was going to be in Mumbai for the 'Drona' premiere anyway.

"Having said this, let me add, she'd have come back to Mumbai for the occasion from any part of the world even if she was shooting."

Aishwarya was recently in Paris to shoot the latest L'Oreal ad. Both her in-laws, Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan, were also there, but they couldn't meet her.

"Yes they were there. Unfortunately ma and pa left a day before Aishwarya arrived in Paris. Pa had to be back to shoot a television programme to promote the 'Unforgettable' concerts in India."

"Yes, the 'Unforgettable' concerts are now going to be staged in India, beginning with Mumbai.

"We're in the process of working out the venues and dates. There'll be more time for all this once 'Drona' is released, "said Abhishek.

Directed by Goldie Behl, "Drona" also stars Priyanka Chopra and Kay Kay Menon.

Mujhe Maaf Karo: Saif Ali Khan

Recently there have been reports in the news that Saif Ali Khan had a tiff with photo journalists in Patiala during the shoot of his home production directed by Imtiaz Ali.

According to the report, " Some photo journalists were trying to click photographs of Saif at the railway station where the shooting of his home production was on.

Two photo journalists--one belonging to a newspaper and the other to local TV news channel--were trying to take shots of the shooting of the movie when Saif objected to this.

It has been alleged that the security staff of Saif allegedly reacted and took away the cameras of the photo journalists. A police complaint has been filed by Saif's production and later by the press persons" Since then the matter has snowballed into a controversy and the actor is deeply disturbed by this.

A source close to the actor reveals on exactly what transpired. " Two photo journalists were trying to click pictures of the film without the production's permission.

They were told not to do that as the look of the film is being closely guarded. But because they still continued doing so they were reprimanded. The security staff got into an argument with the photographers and it resulted in a fight. The actor was not even aware of this.

The news finally reached him and then the production decided to file a complaint against the two press photographers. But inspite of this Saif is very disturbed about what happened as he shares very cordial relations with the media"

Saif Ali Khan sets the record straight in his press statement that the actor has personally issued from Patiala. Says Saif who is still shooting for his home production in Patiala, " Patiala is a lovely place and our shoot has been going really well.

The crowd has also been very co- operative. As an individual I was not present at the time of the incident so I don't know the details.

But as a producer and on behalf of Illuminati Films, our company, I would like to apologize on behalf of our security for any inconvenience caused to the local press. Shooting can get pretty chaotic and crowded in small towns and some pushing and shoving normally happens in a crowd situation.

It happens all the time. So if anyone has been offended I would like to apologize to them personally and also on behalf of our production."

Commenting on the charges of assault and man handling leveled against him he says, "That is completely completely false and baseless. I was not even around. Anyway like I said before, I would still like to apologise to anyone who was offended."

Arjan Bajwa: i was not happy when Madhur offered FASHION

For most actors every film comes with a different nostalgia. For actor Arjan Bajwa who stars in Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion as male lead role opposite Priyanka Chopra, feels that the film will always remain special for him. It was during the film, that he had lost his dad. Everything can be replaced in life, except your parents. 'I have been trying my luck in Bollywood since couple of years. When I signed Mani Ratnam's GURU few years back, it was a joyous moment for me. I look up to my dad for anything I achieve in my life; I have this habit of sharing every details of my life with him. He was more like a buddy to me,' says Arjan Bajwa. His dad passed away when he was shooting for SUMMER OF 2007. 'I was in the middle of a shot when I got a call from Delhi,' he says.

'My dad was a politician in Delhi, and he is known by his name. He wanted me to enter politics, but I refused. I wanted to establish myself as an actor. I know that I can perform much better than many out there in this industry. My dad wanted me to sign one solo film as the hero,' he says.

It was mere coincidence or pre–destined call of Almighty that during the chautha of Arjan's dad, he received a call from Madhur Bhandarkar's production. 'I got a call from Madhur's office stating that he would like to talk to me. I informed that I have lost my dad and will call him back. Later when I called him, he offered me the lead role in FASHION opposite Priyanka Chopra. I should have been the happiest person on earth, but I was not happy at all... simply because I thought that I don't have my dad to share my happiness,' he says emotionally.

Arjan would like to continue his good work in this industry. 'My mom says that I should not leave the battle field, I need to fight and win. I can never let my dad's dream die; earlier it was just a struggle for survival, now it's a matter of my dad's pride. I need to give my best shot,' he affirms.

An Akshayless Eid!

