Poor Saif Ali Khan. His first home production, Love Aaj Kal, is almost ready for release.And instead of asking him what it feels like to join the ranks of Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan as actor-producer in Bollywood, people want to know why he took Deepika Padukone in the film instead of, well, Kareena Kapoor — naturally! Not that Deepika and he don’t look good together.
“We do, in fact we suit each other well on screen, and I was happy working with her,” Saif said defensively. “But, yes, on a personal level I missed Kareena... it would have been great to have her in my first film, she knows how I feel about this because we have talked about it.”
The story goes that he was shooting Tashan with Kareena and just getting to know her when Imtiaz Ali came to discuss Love Aaj Kal with Saif. Kareena had done Jab We Met with the director and encouraged Saif to work with him.
“For various reasons in the script, a love story sounded good for my first film, but Bebo and I were just seeing each other,” he said. “Today it’s different, so much has changed, and we are practically married. Also, as actors we support each other — we know how much our careers mean, we are now family. But back then I had to make a choice.
And I was disturbed. Be true to the profession or my personal life? Some decisions you make from the head, some from the heart, some from mixed up emotions. Imtiaz helped me to think like a producer. And when I asked Bebo, who was shooting with Shah Rukh and Aamir, if it was okay to go with Deepika, she said fine. But... I missed her.”
He is too much of a gentleman to get into comparisons between Kareena and Deepika... but Saif as a producer is happy with the performance his leading lady gave him in Love Aaj Kal. “It’s a new kind of love story — of the 1960s and also the MTV generation, touching and with an edge, funny and slightly sad, and Deepika’s performance is great, it’s genuine and fresh,” he revealed.
“This is just her third film. And she’s remarkable, much better than I was in my third film. Our chemistry in the film is difficult to understand. Let the audience decide whether it’s there or not. The film’s shot in San Francisco, London, Kolkata, Patiala and Delhi. This is the first Hindi film to be shot in San Francisco. And I don’t think London’s ever been shot like this before. There’s no Big Ben, but there’s the Tube, Oxford Circus, the small back alleys, this is like how Ramu (Gopal Varma) would have shot Mumbai.”
You may look forward to the film, but Saif Ali Khan is looking forward to his next as producer, it’s called Agent Vinod... and, yes, it stars Kareena Kapoor — naturally! “I love the title, it may sound cheesy, but the plot is funky, it’s cool... a genuine espionage thriller, I play a RAW agent who saves the country from terrorism and a nuke threat,” he said. “It’s not a Bond film, there’s no Vodka Martini and that kind of vibe... nor really the John Le Carre story about a spy who came in from the cold because people would rather watch Jason Bourne now. But Agent Vinod is lethal, he’s dangerous and attractive... and I can’t wait for Kareena to be a part of the production! Your personal life does come before your career in many ways. Ask me — I know!”

RGV already has a mega line up of stars for this film which includes Amitabh Bachchan, Paresh Rawal, Riteish Deshmukh, Mohnish Behl, Manisha Koirala, Rajat Kapoor, Sudeep, Gul Panag, Raima Sen and Rajpal Yadav. Now, some of the media buffs have already started speculating that Rann has got another actor in the long line-up of the film. Don't be surprised! Be cautious! Coz it's none other than Himesh Reshammiya. Yes, a little birdie tells us that Himesh had gone to meet RGV at his Oshiwara office after hearing that Rann is his next biggie in the making. So what does RGV tell him? Well, again the grapevine hears that the director par excellence told him 'No'. But on the flip side RGV was very impressed with Himesh's enthusiasm and so is now trying to work things out if there is any role for the actor which can be sketched out in his film.
We also hear the gossip mills talking about Rann's hidden treasure. It comes in the form of Mallika Sherawat. However, what role she has got to play in the film is something which only RGV will be able to tell us. For those who think our stars can do anything for big bucks, here's an eye-opener. Abhishek Bachchan said 'No' to LG's offer to be their brand ambassador for their entire range of products across-the-board for an eye-popping price.
Reason? He didn't want to be even remotely unfaithful to another cell-phone manufacturing company. A source close to the Bachchans says, "LG was very keen to have Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to endorse their entire range of products across-the-line. It was an extremely tempting and lucrative offer. But LG's range of products also included cell-phones. And Abhishek is already endorsing Motorola cellphones. So, he had to decline LG's offer. But he has received a letter from the company saying they would love to have him and his wife as their brand ambassadors any time they wish."
The Abhishek-Aishwarya pair won't be seen in any advertisement at the moment. Their next screen outing will be Mani Ratnam's film that goes on the floors as soon as Abhishek returns from Miami after filming Karan Johar-Tarun Mansukhani's Dostana with Priyanka Chopra and John Abraham.
At the moment he's working 20 hours a day to wrap up Rakeysh Mehra's Delhi 6, which completed a 2-month schedule in Jaipur and is now being shot in Mumbai.

