I use to curse them it was so painful: Deepika Padokone

Q.Your first thought when you were offered CC2C
. The first thought was oh! My god an action film with Akshay Kumar, he is the king of action. But I have managed to pull it off. I never thought that so early I would get chance to work with Akshay Kumar. This is his come back in action films after a long time and I was thrilled about it. It was nice to work with Nikhil Advani and entire team of CC2C.

Q. What preparations have you done for the film as you also have some action scenes in the film?
Well a lot, I started training actually six months before I started shooting. I trained in India in jujitsu before I had trainers from hong-kong who were to train me in specific act that we were going to shoot for the film.

It was torturous because been on the cable were painful, I have never done that before and my body would ach at the end of the day and get a massage. But next day back on the cables. But I think its all paid off.

Q. How was the experience shooting in Delhi to great wall of china.
I always thought that I would go the great wall of china as a tourist and not for the shoot, but I'm proud of the fact that an Indian film and me a part of the film, we have managed to work this out to shoot at great wall of china, I don’t think its possible quiet often.

And definitely its an accomplishments as an actor that certain things we would like to shoot at one of the big locales. Although it was extremely cold when we were shooting there and I give the credit to the entire unit member, it is very difficult to carry the equipment up and down they have worked hard to it and it all pays off once you see the result.

Q. Has Akshay seen any of your action scenes, has he commented anything?
While training he was not around and thank god because I would have been a nervous wreck but what he actually helped was when we had a fight sequence together, I was sweating and completely tensed and he said this is not the way you do action, you have to be calm, act it like a dance and completely graceful while doing this scenes.

Being a dancer grace comes naturally to me, but being calm with sword in your hand where Akshay Kumar is in front of you is not possible, but we rehearsed a lot and I'm looking forward to that scene.

Q. International crew.
International crew that we have worked is Warner Bros. And the major part was from India we had a Hong Kong crew also there were crew from India. It's nice to see how people have different creative minds, we have learnt a lot from them they have got lot to learn from us. I would also like to mention Gordon liu… we are absolutely previledge that he agreed to be a part of our film.

Q.Dee dee Ku - International action choreographer
Th was wonderful working with mr. Dee dee Ku, but during the action sequence I use to curse them it was so painful and difficult and next day I use to wonder how will I do that. But he would come on the set with a silky hair and a smile on his face like all will be ok.

Q. Gordon Liu of 36th Cahmbers of shaolin and roger Yuan the master of kungfu.
Fortunately, I don’t have any action sequence with Gordon Liu and the best part is I play his bodyguard in the film, he is like my father figure in the film.

He is a sweet person, we didn't communicate much because language was the barrier but without saying much we would understand what we were saying and I'm really happy that after dubbing for the film he really appreciated the action that I have done in the film.

He came to me and congratulated me, he shook my hand and said that he has never seen a girl doing that kind of action, for me that is some sort of satisfaction because he is the kung fu master himself and I've just attempted some thing new for which I have been appreciated. It was wonderful feeling.

Q. Memorable experiences
The entire film, we have been shooting for almost a year now. Its unforgettable experience working for this film, it’s a huge platform for me.

Q. Song
There is theis beautiful slow song where I and Akshay jumps of from the building. The entire song is CG, and it’s a different experience, as its slow romantic song and most women tend to be dancing but I was tied to the cable and was having umbrella in my hand and holding Akshay with one hand because it’s the whole thing where I'm rescuing him and this umbrella helps rescue both of us. Thought romantic being on cables this was the most painful song.

Q. Favourite scene from film
The action scenes that I have done because that was lot more challenging to me as compared to other things I have done in the film.

Other thing is since I have double role in the film there is this scene where one of me is locked in the cupboard and other is outside the cupboard it was great shooting for that, for this scene we have used this technique called stopblock where you shoot then you have to lock your camera then I go and change for my another look and go into other bit very interesting and one of my favourite scenes.

Even I am very sexy, cute and funny

Singer-actress Sophie Chaudhary is working with Suniel Shetty in Inder Kumar's comic caper "Daddy Cool" and says her co-star feels she is like Oscar award-winning actress Goldie Hawn.

"Suniel calls me the Goldie Hawn of India. He says, like her, even I am very sexy, cute and funny, " Sophie told in an interview.

Sophie, who was recently in the capital to perform at a New Year's Eve function, started her career as a pop singer with the girl band "Sansara", but gained popularity as an MTV VJ.

After her stint on television, Sophie moved to the big screen and featured in films like "Pyaar Ke Side Effects" and "Aggar".

"Singing is my biggest passion, but being a VJ gave me a big name in India when I shifted base to Mumbai from London. Being a VJ is great fun. It's a wonderful job for youngsters. It gives you exposure - when you travel, you gain confidence and you also earn a fan following. But it's not a career you can have for life, " said Sophie.

"I enjoy singing and acting, so I took it up. As a singer I enjoy my stage shows, acting is a new challenge for me. It's exciting, great fun and you wake up as a different person every day, " she added.

Sophie, who is trying to get a foothold in the film industry, was recently seen in an item number in Sanjay Dutt starrer "Kidnap". But she is not afraid of being typecast as an item girl.

"The song I did in 'Kidnap' was my first item number, so I've no fear of being typecast. I did that because I can't say no to either Sanjay Dutt or Sanjay Gadhvi (director of 'Kidnap'). I guess my biggest gain from the song was a compliment from Farah Khan. She doesn't compliment anyone, but she came up to me and said that I look insanely hot in the film, " said Sophie.

Speaking on the year gone by, Sophie says the highlight was her shoot with her idol, Rishi Kapoor.