For the past four years it has become a tradition of sorts for an Akshay Kumar starrer to release in an around the festive Eid period. The first film which started the trend was Subhash Ghai's Abbas–Mustan directed, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor starrer, AITRAAZ (2004). Next year (2005) saw Priyadarshan's comic caper, the Akshay Kumar and John Abraham starrer GARAM MASALA release. And the very next year it was the turn of romcom, JAAN–E–MANN co–starring, Salman Khan hitting the screens around the festive season.

As if it was not enough, last year's Eid once again saw Priyadarshan return with his favourite hero, Akshay Kumar in the comedy–horror flick, BHOOL BHULAIYAA. Barring JAAN–E–MANN which suffered at the hands of Shah Rukh Khan's DON, all the remaining three above mentioned projects were box–office successes.

However this year, fans of Akshay Kumar will have to make do with his still running super–hit, SINGH IS KINNG, which (as per trade sources), is expected to carry into Eid with a reasonable number of prints. And for others there are as many as three interesting and different films releasing around Eid. The Sanjay Dutt–Imran Khan starrer, KIDNAP, releases on the 1st of October. Gandhi Jayanti (2nd October) will see Abhishek Bachchan's DRONA and Nandita Das's RAMCHAND PAKISTANI releasing world wide across screens.

Big B, SRK, Akki, who's bigger?

The newly emerged KINNG of Bollywood Akshay Kumar or Akki, as rightly called, is definitely riding high.

With back–to–back hits he has proved to be the star with the Midas touch with all of his films proving to be winners for the producers. This in turn soar his demand in the market and placed him among the top league of Bollywood. After conquering Box–office, Akki has also become King of the ad world. A couple of days back he was appointed as the new brand ambassador for Levi's jeans '501' brand.

And if all this was not enough than here is one more reason for Akki to be rightly called as the 'King' of tinsel town. As per the latest reports, Bollywood Superstar Akshay Kumar has been awarded the title of 'Brand Ambassador of the year'. This coveted title was honoured to him at the CNBC Awaaz consumer awards 2008 held in Mumbai recently.

Akki won this title leaving behind the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan in the race.

Till date Shah Rukh and Big B used to be touted as the most powerful and bankable brands. Infact Shah Rukh is the only star who has supposedly the maximum number of brand endorsements under his belt. But with Akshay's entry in the brand war this competition becomes fiercer from here on.

Do you think Akshay is the right choice to be called as the 'Brand Ambassador of the year'?

Or you think someone else deserves.

Hrithik's most sensuous film to date

While stories about all kinds of calamities, manmade and otherwise, are filtering in from the US regarding Anurag Basu's now-you-steamy-no-you-don't film Kites, father and son Rakesh and Hrithik Roshan are happily shooting the film to complete it in the first week of October.

Though the original Director of Photography Bobby Singh has opted out, the Roshans claim there was no illwill involved in the changeover.

Says Hrithik from Las Vegas, "It was an amicable split. Now Ayananka Bose is doing it."

Ayananka Bose who was a former assistant to the well-known cinematographer Ravi Chandran has shot Yashraj Films' Jhoom Baraabar Jhoom.

The change, says Hrithik, has made no difference to the project, " We shifted earlier this week to Las Vegas as per plan. We're now here in Vegas for a month. Then we shoot in LA for eight days. After that we're done."

Kangana Ranaut who plays a female lead in Kites has just joined the Roshans and her favourite director Anurag Basu in Vegas. After working with Kangana in Gangster and Metro Basu strongly recommended the actress to the Roshans who liked what they saw.

According the sources, the change of guard behind the camera makes no difference to the chemistry between Hrithik and Barbara.

"The two sizzle together. This is Hrithik's most sensuous film to date. The accent here is not only on his dancing(which Hrithik has to go easy on after his knee injury and recovery), but on his ability to generate sensuality which has so far remained largely under wraps, the chemistry with Aishwarya in Dhoom 2 notwithstanding. In Kites director Anurag Basu has shot another more sensuous side of Hrithik."

According to sources the scenes between Hrithik and Mori were so intimate and sensuous that papa Rakesh Roshan would gently be asked to leave the set.

The Roshans are not talking about the film's sensuous theme and scenes.

But Rakesh Roshan does inform that all is smooth-sailing with Kites. "We are on schedule. After finishing shooting in New Mexico on 12 September we've shifted to Las Vegas. From here we'll relocate for the last lap of the US shooting to Los Angeles on Oct 3. We're returning to Mumbai on 12 October, " the senior Roshan signs off.