Abhishek Bachchan was announced the winner of the 'Best Brand Ambassador of the Year' award at the NDTV Techlife Awards 2009 held yesterday. Nominations were called from all brands for various categories like Mobile phone of the year, Gadget Eye candy award for the best style and design and Best Celebrity Endorsement - Brand Ambassador of the year, among others. The awards acknowledge lifestyle products, gadgets and best technologies that have made a difference in India today and change the world.
On winning the award, Abhishek Bachchan commented, "It is a great honour to win the title of 'Best Brand Ambassador' for the IDEA & Motorola campaigns. Kareena Kapoor’s long time wish has finally come true. Bebo always wanted to work with director Imtiaz Ali who gave her a huge hit with ‘Jab We Met’ and was quite disappointed when he Deepika Padukone opposite Saif Ali Khan for the actor’s first debut production venture ‘Love Aaj Kal’. It was Imtiaz who brought out the best from the Kapoor girl in ‘Jab We Met’ and so keen was Kareena to work with the director that she insisted that Imtiaz should do the direction of an ad which was offered to her.
So, now Imtiaz has been roped in for that ad which will reportedly be shot in Punjab and will have a setting very similar to the backdrop of ‘Jab We Met’. The supposedly ‘funny, witty and cool’ ad will Kareena dressed up as a feisty Punjabi kudi in salwar-kameez cavorting through the mustard fields.
So, that why they say, if you wish really hard, the wishes do come true!

Despite the fact that her mother Sharmila Tagore was once the reigning queen of silver screen, actress Soha Ali Khan could never make it big in this tinsel town. Now, the pretty lady is looking forward to her romantic comedy ‘99’ which will hit the screens in May.
Soha says that her character in the film has a “wild streak”. “I play the character of a girl called Pooja, who is a lobby manager of a hotel floor. She is stylish, confident and vivacious and has a wild streak,” said Soha.
“In the film, two conmen played by Kunal Khemu and Cyrus Broacha enter the character’s life and since she wants some excitement in her life, she happily joins them. She is a fun character at heart,” she added.
‘99’ is the story of two different men in two different cities, who are bound by a common feeling of always being stuck at 99. They never seem to make it to a ‘century’ - figuratively speaking. When they come out to make it big, what follows is an unpredictable and hilarious ride through two cities with extremely likeable and very grounded characters, unbelievable circumstances, real twists of fate, small-time crooks, big-time conspiracies, fateful car crashes, ups of friendship, downs of love and an exciting climax.
Besides, Soha, Kunal and Cyrus, the film also has Mahesh Manjrekar and Simone Singh. The producer of the film, Aditya Shastri informs, “We are launching two more films later. One is Click and Marry to be directed by Anu Menon and the third is Charles and I to be directed by Prawaal Raman.”
One interesting fact about the film is its poster where one can see only partial faces which is probably the first time for a Bollywood movie.

“Slumdog Millionaire” star Freida Pinto appeared in the chart of world’s sexiest women for the first time in the British men’s lifestyle magazine FHM. Last month, Pinto was also voted among the top five Hollywood sexiest women by men’s magazine Details.
The latest addition to the linkup of Freida with ‘The Slumdog Millionaire’ co-star, Dev Patel, is that the couple was spotted kissing each other during a dinner date in Israel. Dev had reportedly flown to Israel to meet his lady love on the sets of her new movie ‘Miral’.
Since the time they appeared in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, Freida and Dev have sparked rumours of linkup. Even Anil Kapoor confirmed that something was going on between the two. Just recently, Celina Jaitley had expressed her support for the gay community at the re-launch of the magazine for the gay community ‘Bombay Dost’. She had also participated in the Gay Parade in Mumbai and called for the abolition of the laws that treat homosexuality as a crime.