"I got an opportunity to do a song and a few scenes with him in a Bobby Bedi film, which is slated to release in 2009. The whole experience was wonderful, " said a delighted Sophie.

The singer-VJ-actress is looking forward to a brighter New Year with her upcoming projects that include "Daddy Cool", "Aa Dekhein Zara" with Neil Nitin Mukesh and Bipasha Basu and Sanjay Gupta's multi-starrer "Alibaug".

When SRK rescued Shahid and Priyanka

After Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapur have decided to talk about how the terror attacks of 26/11 were hard on them too.

The buzz is that the cast and crew of their new movie with Vishal Bharadwaj- 'Kaminay' were shooting outdoors at Marine Drive on that fateful November day, when terrorists attacked several hotspots of the city. The unit had no choice but to pack up hastily and leave for home.

But apparently on their way home they learnt of another terror attack in Juhu, where they were headed.

With little choice left, the duo reportedly called Shahrukh whose bungalow Mannat was nearby.

SRK warmly invited them home and did not let them leave the place until morning till things looked safer and the Juhu attack turned out to be a rumour.

Gauri was reportedly very hospitable too.

Well, nothing surprising since SRK's known for things like that. But we wonder why the stars are coming up with their horror stories from 26/11 now, after more than a month. That still remains one big mystery.

Kajol puts an end to her binging to look sexy

Kajol is on a weight losing spree, Reason? Her latest project with Karan Johar! The lady who will be starring in My Name Is Khan is doing all things possible to fit the bill and some super sexy dresses.

"She couldn't say no as she plays an NRI woman in the film and as per the look of her character she has to look thin. Hence she had to forego her binging habit and start with a special diet. She is currently in Los Angeles shooting for the film with her two good friends, Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan, " says a unit hand.

Her instructor is taking care that Kajol includes lots of nuts, especially almonds in her diet. Apart from keeping a tab on the calorie intake, Kajol is sweating it out at the gym too to cut that extra flab.

Interestingly, SRK had stopped working out as his six pack abs look was not required in Aditya Chopra's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

As far as his look in My Name Is Khan is concerned, he plays an NRI Muslim man here and is required to look lean. We hope that the all new lean looking Kajol and Khan create the same on screen magic like their previous films.

I want my songs back from Ranbir-Katrina flm

Whatever the detractors and jealous colleagues may have to say about the prolific Pritam Chakbraborty's once-derivative output the man has his fundas fully in place.

No two ways about it.

In what could be deemed a revolutionary move to bridge the gap between creativity and individual satisfaction, Pritam has asked the producer Ramesh Taurani to stop two compositions from being filmed Raj Kumar Santoshi's Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.

Reveals Pritam, "One is an item song for Ranbir the other a romantic song featuring Ranbir and Katrina Kaif. I've requested Tauraniji to not film those songs. He has agreed as long as I deliver the substitutes immediately. I'm now working on the alternative tunes literally overnight."

This isn't the first time that Pritam has changed his mind about his songs. "In Jab We Met I sent Imtiaz Ali a substitute tune for the hit Yeh ishq haye at the last minute. And I never liked Nagara in the same film.

I tried to stop it. But everyone was adamant. Later it turned out to be the biggest hit of the Jab We Met soundtrack. So I may be wrong about changing my mind.

But in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani I don't want to take a chance. I'll scrap the two songs and give new tunes. I hope the director Raj Santoshi doesn't mind."

It is reliably learnt that the filming of the two bothersome melodies has been stopped in Ooty until Pritam delivers the fresh tracks. That would be any time this week.

With a whopping string of chartbusters behind him Pritam is now determined to eradicate the reputation of being a derivative creator, or to use a less kind term, a copycat.

Even the slightest whiff of apery drives Pritam into a revisional frenzy.

And so it happened with his music for Raj Kumar Santsohi's Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahni, one more posh project for Pritam after chartbusters like Jab We Met, Bhool Bulaiya, Kismat Konnection and Singh Is Kinng.

Says Pritam "This is a time when my success is being questioned constantly by the purists.

I'm going blue in the face saying my songs from Jab We Met onwards are all original. Even for Priyadrashan's Bhool Bhulaiya I saw and heard the Malalayam and Tamil originals but refused to use any of their music.

Even the classical song in Bhool Bhulaiya was entirely my own composition. And when Priyan Sir wanted Bengali lyrics in the title song my wife and I sat overnight writing them ourselves."

Not only is Pritam particular about his compositions he's also very touchy about how his tunes are filmed.

"For Priyan Sir's Billoo Barber you've to see what a beautiful job Farah Khan has done of choreographing the Shah Rukh-Deepika Song. Now I've composed two different versions of a romantic song that will be filmed on Shah Rukh-Priyanka and Irrfan-Lara Dutta."

As for voluntarily withdrawing his two songs this has to be an unprecedent self-revision by a creative artiste.

"I know it's generally producers who ask music director for new tunes. But I believe Burman Dada (S D Burman) used to change his mind about his tunes all the time. We're living in mediocre sab-chalta-hai times.

I want to get out of the rat race. And make a name beyond the charts. My music in Imtiaz Ali's second film is very different from Jab We Met. There are no romantic songs in the film.

The chemistry shared between Saif and Deepika Padukone is very different from what Shahid and Kareena shared in Jab We Met. Imtiaz and I are ready for people to be confused by my music. I'd rather have them confused than finally disappointed."

Katrina is not going the rave party way

The buzz is that Bollywood's hot property Katrina Kaif has reportedly refused to play murdered teenager Scarlett Keeling in Prabhakar Shukla's film 'Rave Party'.