Hari Puttar

Rating: *

Kiddie films, aimed at kids between 6 and 60, are slowly making inroads in Bollywood. Hari Puttar - A Comedy of Terrors is the newest entrant in this family.

Now let's set the record straight. Hari Puttar - A Comedy of Terrors is not remotely inspired by HARRY POTTER, but it actually borrows from HOME ALONE. Unfortunately, directors Rajesh Bajaj and Lucky Kohli make a complete mess of what could've been a great kiddie fare.

Seriously, what were the directors thinking when they okayed this apology of a script? The directors seem completely clueless about how smart today's kids are. And the kind of stuff they have an access to (television, cinema, games). They've witnessed far better stuff than what's dished out in this misadventure.

Hari Prasad (Zain Khan) or Hari Puttar, as he is fondly called, is a bright 10-year-old who has recently moved from India to U.K. with his parents.

His father, Prof. Dhoonda, is assigned to work on a secret project with the Defence Forces at a remote location in U.K. He has access to confidential information that is stored on a chip and safely kept at his house.

Within days of their arrival in London, Hari's aunt (Lilette Dubey) and uncle DK (Jackie Shroff) visit the Dhoonda residence with their own as well DK's boss' children. Suddenly, the house is filled with the effervescence of no less than ten kids.

At this point, everything goes for a spin for Hari Puttar. Not only is he thrown out of his room to accommodate the girls, he is also ragged and ridiculed by all the other kids for being too naïve. Hari Puttar suddenly feels unwanted, undermined and unappreciated.

The family takes off for a holiday, leaving Hari Puttar and Tuk Tuk (Swini Khara), his cousin, behind, who confront the two goons (Saurabh Shukla, Vijay Raaz) out to rob the chip.

Even if you're inspired by a hugely popular English film, the challenge lies in Indianising it well enough. But HARI PUTTAR - A COMEDY OF TERRORS is an amateurish attempt all the way.

Here, the goons exchange the choicest of expletives (beeped obviously). Here, the villain (Mr. Blue Contact Lenses with an Ajit hangover; zero expressions) and his cronies (Saurabh Shukla in a hideous wig and Vijay Raaz in outlandish outfits) are more of buffoons. Here, in a kiddie film, you get to watch a sexy Shamita Shetty gyrating to a promotional track.

The scripting is amateurish and hence, whatever unfolds on screen makes no impact whatsoever. Any redeeming aspect? The penultimate 15 odd minutes when the kids try their best to keep the villains at bay. Also, the animation is quite good.

Zain Khan does a decent job. Swini Khara, seen in CHEENI KUM, gets no scope. Sarika looks disinterested. Also, she looks ill at ease delivering Punjabi lines. Lilette Dubey is miscast. As for Jackie Shroff, the less said the better. It's also sad to see actors like Saurabh Shukla and Vijay Raaz being reduced to such roles. They ham!

On the whole, Hari Puttar - A Comedy of Terrors is a poor show all the way

Q. From Bollywood or outside?
A.I would love to meet someone from outside. Lemme see!

Q. Would you cook for her?
A.Yes, sure. If she is willing to eat whatever I cook for her!

Q. What gifts would you expect from her?
A.The best of anything. But honestly, I don't care for gifts much. However, as I am an outdoors person, she can take me out for dinner.

Q. What would be your favourite romantic getaway with her?
A.I love the sea and the beaches. So it can be any beach destination.

Q. How important would calls and SMSs be in your relationship?
A.Since that’s a symbol of communication, I guess it would be important.

Q. What if she was earning more than you?
A.I would love it. I would love to be a ‘kept’ man, but she should make it a point to take care of my expenses!

Q. So you prefer a career woman to a housewife?
A.Yes, absolutely.

Q. How long would you wait to take your relationship to the next level?
A.If I think about it at the moment, it's going to take really long. At one point of time, when I was younger, I thought I wouldn't get married ever. At least, now I am open to the idea. Then, too, marriage is still not in my itinerary for at least 7-8 years.

Q. Do you remember your first crush?
A.Of course, I remember her. I was in school and was six years old then. I was punished by my teacher for kissing her

For Gossips And Mirch Masala Log On To Bollywood ParadizeQualities you look for in your man?
Honesty, good natured, helpfulness and a nice sense of humour are the ‘must haves’.

Do ‘good looks’ also find place in your list? And how high in the order?
‘Good looks’ is obviously there in my list, but it does not figure that high in the pecking order.