The memories of the scandal and stir created when Salman Khan ran over some poor people sleeping on the street with his rash driving is still afresh in everyone’s mind. Now, the same Salman who had been involved in a serious hit-n-run case is doing a public awareness ad where he asks people not to ignore the victims of hit and run cases.
The ad talks about how people just ignore those who are in distress on roads when hit by someone. It shows a man hit by a vehicle who is left to die.
The ad has been directed by Nikhil Saini who says, Yes, Salman has done a 90-second ad with us. After the story unfolds, Salman comes to give a public service message. He is wearing ‘Being human’ shirt and he says, “Apni zimmidari se mat bhagiye. Responsible aur zimmedar logo ki zaroorat hai is desh ko.” The ad also has Vipin Sharma, (Darsheel Safary’s father in Tare Zameen Par) and Shailendra Gaur, in it. We are quite hopeful of driving home the point.”

He has just been barely out of his last controversy, and now actor Hrithik Roshan is apparently stuck with another one. He has been caught mouthing tabooed words in a video clip apparently taped by choreographer Flexy Stu. Flexy is choreographing Hrithik in his forthcoming ‘Kites’. The clip shows co-star Kangana Ranaut practising her dance steps with a female assistant of Flexy. Moments later, Hrithik walks in and joins the dance rehearsals. At the video’s end, Flexy pans the camera and introduces Hrithik. In response, the star points towards Flexy and says: “This is the baddest m****r f****r in the world.”
Although the words are not meant to be abusive but in fact introduce Flexy as a tough task master, but sadly it doesn’t go down well with many of us. The two-minute clip has become a hit in the internet world and also offended some of the fans who want the video to be edited or completely removed.

This is the first time in the history of Bollywood that a blind man is not only playing a normal hero in his debuting film, but is also doing all the dances and stunts in the film himself. Talking about Nasser Khan, a businessman from Kanpur, the man is debuting with the film called “Shadow” where other actors in lead roles are Milind Soman, Sonali Kulkarni and Hrishitta Bhatt.
Under the banner of Great Entertainments, the film is directed by Rohit Nayyar who has recently directed Aasma. Recently, the unit shot a dance number at Filmcity on the song sung by Aanandraaj Anand. The song has 180 dancers and 400 junior artists and has been choreographed by Ganesh Acharya with a budget of 3 crore.
Ganesh Acharya was all praises for Nasser Khan and said, “When I met Nasser Khan I was shocked that how a blind man can act or dance .When I completed the song today I am again shocked as how this man has completed the song with 100 percent performance.”
This is what Sonali Kulkarni had to say about him. “The only man I have seen with extraordinary vision. A person who has amazing enthusiasm and risky trust. A man who is never tired to learn new things. A madly ambitious person who has given me the strength to believe that even sky can not be a limit if you dream to fly. My best co star so far.”
Hrishita Bhatt said, “He has not only inspired me but the whole world will be inspired after the release of this film. The way he works nobody can say that he is blind. He is so efficient that no shot has been retaken due to his mistake. A dream person to work with.”

The otherwise fashionably-forward Kangna Ranaut will soon be seen taking a step back in time.She plays a character loosely based on 1970s don Haji Mastan’s girlfriend and yesteryear actress Sona in Once Upon A Time In Mumbai. And the sexy actress is leaving no stone unturned to make sure that she’s bang on where her look is concerned.
To get into the skin of the character, Kangna has been studying yesteryear actresses in both Bollywood and Hollywood. Not only that, she is said to be working on her look that’ll be inspired by these actresses.
From Audrey Hepburn to Asha Parekh and from Sophia Loren to Sadhana, I’m trying to get the hang of their style. The character I play is glamorous and strongly influenced by western fashion, so I want a look that’s western but which also suits someone who’s very much here,” reveals Kangna who is cast opposite Ajay Devgan in this film.
Is there one particular look she really likes? “Audrey Hepburn’s! She was a classy dresser back then. I’d love to look like her,” says Kangna. To get this look, apart from long-eyelashes and heavy eyemake-up — quite characteristic of the era — she is planning to stock up on a lot of high-waisted, narrow trousers and scarves. “Also bell-bottoms were big during the 70s, so I am studying the entire timeline of style,” Kangna says. “I want a look of that era which doesn’t look comical today!”
Impressed though she is by the styles back then, Kangna is happy being a today’s girl. “The styles are more practical and fun in our times,” she says. “High bouffants, bell bottoms are things I can’t imagine today without being laughed at.” Would she like any trend revived? “The shirts. The kinds worn back then were very feminine, practical, yet elegant. I’d love to bring them back,” she smiles.