So reports that Katrina was shifting dates to play Scarlett as her dates are booked till 2009-end are false.

Apparently Kat was keen in the beginning, but keeping the controversial subject in mind, decided to opt out as she found the subject too controversial. Reportedly Kat has stated that she doesn't want to do films around a subject that has 'no clarity' and many unanswered questions.

The Internet Movie Database website also shows Katrina's name in the starcast of the film with its status 'in production'.

The director is also awaiting the green signal from Scarlett's mother Fiona Mckeown as he has sent her the film's script for approval.

The buzz is that South Indian director Venkat Prabhu is making 'Goa' which is also based on Scarlett's murder and is produced by Rajinikanth's daughter Soundarya's Ocher Studios.

Rani has always been struggling to look slim, from strict diets to regular working out regimes; Rani has tried all she could to fight flab but all her attempts failed. And that's when Aamir suggested his personal trainer Stayajit Chaurasia's name to Rani.

Satyajit Chaurasia played a major part in helping Aamir achieve the eight-pack abs look for Ghajini.

Being impressed by his work Aamir suggested Rani to hire Satya as her personal trainer. And as they say, hard work pays, after working out an hour every day for two months, Rani has been able to lose oodles of weight and look the way she has always wished for.

The all new Rani did a cameo in Aditya Chopra's Rab Ne…in a song with Shah Rukh Khan. Her new slim look had the audience in awe and reminded one of her Ghulam and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai days.

Stars who desperately need a good 2009

2008 is gone forever and 2009 has crept in with many promising films in store. Hope 2009 fights the global recession raining gold at the box-office. But stars who really need to prove themselves this year before it's too late are:-

Preity Zinta- Preity had done two films last year Heroes and The Last Lear where in spite of being noticed she dint seem to make any buzz in Bollywood.

Her viewers want to see her original self in roles that she has done in the past in films like Kal Ho Na Ho and Salaam Namaste but unfortunately this year she has only been seen more on the cricket fields than on the silver screen.

All her wellwishers wish her Mohali team wins the IPL and her forthcoming film Har Pal does wonders in the BO and she manages to get offers from Dharma and Yash Raj productions.

Shahid Kapoor- Has lots in store this year to prove himself as last year where his only hit was Jab We Met which was completely dominated by Kareena and she stole all the limelight. His film with Vidya Balan, Kismat Konnection too dint make in waves in the BO maybe because the viewers did not approve their pair.

His love life was also in a mess in spite of being in news for seeing Sania Mirza and Vidya Balan. Nothing seemed to work for him. This year he has YRF's Cricket with Rani Mukerji, Ken Ghosh's musical extravaganza Yahoo with Jiah Khan and Vishal Bhardwaj's Kaminay with Priyanka Chopra. So that means lots to prove himself.

In the personal front too he is said to be dating some Mubina Rattonsey, so we all hope that even in that front things work out well for him.

This year he will be seen in the film Blue where his scuba diving skills and his physique will make the people forget his no acting ability. The other films which he has to hold on to are dad Sanjay Khan's The Legend of Lord Rama and Apoorva Lakhia's.

Fardeen Khan- Has not had a single release last year and he just seems to have disappeared somewhere. The actor was last seen in Ram Gopal's disaster, Darling. He will be seen in the film Dulha mil Gaya in 2009. He also has Sanjay Gupta's much hyped film Acid Factory in his sleeve.

As this film sounds pretty promising hope Fardeen is able to come back with a bang. Apart from this he will also be seen in Abbas Mustan's multi-starrer comic caper Life Partner.

Vivek Oberoi- Over confidence and arrogance are the two words which have become the reason for the failure of this actor even though he can act well. His character of Maya Dola's in Shoot out in Lokhandwala was highly appreciated and he was remembered for it but his film, Mission Istanbul was a dud in the BO.

His upcoming films like a Tips action film called Prince of Thieves, Dharma Productions' film on terrorism alongside Saif and Kareena where he plays a terrorist and a role in Prakash Jha's multi-starrer political thriller Rajneeti sound promising and the characters he s playing seem to have lots of potential so we hope these help him in proving his worth.

Zayed Khan- The only good thing that happened to this star last year was that he became a father. His much hyped films Mission Istanbul and Yuvvraaj were a major disaster and were a complete hint that this star if not anything else definitely needs to attend some acting classes.

Salman Khan- Last but not the least we all hope that 2009 brings in lots of luck for Sallu bhai. His 2008 was really bad where his much hyped film Yuvvraaj was unable to create magic in the box office. This year he has Veer where Salman can once again prove himself and come back in the race.

Sizzle time for Shah Rukh-Kareena

After setting the big screen on fire with 'Yeh Mera Dil' in 'Don', Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor are set to sizzle together in an item song yet again.

The item number 'Marjaani' from 'Billu Barber' has just hit the airwaves and is already getting a lot of attention.

The song is being composed by Pritam and the good news is that the song has lived up to the expectations and is an absolute sizzler.

Kareena is seen sizzling and is matching steps with the nimble footed SRK in the song. Many feel that the number has class and its lilting music is bound to catch on and top the popularity charts.

Kareena and SRK were seen together on screen for the first time in 'Asoka'. Though they didn't click as a pair, the 'sizzle' factor was very much there.

But then Kareena has competition from other girls in 'Billu Barber'.

In two more dance numbers in the film, SRK will be seen shaking a leg with Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone.

Rumour has it that none of the three actresses have accepted any money from SRK for the item numbers and have done it for friendship.

Reportedly the story of 'Billu Barber' revolves around Irrfan Khan, who plays the barber. SRK was originally making a special appearance in the movie but now the makers have decided to increase his footage in the film.

