Watch out for RNBDJ it's next DDLJ in the making

If insiders from Yash Raj Films camp are to be believed, Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan have yet another DDLJ up their sleeves. They may be keeping a low profile on RNBDJ, especially in the aftermath of the terror attack, but the kind of subject they have in hand, the movie is bound to make waves by the time first weekend comes to a close.

Says an insider, 'RNBDJ is a relatively smaller film, both in grandiose and duration, when compared to films directed by Aditya Chopra or Yash Chopra. However, the film's strength is its subject and script which is going to please everyone. Ladies especially would fall totally for RNBDJ which has a great feel good quotient to it.'

But why a low profile so far?

'YRF has traditionally kept their films low profile. And same was in the case of CHAK DE INDIA too which has been their biggest grosser in the current times. They want audience to explore the film and trust me when I say that the film would invite audiences in hordes', says the insider confidently.

Does it mean a repeat audience is in the offering?

'Pretty much so', says a trade expert who has a fair idea about where the film is headed towards, 'RNBDJ's budget has been set in a medium range but if there is a film that comes with a potential of breaking OM SHANTI OM record of 80 crores odd, it is RNBDJ. It's a matter of the film taking a very good, if not exceptional, opening this weekend. Once that happens, I am sure there is no stopping the film from crossing the 100 crores net mark just from India. The vibes are that great.'

Well, we are waiting to see that happen, especially after SINGH IS KINNG and GOLMAAL RETURNS being the last money spinners that Bollywood witnessed!

ShahRukh Khan is now a 'Datuk'

Wearing a traditional black and gold Malay outfit (Baju Melayu and samping) and headgear, Khan received the title of "Datuk" (equivalent to British Knighthood) from the governor of Malaysia's southern Malacca state.

Bollywood superstar ShahRukh Khan today became the first Indian actor to be conferred on a prestigious Malaysian title.

Wearing a traditional black and gold Malay outfit (Baju Melayu and samping) and headgear, Khan received the title of "Datuk" (equivalent to British Knighthood) from the governor of Malaysia's southern Malacca state.

Baju Melayu is similar to a kurta pajama, while 'samping' is a piece of cloth men tie around the waist and which falls to the length of the long shirt.

The 43-year-old actor, who has a large fan base among the Malays, held the estimated 1,000 guests at the investiture spellbound as he received the Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (DMSM), conferred on him and 76 others.

The actor kept waving to his fans as he was escorted into the hall. The Bollywood icon was the focus of attention as media and fans clicked away using cameras from their seats.

The actor will be referred to as Datuk Shahrukh Khan in Malaysia and will be addressed as Datuk. Each Malaysian state chooses its own list of people to honour with "Datukship". A majority of the awardees are local Malaysians who would have excelled in some area or are in the government.

Malacca authorities said Khan was given the title because some of his movies had been shot in the the historical state boosting tourism.

Khan shot a song for the movie 'one two ka four' in Malacca which was named as one of the heritage cities by Unesco a few months ago.

However, the decision to award Khan with the Datukship received a fair share of criticism across the country with local artists and public noting that the award could have been given to a local actor or artist.