The going is not good for the Kolkata Knight Riders at the IPL and so team owner Shah Rukh Khan has taking to penning down his problems- virtually though. Yes, the superstar, who once famously said that he doesn’t like to blog because he’d rather connect with his fans through the media, is now typing out his worries for the world to see. He’s also using the blog as means to encourage his team to pick themselves up off the floor.Here’s his latest post titled Keep the Faith:
You must have heard a thousand times that the way to victory does not lie in how hard you can hit; but how hard you can take the hit. And I am not telling you anything new. Every teacher says that to his student, every coach says that to his team and I am sure John has said this to you guys enough times already, just as a father says that to his son.
When they all say this, in their hearts they also wish and hope that their team does not get hit; it doesn’t have to learn to win that way. A father feels, let my son win without ever getting hit; but you still say this to them because you know this world is a hard place. Games are a hard battlefield…your opponent wants to win as much as you do…so there is always going to be a chance that you will get hit. The best of us get hit…Mohammad Ali got hit…Carl Lewis got hit…John Buchanan must have been hit…Sourav Ganguly here has been hit several times.
So lets start from the fact that yes we have been hit already. So this is a good thing. A very good thing! We have been hit and hit hard, so the difficult part is over now. We all should accept that, we do lie at this point very nearly on the floor. So now comes the part, which is more important. The part that we need to show everyone around us, that we can take a hit; we can fall down; but we also know how to scrape ourselves from the floor and continue to fight. We still can take a few hits more and still fight back. Lots of people are saying lots of things about us, but none of them are right. The only right thing is that the owners have faith in this team, the coach has faith in this team; as a matter of fact the team has faith in this team. So there is no problem here at all. Just go out and play to have a great time…enjoy yourselves because pressure only builds more pressure. There is no need to prove anything amongst us. We all trust we are a great bunch of people and cricketers.
One lakh people out there have only one prayer in their hearts, god give our kids strength and a bit of luck to beat the shit out of their opponents. God will listen and deliver today, but just to make sure run faster, hit harder and go out destroy the opponent.
Lets play this like our first game ever as if we have to prove it to the world that we are good and can hit, then lets play this game like the last game of our lives, because we need to prove it to ourselves…that we can take being hit and get up from the floor.
I say a prayer my father taught me; whatever your faith, lets get together and say it… “Nasrun minal lahe wah fatahun kareeb” …
Ad boy Aditya shares space with Kareena

With a face most will recognise, Delhi Boy Aditya Singh Rajput (appropriately nicknamed Addy) has worked in a 100 plus ads and is still raring to go. All of 22, he has worked with Bollywood bigwigs like Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Ajay Devgan. And there’s going to be another name added to that impressive list.
The face of Close-Up, Amul Kool Café, BSNL and Nokia Ngage, Aditya will now be seen with Kareena Kapoor in a Vivel Soap Ad, for which Kareena is brand ambassador.
When asked about his experience, he says, “Well, we shot separately but the shot’s will come together in the commercial.” Ad Agency Law and Kenneth handle the creative duties for other ITC brands such as Essenza Di Wills, Fiama Di Wills and Vivel soap with the size of the business being estimated to be Rs 30 crore.
Aditya is over the moon and can’t believe the exciting journey he’s having. He says, “I did a lot of theatre and modeling in Delhi, but it was only when I got to Mumbai did my luck shine. Doing the commercial with Hrithik was a dream come true and I couldn’t have asked for a better beginning.”
He’s also acted in several telly serials and was also seen in Anupam Kher’s Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Maara and Ajay Devgan’s U, Me Aur Hum. “I am a very simple guy and I have always believed in the fact that it is very important to stay grounded. My friends are not from the industry and they remind me of my roots and where I come from. I have seen the type of attitude people get just after a couple of ads and that is something I despise,” adds Aditya.
The actor is now getting geared up for his upcoming film, Mehul Kumar’s Krantiveer 2. When asked about his role, he says “I play the second lead with Mehulji’s daughter, who is also debuting in the movie. It has a very young cast and I’m very happy with my role.” The movie has already completed 50% of its shooting and is slated to release this August.
And after taking over the ad world, we can’t wait to see Addy make his mark in Bollywood.