If you like a guy, would you make the first move?
No, I am too traditional in that the sense. If he likes me, he will have to make the first move.

Would you ‘dress to kill’ on the first date?
No, I would wear something I would be comfortable in rather than something which might attract him, but make me look like a complete fool.

Would you offer to foot half the bill on your first date?
Yes, I would definitely, but it would be up to him to accept.

What would be your reaction if girls made a pass at your guy?
I would not lose my cool for sure because if we are together, then the trust factor has to be there.

Would you like him dictating what you should wear and what not?
If he likes me, he will have to accept me as I am. So definitely, he would have no right to dictate to me.

If you and your guy had to go away from the busy life, where would you be heading out to?
We would go to Rishikesh for some serious mountaineering and river rafting. I love adventure sports.

One general trait of men you dislike?
That it’s not manly enough to cry.

Among the current Bollywood hunks, who comes nearest to your man?
That a tough question, I think I better give it a pass.

Don't Believe Everything You Hear: Kareena

Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor Monday dismissed reports that she had turned a producer.

"I have no intentions to turn a producer. The rumours are baseless. There is no truth to it, " the actor said in a statement here.

A source close to Kareena echoed this, adding: "Kareena is committed to several projects and is going to be neck deep in work for another two years. So where is the time to launch her own production house?"

Rumours were rife that Kareena was to launch her own production banner with the first film to be a romantic comedy directed by her close friend and director Lovely Singh of “Kyaa Love Story Hai” fame. Kareena was to play the lead.

It also raised speculation that her real life beau Saif Ali Khan would star opposite her in the film.

However, the source maintained: "Kareena hails from the RK family and with the prestigious RK banner with her, why would Kareena launch an independent production house?"

I can even look good in a bikini: Gul Panag

Former Miss India Gul Panag, mostly seen in de-glamorised acting roles, recently caught public attention by posing in a black lingerie for the cover page of Maxim, a magazine for men. Gul said she did it to show off the "glamorous and real side" of her personality.

"It was not for a change in my image. I am very happy to have the image that I have. I am associated with a certain type of work and I don't want to change that ever. But what is important is that people should understand that what they see on screen and what I am are two different persons, " Gul told.

Gul has received critical acclaim for playing offbeat roles in films like "Dor" and "Manorama Six Feet Under", in which she was seen mostly in Indian attire.

"In reality, I am not that kind of person as shown in most of my films. I am not a village girl clad in 'saris' and 'salwar-kameez' in real life. I am a regular modern girl who is glamorous in real life and that's what I wanted to show. In fact, nobody has ever seen me in 'saris' and 'salwar-kameez' in real life, " said Gul who debuted with Parth Arora's "Dhoop" in 2003.

"I can look good in a bikini or any other sexy outfit or equally convincing in a nightie. That's the job of an actor, " she added.

Commenting upon her roles, she said: "I believe that I'm extremely versatile as I can do power packed performances as well as look good as and when required. I don't want the people to be confused that the role that I have been playing in my films is what I am in real life. It's just the man who is playing the villain in films is not bad in real life."

What made you say yes to Maxim?

"Why not? It's the highest selling men's magazine in the world, " she said.

Asked about her future plans, she said: "It's not that I'll be doing more glamorous or power packed roles. It's about the offers. Glamour cannot be substance to a role. However, in most of my forthcoming films, I have glamorous roles.

"In 'Hello' I am glamorous. I have two more films - 'Straight' and 'Hello Darling' - in which too I have glamorous roles."

The actress said she is playing a modern, urban young woman in "Hello".

"My character is neither black nor white. It has a huge amount of grey in her. In the story, she is stuck in a conflict in choosing between love and practicality."

Based on novelist Chetan Bhagat's "One Night At The Call Centre" also stars Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Sohail Khan, Isha Koppikar, Sharman Joshi, Amrita Arora and Arbaaz Khan.

Gul said she liked the story and her role in particular. "I never sign a film unless and until I am convinced with the story. In this case, I knew the story beforehand because I had read the book earlier. It is an extremely interesting story and I hope people will like me in the role."

Gul said she enjoyed most working for "Manorama Six Feet Under".

"It is closest to my heart and I enjoyed working in it the most."

Among the newcomers, Gul finds Imran Khan as most dynamic and wants to work with him.

"I think Imran is extremely talented and the most promising among the newcomers. I came to meet Imran for a short while during an audition where we interacted and I found him a highly sensible and dynamic actor. If given a choice among the newcomers, I would definitely choose him, " she said.