The buzz is that the debacle of 'Kuselan' starring Rajinikanth, the Tamil original on which 'Billu Barber' has led to the makers to think this way!

So SRK becomes the lucky mascot of another one of his home

Three men and Katrina!

Katrina Kaif had a good 2008, thanks to Akshay Kumar and now she'll have three guys vying for her attention in a brand new rom-com.

The movie is being planned by her make-up artist Subhash Singh and will be his first production venture.

He has chosen a subject that puts Katrina at the centre of the plot. Three men will woo her on the lines of 'There's something about Mary'.

Apparently the new producer, along with his partner, the failed actress Prerna Virendra, has finalized Ranbir Kapoor and John Abraham for the two male leads.

But no one has been officially signed yet. Katrina has said 'yes' but is yet to sign on the dotted line.

The make up artiste turned producer thinks that it is a project that does full justice to Katrina's image and will have her in her elements.

Keeping in mind the fact that Katrina's an wooden actress who got lucky, it's really difficult to believe that she will do justice to any role that requires her to emote and act.

The buzz is that Kat seems willing to help her make-up man make a transition into film production. Well, the babe's desperate to show off her so called acting skills as well.

Apparently Aziz Mirza is being considered to direct the film.

We wonder what the fate of the film will be like in the end!

Minissha Lamba in Kidnap
We are sure that, a mere glance at her and your dil will maange more,

The film just did not live up to what was expected of it, but it did make everyone take notice of Minissha's dare-bare bit!

Look at brighter side of life remembering the curvaceous Celina at 6!

For starters, Celina Jaitly is that special someone, looking at whom, not just the toughest of glaciers melt down, but also the hardest of the rocks crumble like a pack of cookies... all in her honour!

Even though MHTHH did not do wonders at the Box-Office, what surely grabbed our attention was her bikini act in the film.

Mallika Sherawat in Ugly Aur Pagli
She's someone whose mere smile will make you experience heaven,
Put your hands together for Mallika Sherawat who's at 7!

And here comes Madame M....Mallika Sherawat! Before the good news, let's tell you the sad news first. The news is that, even though the whole of 2008 saw many a top slot heroines and even wannabes in their 'bikini-cious' best, Madame M was sorely missed and how!

But, guys do not fret for she is THE Mallika Sherawat! So what if the beaches and swimming pools were over crowded, Madame M chose to not just write her own rules but also walk her own path!

She takes to water the way ink takes to a pen
For she is none other than Bollywood's' Honey Hansika at 10!

This child actress-turned-heroine Hansika, who was one of the scene stealers in Koi Mil Gaya, was back in the news the whole of last year with her full-fledged heroine's role in Aap Ka Suroor, in which she was paired opposite Himesh Reshammiya, nonetheless!

This year, all that she did was to emerge out of the waters (literally) in the forgettable flick Money Hai Tho Honey Hai, in a swim suit, even though her swim in Bollywood this year did neither suit nor shoot the Box-Office collections!

Has Deepika dumped Ranbir for a new man?

First boyfriend Nihar Pandya, Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh and now Ranbir Kapoor. Yes, serial dater Deepika could be over latest boyfriend Ranbir as well.

The buzz is that the young couple's relationship is going through rough weather.

Deepika and Ranbir had started dating almost a year back. They were considered a hot, dynamic Bollywood couple and have made loads of news.

But apparently right now they are making news for a dent in their relationship than anything else.. They claim to be together but the news is that they are fighting too much.

Rumour also has it that Deepika has dumped Ranbir Kapoor and is actually dating a new guy. In fact she's been spotted with a mystery man in an uptown multiplex watching 'Ghajini' recently.

According to onlookers she raised eyebrows the moment she entered the gate of the multiplex.

Everyone was expecting Deepika with Ranbir but then they were caught by surprise to see Deepika as the arm candy of someone else.

Reports say that distance is the main reason of their differences. They are too busy and hardly get time to spend together!

So this could be the end of yet another B-Town relationship!

Delhi 6 - Movie Preview

Cast: Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Waheeda Rehman, Om Puri, Amitabh Bachchan
Directed by: Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra

Delhi 6 is a black comedy that exposes people's hypocrisy. In today's world, we are often quick to judge people, but if we look at ourselves very closely, we often find that we're not being fair to others.

Delhi 6 revolves around Roshan, a young American boy of Indian origin. He comes to India for the first time, to drop off his ailing grandmother. She wants to die in her own country, and so prepares for the inevitable.

Having led a western lifestyle, an America-born Roshan is unaware of the sights and sounds, the food and culture, the religion and beliefs that make up Indian society.

After arriving in India, he engages with his grandmother's neighbourhood. He soon mixes and becomes part of the community. But little does Roshan know that this jovial and gregarious group of people have another side to them - they have decided to take advantage of Roshan's naive nature.

The story is shown against the backdrop of the ancient city of Delhi (which is totally different from New Delhi). The city is almost a character in itself, representing the chaos of India, the people, their religions and their beliefs.

The pin code of this old city is 110006. With pride and love they call it Delhi 6.

The film puts across a message that we are quick to judge others, without seeing our own weaknesses. Delhi 6 is directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and could very well prove one of the biggest movies of 2009.

Looking forward to 2009 in Bollywood

The New Year has dawned with a promise of more entertaining and thought-provoking cinema from Bollywood. Will new milestones be reached in 2009? Here’s a look.