Akshay, Anil, Kareena and Saif were appreciated for their performances. The film was not for intellectuals or for people looking for a perfect script, as it was nothing new. Kareena looked glamourous in a bikini. On the day of its release, the film opened to a 75-80% response but well short of the expected bumper opening due to the multiplex revenue sharing problem, which didn't allow the film to be released in major multiplexes across India. Due to this, the film lost a major chunk of its revenue. Then came in Roadside romeo the first major computer animated film.The title character, a dog living in the city of Mumbai is voiced by Saif and his girlfriend, Laila, is voiced by Kareena. The story was about a rich dog who was abandoned on the streets of Mumbai and all the difficulties and all the dangerous characters he comes across. This film again opened with a poor response and dint do well in the boxoffice.Kareena's third and last film of the year was Golmaal Returns which was a remake of an old Bollywood comedy. Kareena plays the role of a suspicious wife of Ajay Devgan who hapens to spend one whole night out of the house with Celina Jaitely just to help her from some bad people. To hide this fact from his wife all the stories that he has to cook and all the difficulties that happen then is actually the story of the film.The film did really well and was a super hit and inspite of Kareena not having a meaty role in it she still managed to get a hit in her kitty. Priyanka Chopra -This actress has given the maximum number of release in 2008. Her first release is Love Story 2050 where she is paired opposite Harman Baweja, it was a mega budget special effects film.Priyanka's performance was not appreciated and the film crashed badly at the box office. Her next one was God Tussi Great ho opposite Salman Khan. The film was a remake of the Hollywood film Bruce Almighty.Where Salman challenges God and in return God comes down to Earth and asks him to take up his job and all the mess that happens after that. The film did not make news in the box office. This was followed by Chamku, the story of a shooter Bobby Deol and how he falls in love with Priyanka and his life changes after that.Priyanka's performance was appreciated but the film failed in the box office.Then came Drona a contemporary fantasy fable. The film was a horrific disaster. Then came Priyanka's two most awaited films of the year Fashion and Dostana.In both the films priyanka has acted brilliantly. In Fashion she plays a small town girl who comes to the city of dreams to fulfill her dreams and for that she has to pay a heavy price. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan - This year Aishwarya came up with two releases Sarkar Raj and Jodhaa Akbar. In Jodhaa Akbar she was opposite Hritik Roshan. A romantic, biographical and historical movie, which was set in a era of revolt, conspiracies and war.Aishwarya looked and acted brilliantly in the film.The film did good business in India and very good buisness in the overseas. Her second flick Sarkar Raj was opposite hubby Abhishekh Bachan.It also got her critical acclaim apart from box office success. India's Sexiest Dad Arjun Rampal

2008 has been a great year for Arjun Rampal. He's had two hits this year and he will be rubbing shoulders with Holly-wood stars, Robert Di Niro, Charlize Theron, Denzel Washington and Oprah Winfrey at the launch party of the Atlantis, The Palm hotel in Dubai on November 20. How does it feel to win the title of India's Sexiest Dad?
It feels great! If people think I am that, then I would like to thank them.

Do you feel old?
I am still young (laughs) so I don't feel old on being called India's Sexiest Dad. It makes it more special. My daughters are too young to understand what sexy means. When my wife showed the Ok! magazine to Mahikaa, her hands went up to her mouth and she looked at me strangely. She associated it with sex! I cracked up laughing because at that point you realise that sexy is a much-exploited term.

Do you think you deserve this title?
Of course, I deserve this title!

Who do you feel is the sexiest dad in the world?
Well, I don't look at men (laughs again) so I would have to choose a sexy mom. The world's sexiest mom according to me is my wife, Mehr.

A basic requisite of being a good dad.
Giving unconditional love. I always make it a point to take out time for our daughters, Mahikaa and Myra. Every summer, I take two months off so I can travel with them. I don't take on work at the time.

Are you an indulgent or strict dad?
I spoil them and indulge their every whim. Mehr is not strict but she's the disciplinary factor in their lives. She sets the routine, which is very important. Yet we both are friends with them. We want our children to be open and not hide anything from us.

What's your first, most special memory of Mahikaa?
Mahikaa must have been the youngest baby to travel and get double passports. She was three months old when I was traveling for my world tour with Hrithik. Mahikaa was this fat pumpkin when we were in Orlando in the middle of a hailstorm. Hrithik, Sussanne and I were running to protect Mehr and Mahikaa from the hail and had wrap-ped a big sheet around them. When we reached the hotel, we thought Mahikaa would be very nervous but in all that chaos, she fell fast asleep!

One value that you have instilled in your children.
To be real and honest. I don't want them to be pretentious.

Their favourite star?
I am their favourite star. They watch all my films, love them and know all my songs.
