Meet Sheena Shahabadi - The pregnant teenager of Teree Sang

Sheena Shahabadi, daughter of yesteryear actress Sadhna, is making a rather unconventional beginning in Bollywood. In her debut flick "Teree Sang", she plays a teenaged girl whose boyfriend makes her pregnant. The film comes with a message around teen pregnancy and has sex education as one of its major promotional pegs. Ruslaan Mumtaz plays the male lead. "Seriously, for how long can one shut eyes to sex education? It sounds so strange that in today's age and times, there are teenagers who don't think about safe sex at all. Education around this should be a definite must for all or they get misguided by random information available to them," 19-year-old Sheena told. Directed by Satish Kaushik, "Teree Sang" tells the story of 15-year-old Maahi (Sheena) and 17-year-old Kukko (Ruslaan) who are school mates. In one of their outdoor rendezvous with a bunch of friends, they decide to 'experiment' and end up making love to each other. When Maahi gets pregnant, she decides to give birth to the child and she gets complete support from Kukko. "I'm very happy that I got to play Maahi in my very first film," says Sheena, who is the daughter of Sadhna Singh, of "Nadiya Ke Paar" fame. "It is completely different from the routine running around the trees jig since it conveys a serious message without compromising on the entertainment quotient." Since this 'kidult love story' - as the film's publicity material exclaims - has quite an uncommon theme, did Sheena have any reference points while working on the film? "I didn't base my character on anyone in particular but, yes, I know for sure that teen pregnancy is quite common today. I have seen at least a couple of girls of my age going for abortion. They went through a painful experience not just physically but mentally too." She is neither against teenage romance nor a physical relationship. But Sheena does insist on using protection. "Use protection, otherwise you are gone. You may get carried away by a particular moment, but the least you could do to help yourself is be prepared." For her, there is also "emotional protection" that plays a major role in teenagers being sensible in their affairs. "Parents should be more attached to their children and give them warmth so that they don't have to step out and end up doing something that is not suitable for their age. Luxury and riches aren't important enough; love and affection play major roles too," she said. "If teenagers and parents are open about each other's feelings then there are less chances of them making mistakes. God forbid, even if that happens then a good relationship would ensure that you are brave enough to face the situation rather than turn suicidal." Made under the banner of Karol Bagh Film and Entertainment, which is owned by Anupam Kher, Satish Kaushik and Manoj Mittal, "Teree Sang" is produced by Bharat Shah. Releasing Aug 7, it also stars Satish Kaushik himself along with Sushmita Mukherjee, Rajat Kapoor, Neena Gupta and Anupam Kher in a special appearance.

Katrina going away from Salman for a month!

Katrina Kaif is finally free to go on her month-long holiday.On Sunday July 12, three days ahead of her birthday, she leaves for the family holiday that she has been craving for in London. The entire Kaif clan will gather together in London and then proceed to an undisclosed destination in Italy for a family holiday. “We net-searched, googled and finally found a place we wanted to visit, ” giggles Bollywood’s most googled girl. “It was tough because there was no place the entire family would agree on. Or if we all liked a place there was no vacancy. We finally found a place that we all liked.” Italy is a favourite spot. And Katrina is often mistaken to be Italian. But those are not the only reasons why she’s looking forward to the month-long holiday. This would be the longest time when Katrina would be away from Salman Khan and his family. And probably a time when she would do some serious rethinking about her life. Says Katrina, “Quite honestly I haven’t been with my whole family for a long time. I’ve been preparing for my holiday for ages. I’ve been working like a mad woman trying to finish all my work on time. It got specially hectic as the time for me to leave approached. I was dubbing for Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and shooting two songs for Priyan’s De Dana Dan. At one point I thought I wouldn’t finish on time. But I did. And I’m really looking forward to my time with my family.” Katrina returns to Mumbai on 15 August, more than a month later. Her birthday plans are a surprise even to herself. “I know my sisters and brother have planned something. Let me enjoy the suspense.”

Katrina is in pain!

Here’s another name to the list of those injured on the sets of Priyadarshan’s De Dana Dan.

This time it’s Katrina, who injured her back on Tuesday, while shooting with Akshay Kumar. Incidentally, this is the second time she was injured on the film’s sets.

Earlier, it was Sunil Shetty who was hurt after accidentally hitting an iron rod during an underwater sequence. He took nearly six months to recover. In December last year, Katrina had wounded her leg.

Wincing in pain, Katrina said, “It was a typical baarish-mein-bheegi-sari song. And well, I danced over enthusiastically. It’s always disastrous when you bend your back without a preliminary warm-up. Despite knowing this, I foolishly bent my back on Akshay’s (Kumar) arm. And as soon as I did that, I felt something give way. Now, I can hardly move around without experiencing pain.”

Katrina insisted that the shoot mustn’t slow down just because of her. She is more than eager to wrap up the current schedule of De Dana Dan as soon as possible. “I want to go to London to join my family and then we’re all going to Italy for a holiday,” she said excitedly. Laughing off the observation that this is the most accident prone film she’s ever done, Katrina said, “Akshay says De Dana Dan will be a hit because we’ve given our blood for it.”

It's not enough for me to speak Hindi, English...: Akshay Kumar

Voice modulation and languages were earlier considered Akshay Kumar's weak points as an actor. But he is determined to change all that.

Akshay recently visited the Spanish-speaking countries Honduras and Puerto Rico and picked up a smattering of Spanish terms and phrases which he uses generously on his family, much to their amusement and annoyance.

"I like connecting with foreigners, understanding their language. It's not enough for me any more to speak Hindi, Punjabi, Marathi and English. I want to know foreign languages. The only way for me to grow as an actor is to broaden my horizon," Akshay, who is basking in the success of his just released "Kambakkht Ishq", told IANS.

More than the cuisine or the touristic sights, Akshay is fascinated by the language of the countries he visits. Often wife Twinkle would be seen shopping during the just-concluded vacation while Akshay would strike up a conversation with strangers.

So does Akshay intend to be as good with languages as he's with kissing? His "Kambhakkht Ishq" co-star Denise Richards has described him as a good kisser.

"Yeah, I heard about that. Hmmm...It's not as if I travelled to the moon or achieved something to be proud of. But anyway I'm happy. Good action hero, good comic actor, and now a good kisser. Maybe people will start calling me a good actor soon. I'm working on it," he said.

About matching paces with Sylvester Stallone in "Kambhakkht Ishq", Akshay joked: "It's only because I take Chyawanprash. But don't tell Stallone about it. I don't want him to start taking it also."

On a more serious note, he said: "When I was working as cook in Bangkok, I had three posters on my wall. Bruce Lee, Sridevi and Sylvester Stallone. The first of my idols I couldn't work with. But I've been lucky enough to work with Sridevi and Stallone."