If 2008 ended on a promising note, 2009 begins with a bang, with some big banner movies set to hog the marquee. The Bhatt camp’s Raaz - The Mystery Continues and the Sippys’ Chandni Chowk To China with Akshay Kumar at the helm would be the two scene stealers of January, which will also witness the release of Zoya Akhtar’s dark comedy on Bollywood, Luck By Chance , due for January 30 release along with Harman Baweja ’s second film Victory . Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire , a Golden Globe nominee and an Oscar hopeful, might get released in January after its successful run at overseas box office.

The month of February would see the release of movies like Priyadarshan’s Billu Barber and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra ’s Dilli 6.

This year will see directors like Anurag Basu and Imtiaz Ali returning after a break of one year. While the Rakesh Roshan produced Kites can hit the theatres any time around mid year as the movie is still in the making and its major chunk is still to be shot, Imtiaz Ali will comeback with yet another love story, untitled yet, starring Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan .

Rajkumar Hirani will not give any Munnabhai jhappi, but will return with a thought-provoking film that takes a dig at our education system in 3 Idiots which is based on bestseller novel ‘Five Point Someone’ and has Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles. Most likely, ‘3 Idiots’ would close 2009.

Lavishly budgeted movies in this period of recession may appear absurd but they would be one too many in 2009. London Dreams by Vipul Shah, Kambakkth Ishq by Sajid Nadiadwala , and the Salman Khan -written historical drama ‘Veer’ are some of the celluloid mammoths that would roar in 2009. ‘Kambakkth Ishq’ is particularly special as it has some Hollywood biggies in cameos for the first time in an Indian masala movie.

On the contrary, industry giants like Yashraj and Dharma Productions have few movies lined up this year. There is no news as to when Karan Johar’s much anticipated My Name Is Khan with Kajol and Shahrukh Khan is going to release. Possibly, by this year end. Yashraj will begin this year with New York directed by Kabir Khan and starring John Abraham , Neil Nitin Mukesh and Katrina Kaif . Katrina would also be seen in a love story Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani with Ranbir Kapoor .

Himesh Reshammiya will be back with a movie named A Love Issshtory , again paired opposite two beautiful ladies. You can also watch some off-beat parallel cinema like Dev. D , Aur Devdas , Tera Kya Hoga Johnny , Wake Up Sid , Delhi Belly , Lamha , Teen Patti , Johnny Mastana which has Amitabh Bachchan in the lead, Nagesh Kukunoor’s Eight By Ten or the Bipasha Basu starrer Pankh or Mallika Sherawat ’s nagin act in Hisss .

Some serious directors would dabble in comedy for the first time. Ashutosh Gowarikar is trying some rib-tickling humour in What's Your Raashi with Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja. And Vishal Bharadwaj will return with Kaminay which stars Shahid Kapur and Priyanka in the lead.

And not to forget, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is returning back to what he does best and directing a movie with Hrithik and Aishwarya Rai . Ash would also be seen in Mani Ratnam’s next with hubby Abhishek Bachchan .

From the look of it, 2009 holds out a promising spread.

Aishwarya is very special to me: Sanjay Leela Bhansali

The maestro of movie making Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set to return to direction with a film that will star one of his favourite actresses Aishwarya Rai with Hrithik Roshan….a first in the filmmaker's oeuvre.

Neck-deep in pre-production the last thing Sanjay needs is fake reports about actors and films who are allegedly working with him. A wild story about Sanjay signing a Pakistani actor finally persuades him to break his silence. He sets the record straight, once and for all.

You seem to have quietly gone and signed a young Pakistani actor called Imran Abbas for Heera Mandi.
So quietly that even I don't know about it. I haven't signed anyone called Imran Abbas. I'm not making Heera Mandi right now.It may happen much later. When it does we'll think of the casting.

At the moment you're working on another film?
I'm directing another film with Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai. I'm very excited about the film, and so are they.

So no newcomers in this film?
No.I need an experienced crew this time. I need their expertise. I've worked with many newcomers like Ismail Durbar, Nusrat Badr, Shreya Ghosal, Monty Sharma, Ranbir and Sonam.

You continue to be fearless in spite of Saawariya?
This is the time when we filmmakers need to be fearless and experiment with themes. Fearlessness is my biggest asset as a filmmaker. I will continue to make films that come from deep within me.

I cannot make assumptions on people's tastes and make films accordingly. My very first film Khamoshi: The Musical didn't do well at all. A lot of people think it's my best work.

So are you as proud of Saawariya as the rest of your films?
Of course. In fact a Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam or a Devdas can be made again. But Saawariya can never be made again. It's my rarest work in terms of treatment. It had beautiful performances and visuals.

I tried to put a stage-play on film. Of course at the end of the day the audience decides what it likes. But in this case the audience was conditioned not to like Saawariya.

So have you met this Imran chap?
Moin Beg who has written Heera Mandi wanted me to meet this actor. So on Moin's persistence I did meet him almost a year ago. I immediately realized he wasn't the actor I was looking for.

The next thing I know, I'm supposed to be arranging this guy's visa to India. What nonsense! Just because I don't speak out people take advantage of my silence. Please don't exploit my name for your own advantage.

Why don't you clarify the misconceptions when they occur?
Kuch to log kehenge, kehne do. I can't bring myself to become the master of sound bytes. But beyond a point silence is construed as a sign of acceptance.I don't even meet new actors, technicians, musicians or lyricists.

I've already decided whom to work with in my next project. So why waste time meeting people you won't be working with? And why go to Pakistan to get actors? We've very talented people in our own country.

There were reports that some actors including your own protégé Ranbir Kapoor didn't want to work with you?
(laughs) Poor me. People are writing out tragic tales about me every day. They are even deciding what film I'm making and also helpfully casting actresses in them.