On Monday evening Celina Jaitly was very upset, and not just because her mentor and guide and friend Feroz Khan had passed away.At the funeral in Bangalore, Celina was horrified to see the poor turn-out from the film industry. "There was just me, Sajid Khan, Sanjay Gupta and Kishen Kumar. No one else came from Mumbai except the entire family of Feroz Khan .Among the top stars there was only Hrithik...But he's family to the Khans."
Celina can't hold back her tears. "I was shooting in Delhi when I heard of Feroz's death. I couldn't get a direct flight, so I flew into Bangalore from Mumbai. I had to. I couldn't hold myself back. Feroz Khan was not just the man who gave me my first break. He was my dear friend. I am close to both his children Fardeen and Laila. As for Feroz, what can I say? I could discuss anything from Oscar Wilde to the latest Bollywood film with him. He inspired, amused and amazed me with his knowledge and enthusiasm."
The last time Celina met Feroz was three weeks ago. "I met him at the Breach Candy hospital. He got into his Versace track suit to meet me. That was the man, stylish even when he was in acute pain. He had needles sticking out of his body but he was wearing Versace. He said to me, 'Celina Baby (that's what he called me) Look at what these f***ers have done to me."
She bursts into tears. "I'll miss him so much. I've lost a dear friend, a father-figure. Years ago he had made Zeenat Aman a bikini girl in Qurbani. He made me the same in Janasheen. I'm very proud to be a Feroz Khan heroine."

Thursday (30th April) saw quite a few Bollywood bigwigs take out time from their busy schedule to cast their vote for the Elections. The ballot centres in Bandra, Juhu and Andheri areas of Mumbai saw stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, the Bachchan parivaar, Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, John Abraham, Vidya Balan, Farhan Akhtar etc. troop in to cast their vote. However, there were quite a few B-town celebs, who in spite of being pretty active in asking people to vote decided to give the V-Day (Voting Day) a miss themselves. Kareena Kapoor
Kareena was part of the special video created by Karan Johar and Tarun Mansukhani encouraging citizens to go and vote. However, when the V-day came, Bebo was nowhere in the picture. Apparently, Kareena is shooting for Karan Johar's production along with Saif Ali Khan and Vivek Oberoi in the US of A and hence couldn't make it. Well, that certainly doesn't count as an excuse cos if Aamir and Shah Rukh could fly down from US and South Africa respectively for casting their Vote, Kareena surely could have. This is one Tashan of Bebo which failed to impress us one bit.
Shahid Kapoor
Kareena's once-upon-a- time 'good friend' Shahid Kapoor also didn't make it to cast his Vote and this despite him being in town. We really don't know the reason why but considering Shahid's 'good friend' Priyanka Chopra was also missing, we cant help but wonder if they were upto something Chup Chup Ke.

Priyanka Chopra was full of emotions encouraging people to go and vote in the special video created by Karan Johar and Tarun Mansukhani. However, when the V-Day came, the actress was conspicuous by her absence. PC…we all are keen to know more on What's your Reason rather than What's Your Raashee?
Salman Khan
Sallu was here, there and everywhere during the pre-election campaigning; hence it was indeed extremely surprising that the actor after encouraging people to go and Vote decided to give V-day a miss himself. The actor apparently was busy shooting in London for his film Veer at a time when he was most 'Wanted' in Mumbai to cast his vote.
Imran Khan
It was Imran Khan who came up with the idea of making a special video asking people to vote. Imran along with Karan Johar and Tarun Mansukhani gathered some of B-town's biggest stars for this initiative but when it was his time to Vote, Imran himself couldn't get his finger inked. The Reason: Imran was not eligible as he is an American citizen. Poor Imran indeed couldn't practice what he preached so hard.
Preity Zinta & Shilpa Shetty
Bollywood beauties Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty also didn't make it to cast their vote. They were busy cheering their respective teams 'Kings XI Punjab' and 'Rajasthan Royals' at the on-going IPL matches in South Africa. Looks like they didn't realize that the opportunity to vote comes only once in 5 years unlike the IPL which is an annual event
Deepika Padukone and Asin
The South Indian babes Deepika Padukone and Asin couldn't vote in Mumbai as Deepika is originally from Bangalore while Asin is from Kerala. Hope these two beauties at least have voted in their respective home town.
Akshay Kumar
Akki was among the other B-town celebs who gave Voting a miss. The star was busy shooting for Priyadarshan's film De Dhana Dhan in Singapore. Akki when you can travel from Chandni Chowk to China in 3 hours you surely could have come down from Singapore to Mumbai and exercised your right to vote as a responsible citizen.
Ajay Devgan and Kajol
Probably the biggest shocker comes in the form of Ajay Devgan and Kajol who were busy holidaying in Goa and didn't find it necessary to come down and cast their vote. Ajay what's the point in doing a film on Rajniti when you can't even come and vote for the leaders in whose hands lies the future of our country?