There's a whole section of people who spend their time spreading false rumours about my films. I wish them luck. Maybe stories about me sell. I've to believe in my work and focus on it. But when the misrepresentations go beyond my tolerance power it's time speak up.

The truth is, Ranbir and Sonam would be there for me whenever I need them. However at the moment I'm making a film with Hrithik and Aishwarya.

What prompted you to sign Hrithik?
Hrithik and I wanted to work together for a very long time. I've always been impressed by his sincerity as an actor. I was waiting for the right opportunity to sign him. Working with Hrithik would be a new and rewarding experience.

You and Aishwarya created magic in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas. Time for a hat trick?
Aishwarya is very special to me. She suits the role in my new film to perfection. When she read the script she was deeply moved. Of course true friend that she is, she told me she would've agreed to work with me even if I didn't send her the script. But it's important for an actor to be convinced of what he or she is doing.

Will this Hrithik-Aishwarya film be your first for an international market in English?
But Black was also in English. It is important for me to make my films for our market. Having said that we must take our cinema to the remotest corner of the world. Today the spoken language is no barrier. The spoken language in our country is as much Hindi as English. I want to capture that feeling of everyday conversations.

2008 was a great year for you?It was the year when an Indian director was invited for the first time to direct an opera in Paris?
Yes, I had a wonderful a time. I loved directing the opera That was an exceptional honour and an unforgettable experience. I managed to write the script that I wanted to and got the cast I wanted. I may be producing a couple of films. It's been a year of hard and fruitful work. And 2009 will mean even harder work.

Salman and I are not ganging up against Shah Rukh: Aamir Khan

Why was this copyright issue brought up at the last time?
This copyright issue has been with us for quite some time now and the producer of the film Allu Arvind was trying to resolve the issue in the court.

The information I have with me was that the hearing was over by 10th December but the order came on the 23rd December. We appealed on the same day and you won't believe how happy I am today that our film is officially releasing. The producer has deposited Rs. 5 crore in the court and there is no stay on the film.

Whoever has seen the film are saying that there is a lot of violence shown in the film.
The response I've just got before I came in to meet you all is that the film is being appreciated and the kind of advance bookings for Ghajini is the highest ever for a Hindi feature film because it's four times more than the previous films. I am happy that there is a lot of excitement surrounding the film. I am waiting for the response from the audience.

How different or difficult was it to portray a character who talks more with his eyes than his mouth?
To play the character was very difficult but I don't want to say anything about my role. Please let the audiences come out and we will talk then.

Normally a film title is based on the name of a hero or heroine. This one is based on a villain called Ghajini.
The film is called Ghajini because it's the only clue which the hero has. That's the only name he wants to find and kill.

What was your biggest inspiration while you did Ghajini?
Surya, the actor who was in the original Tamil version of the film Ghajini. He has done a fantastic job. After watching the film, I was a bit hesitant whether to do the film or not. I was in two minds. Surya convinced me and said that I was the only one who could do justice to the character. He pushed me to do Ghajini.

As you've now got a lot of hair cutting experience behind you and then the legal hassles to face, do you think aap baal baal bach gaye?
(laughs) I am feeling very relieved and nice to know that there are no more legal hassles.

What have you to say on the paintings gifted to you by Salman Khan which Asin unveiled three days back?
I am truly touched by the gestures of Salman Khan. He is such a great artist and I didn't know that till I saw his work. He has made some amazing paintings on Ghajini and I thank him for that.

How did you relate those paintings with your character in the film?
One of the portraits he has made matches my looks and the personality in the film. The second one is a much conceptualized version of the same.

Pirated cd's and dvd's will be available from day two after the film releases. Aren't you angry?
I am but what can we do about it. No one is ready to take action against this crime.

How true is it that yourself and Salman are forming a team or a camp against SRK?
There is no truth in that at all. I think, Salman, Shah Rukh and me are individuals in our own right. I have a relationship with SRK and Salman. Both are friends and there are no camps or anything like that.

Anushka and Asin, both have made their debut. Who do you think will win an award come 2009?
What awards are you talking about and to whom are you asking this question! (Laughs) Only our audiences can give awards, nobody else.

How do you intend to celebrate Christmas this year?
I am going to be at home with my family for Christmas.

With so much goodwill surrounding you in the industry and your films going to the Oscars and the BAFTA's and people talking good about you and your films, this time around, are you ready to face criticism?
I am always open for criticism.

What if you get to know that Ghajini is not up to the mark?
If people don't like any of my films then I treat it as a learning experience.

What excited you to do Ghajini?
What excited me about this film was the action, the story, the exciting screenplay and above all, the love story in the film. That really won my heart. One of the main reasons I did this film was A.R. Murugadoss.

When I met him it felt like meeting a kid who has this toy in his hand. All my expectations were fulfilled after working with him. He is so clear and understands the film so well that it's really amazing.

The Oscar committee saw Taare Zameen Par and has praised it. What have you got to say about it?
The committee liked the film a lot and the concerned person called me to congratulate me on how good Taare Zameen Par was. That doesn't mean that we are nominated because I am sure he liked other films too. But the fact that he has taken the effort to call was touching and I am very happy about it.

Aamir, I've lost a bit of my memory. Can you please tell me who was the lead actor in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi?
Why do you guys do this to me yaar. You like such things, don't you? One day because of you, I'll be beaten up badly (laughs).

Who according to you has got the best body in business in Bollywood?
In male, it has to be John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan and in females it has to be Kareena Kapoor because she is very good looking and has a great body.

What is your New Year resolution?
I haven't yet thought about it. But I will be going to the theatres to watch my film Ghajini in disguise. Where and how I am going will be kept a secret (laughs).

Why Ayesha Takia has pushed back her wedding date?

The terrible 26/11 Mumbai attacks have changed a lot things for Ayesha Takia as well, just like many others.

If all things had been different, Ayesha would've been busy with her wedding preparations at the moment.

But following the attacks out of respect for the dead and the survivors, she and fiancé, restaurateur Farhan Azmi decided to wisely push their wedding to next year.

The actress had been refusing films for the last six months. She's also been giving sleepless nights to producers and had asked them to wrap up their pending projects with her fast. She has three big releases coming up in 2009- 'Wanted', 'Tasveer' and 'Paathshala'.

But now the lady has changed her stance and has gone ahead and signed a new film!

The actress has taken up south director Revathi Varma's new film. But this director is not Revathy of 'Mitr' and 'Phir Milenge' fame.

Ayesha has reportedly said, "It's a woman-oriented subject and a very interesting concept. It's a sweet story, and is based on the director's life."

At the moment the actress stresses that she isn't disappointed by the postponement and she's unwilling to disclose her wedding date of 2009.

She's added, "As of nothing has been fixed. Let's take it as it comes. The cancellation is nothing compared to the grief the people in Mumbai have faced in the last month. It's better to push my wedding back by a few months than even think of celebrating at a time like this."

Like many sad Mumbaikars, she's not celebrating on Christmas or New Year's Eve celebrations this year.

She's said, "We will sit at home and just spend time with our loved ones."

It's good to see bubbly Ayesha speak like a wise lady!

I have yet to find a boyfriend: Anushka Sharma

boyfriendAnushka Sharma who was kept under wraps by the Yash Raj team is finally out in the open. The actress who has signed a three film contract with Aditya Chopra including Ra Ne Bana Di Jodi has not signed any other film as she is bound by the contract.

The debutant says that she was enjoying being under wraps. “It worked for me and I did not need the hype at that moment. I would not have been able to concentrate on my work” In fact, Anushka says that she could enjoy her shopping sprees without being affected by the glamour.

Anushka who has been a ramp model has never had any acting experience but the actress says she did not have to give retakes, “The longest retake was the scene where we both had to elope and I had to cry. I had cried so much during the rehearsals that when the actual shot was ready I did not have tears in my eyes,” says the debutant.

The actress says that being selected for the role was not much a big deal but the actual test came when Aditya Chopra asked her to her recite dialogues from his super hit film Diwale Dulhaniya Le Jayange. Anushka says that she never dreamt of getting working in bollywood. “I never ever dreamt of movies or acting. Though it is often said that modelling opens doors to bollywood.”

She will never get over their first meeting. “It was on the sets, he was in his terrycot pants and spectacles as Surinder Suri. This was not the cool yuppie, the stylish Shah Rukh I was used to seeing on screen. I didn’t recognize him at first and then couldn’t take my eyes off him. But he sensed my discomfort and immediately put me at ease,” she revealed.

The actress who has had a crush on Shahrukh Khan says she was stunned when she got the offer. “My joy knew no bounds when I knew it was my dream hero” she says. Speaking about Shah Rukh Khan, the debutant says , “Shah Rukh was the most amazing experience of my life. He is so dedicated towards his work and a gem of a person. I have learnt a lot of things from him. I just couldn’t get over our first meeting. I expected him to be cool and stylist but what I saw was the Surinder Sahni on sets and I couldn’t take my eyes off him. But he sensed my discomfort and immediately put me at ease Everyday when we used to start shooting the first sentence he would begin with was ‘be comfortable’.”

The 19 year old is a trained bharatnatyam dancer but had to enrol herself with Shaimak Davar’s to brush her dancing skills. The Bangalore based girl is aware that she hails from the same town as Deepika Padukone and there will be comparisons. “I am part of Bollywood I am open to comparisons and criticisms which are bound to happen. I have worked with Deepika on the ramp but we are not in touch I am looking forward to meeting her now.” What amuses me is that I have been quizzed umpteen number of times about my boyfriend. I have yet to find one” she laughs.

For now the actress is looking forward to working with a great wish list of actors. “My favourite is Rani Mukherjee though” she adds.

Rohan Sippy: Akshay has brought his genius to CC2C

view CHANDNI CHOWK TO... PRESS MEET picture gallery

While RAB NE BANA DI JODI is already a Superhit and GHAJINI is on the way to become one, Bollywood is looking at a hat trick of big money spinners with Akshay Kumar bringing his CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA in three weeks from now. In a way it is quite deserving for Top–3 stars of the country to be giving back to back big hits, especially in the time when recession has impacted Bollywood too in a big way. No wonder, Rohan Sippy, producer of CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA, is mighty excited about the prospects of his film and credits Akshay Kumar for the way it has eventually turned out to be.

"Akshay has brought in his own energy, his genius to the film", says Rohan Sippy when quizzed about Akshay's contribution to the making of the film, not just as an actor but also as someone who actively gets himself involved into the creative aspect of making the film.

"To begin with, there were no restrictions of any kind when CC2C was being made", reveals Rohan, "At every stage of the film, we were open to any ideas that could help it grow further. Akshay would in fact come up with suggestions during the shots and also improvise a lot. Some of the ideas were the kind that were not on paper or anyone's mind but when Akshay incorporated them, they took the film to a different high."

How did Nikhil Advani, the film's director, respond to such 'involvement'? Didn't he resent it?

"Akshay would always bounce off ideas and most of the time Nikhil enjoyed them. When he didn't, he shared his apprehensions. In any case, Akshay wasn't forcing anyone to accept his ideas", says Rohan while putting a full stop to all controversies. For Gossips And Mirch Masala Log On To Bollywood Paradize

Harman to become Harrmann?

view VICTORY videos

Harman Baweja may not have had a good start to his Bollywood career, with his over hyped and super expensive launch vehicle, LOVE STORY 2050, directed by his father failing at the ticket window. But Harman is leaving no stones unturned to see that this story is not repeated again. And for that he is taking extra care to see that his next venture, a big budgeted sports thriller, based on cricket, starring the who's who of the cricketing world, VICTORY, provides him the success that he rightfully deserves.

In order to ensure that he has already started promoting his film and for that he appeared on Dial C for Cricket, an interactive show on Neo Sports and answered questions related to his movie and of course cricket.

Coming to our headlines, there is a buzz that Harman is in consultation with some astrologers and numerologists. One Mumbai based numerologist, Suniiel Naik says that he has suggested that Harman should change the spelling of his name. Most probably Harman may go in for Harrmaann and hold a press conference to announce the change of name, if and when that happens.

Well Harman, or should we say Harrmann, here's wishing you all the luck for your forthcoming endeavours. For Gossips And Mirch Masala Log On To Bollywood Paradize

2009 begins with a heap of releases

view CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA videos

While CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA (arriving on 16th) is the biggest release of January 2009 with RAAZ – THE MYSTERY CONTINUES, which follows a week later, carrying good reports as well, they are not the only ones to kick start the year 2009. Instead, as many as five films would be arriving before these two films, though all on 9th January (which is the second weekend of the year), since traditionally, in the decade gone by, none of the movies released on the first weekend have done well at the box office.

These movies are 42 KMS, BAD LUCK GOVIND, HORN OK PLEASSSS, KAASHH...MERE HOTE and THE PRESIDENT IS COMING. While 42 KMS was earlier titled MARATHON and couldn't see the light of the day, BAD LUCK GOVIND too is a small time film and carried a working title of KISMAT BOLE TOH? earlier on. HORN OK PLEASSSS has been mired in controversy ever since the Nana v/s Tanushree battle made headlines while KAASHH... MERE HOTE just doesn't bring with it positive vibes in spite of a romantic theme. As for THE PRESIDENT IS COMING, one wonders how Rohan Sippy and team would concentrate on its release considering his biggie CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA releases a week later.

No wonder, situation is pretty glum for each of these five movies even as they defy the first weekend jinx. That's because all of them belong to the kind that has been ready for quite some time now and are just being released because no other biggie is interested in arriving during this time frame.

There’s no bad blood between me and Asin

So far Jiah Khan who plays the other leading lady in Ghajini is almost completely missing from the film's promotion and publicity.

Sighs Jiah, "Ghajini is a big film for me. And I'm very happy with my role. As for why I'm not in the promos, what do I say? Wait and watch. The truth will be out when my song Lattoo starts. It's my first big Bollywood item song. And I've been performing to Bollywood songs from the age of 6 in front of the mirror. I've had years of practice. "

Jiah's last (and so far only) film came two years ago. "Nishabd and Ghajini are so different. I needed this kind of a challenge. I'm dressed from head to toe—except for that one song where I transform from a Plain Jane to a femme fatale. I hope they accept me in this role."

No regrets about doing an unconventional film like Nishabd so early in her career?

"None at all. I agree our audiences are still very conservative and Nishabd was a very bold subject. Even in the West Lolita created a huge controversy although they out there are no strangers to sex and nudity.

For me Nishabd was a challenge because I got to work with Mr Bachchan and Mr Varma so early in my career. And to be doing a central role in a film featuring Mr Bachchan. It made me what I am. So I am grateful."

However the challenge for Jiah in Ghajini is to be accepted in a more conventional role. "If I had Mr B as my co-star in the first film, here it's Aamir. Can't get any bigger."

Asin and the rest of Southern crew never made Jiah feel like an outsider. "I love working with the South Indian cast and crew made me feel completely at home."

Reports say she was at loggerheads with the film's other leading lady Asin.

Jiah protests. "I don't have any scenes with Asin. But recently we were in Panchgani together. And we spoke for the first time then. Without a doubt she was amazing in the original Tamil in Ghajini.

This is her first Bollywood film and therefore a big thing. From my side there's no bad blood at all. I think Asin is beautiful. She has been working a long time. This is just my second film. I had a lot to learn from both Asin and Aamir."

Jiah admits she was intimidated by Aamir. "To match up with was quite a tough task. I've grown up by ten years in the last two years."

As For Kangana Ranaut the problems, if any, are over.

Says Jiah, "I saw Fashion and met her and told her she was fabulous. She's a lovely girl. Why would anyone give me trouble? I don't trouble anybody."

Katrina and Preity's unlikely yaari

In Bollywood there have been many actresses who have been friends for a long time. Just how the likes of Kareena Kapoor-Amrita Arora, Koena Mitra-Tanushree Dutta and Kim Sharma-Preity Jhangiani are.

There have been others who have ended their friendships on a sour note. One famous example was when Aishwarya and Rani fell out after Ash got replaced by the Mukerji babe in 'Chalte Chalte'.

The Priyanka-Kareena and the Kareena-Esha Deol friendship also didn't stand the test of time.

There have been more cat fights than girl bonding between two female celebs in Bollywood. Of late there is a buzz that Katrina Kaif and Preity Zinta have struck up a friendship.

Katrina who's considered wooden and cold by many and doesn't have too many females liking her in B-Town says that she absolutely adores Preity Zinta.

Apparently the duo take time out of their busy schedules to chat, shop and hang out with each other.
