Dia and Sanjay Gupta's acid test

Dia Mirza, who is known to be very close to Sanjay Gupta and seen at all Gupta bashes, is now not so happy about being associated with the filmmaker.Dia is currently looking out to resurface in Bollywood but is unhappy that Gupta’s film “Acid Factory” is yet not finished. She is stuck to that film and cannot plan any more dates as Gupta may resume shooting anytime and she would be required to shoot.
However, Dia has made it very clear to Gupta that the constant delay is affecting her career and dates.
Gupta obviously is facing a bad time with recession and did not take her words very kindly. Apparently, he told Dia to keep her opinions to herself!

Kareena Kapoor and her ex-beau Shahid Kapur were a hit pair in "Jab We Met" and the actress says they won't disappoint fans as an on-screen couple in their much delayed "Milenge Milenge" either."I know people have expectations from us individually and as a pair. And they won't be disappointed. It's a very sweet film. And not dated at all though it got delayed. I'm as proud of 'Milenge Milenge' as I am of any of my films," said Kareena, who is currently dating actor Saif Ali Khan.
The romantic comedy by director Satish Kaushik has been in the making since 2005.
Defying all talk that she has been sidelining her only pending assignment with Shahid, Kareena said she had been running in and out of the studio to complete the dubbing before she leaves for a shoot in New York.
"We're all professionals here. For me it doesn't matter who the leading man in 'Milenge Milenge' is. For me what is important is that I made a commitment to two of my favourite people in the industry - producer Boney Kapoor and director Satish Kaushik - who've stood by me from the beginning of my career. How can I let them down? Boney wants a summer release for his film. I've to complete my dubbing before I leave," said Kareena.
"I'm running in and out of two dubbing studios. I've already completed most of the dubbing," she added.
"Milenge Milenge" is special because the former couple will be seen together after Imtiaz Ali's lovable "Jab We Met" in 2007.
Hrithik and Ganesh Hegde create their best work

Hrithik Roshan and ace choreographer Ganesh Hegde created magic with the dance moves in "Koi Mil Gaya" and the two have teamed up again - but this time for a TV commercial for popular biscuit brand Hide-n-Seek."The commercial required a radically different sound concept and what Ganesh conceived, composed and executed was brilliant," Hrithik said in a statement.
"Working on the commercial with Ganesh was a gift from god. After three agonising years with damaged knees, managing to justify his genius choreography was extremely challenging. I'm happy to say that this one is going to be our best yet and the entire credit goes to Ganesh," said the actor, who underwent a knee surgery last year.
The TV ad will be aired later this month.

A recent interview with a magazine saw you coming out full on about your relationship with Ranbir. You seem to have remodelled yourself and become free-speaking and honest!
I don’t think it is anything like new and improved. I have always believed in being honest and that’s what I have done here. May be it is also because now I have a lot more to talk about or have a lot more experience that I can share.
One thing that my father always taught me was to be honest when being interviewed. I have always been honest and answered whatever I have been asked.
It is also important on the journalist’s part to have the right questions as you need a guideline to stick to the kind of questions you would like to ask. And also, ask it in the right way which makes us want to answer it.
Does being open about relationships harm your image as an actress?
I don’t think so. It is important to be honest because somewhere I would anyway get caught. I have been always been very clear about everything that I have said, whether it has been about my relationships or my movies, their failure or success.
What makes you so open about your relationships?
Well, I think I also know where to draw the line. I am not someone who will hide it as I am not embarrassed about being in love as I think it is the most beautiful feeling. But then, as I said, I know where to draw the line and what happens beyond that is something I don’t think people need to know.
Since you are being all honest, tell us, are you uncomfortable about Ranbir’s affinity to Katrina Kaif?
Do I look uncomfortable or worried? (Laughs) I am quite happy about their relationship. They are just friends. All’s very clear and going well.
We hear while Rishi and Neetu Kapoor have accepted your relationship, Ranbir’s sister Riddhima is not quite approving. What do you have to say?
I think it is too early to involve families.
Ranbir is growing his beard for his next film. Do you like him this way or you prefer him clean shaved?
I think that’s up to you to decide how you like him when you see him.
And we hear he has been asked not to mingle in public much so as not to reveal his look. Do you miss partying with him outside?
No one is under house arrest!
Bipasha Basu recently said Ranbir is one of the hottest actors around.
I agree with her.
Talking about films, you did admit that ‘Chandni Chowk To China’s’ failure disappointed you. Would you be honest enough to admit that it was a bad film after all?
Absolutely not! Why would I be a part of it otherwise? Somewhere as an actor you trust your script. I chose to be a part of the film. No one forced me to do so. I trusted my director and trusted my judgment and sometimes you go wrong. But you learn from your mistakes. I definitely don’t regret making the decision, but yes I am disappointed it didn’t do well as we really worked hard to make it.
Akshay Kumar apparently said he would not like to work with you as you were unlucky for him. Your comment please.
I don’t think he would say so. We will be working together very soon in Sajid Khan’s movie ‘Housefull’. We start shooting in June.
Your next project is ‘Love Aaj Kal’ with Saif Ali Khan. Tell us about that.
Thank you for asking as I have been waiting to talk about that one! It is something that I am really looking forward to. Working with Imtiaz (Ali) was a dream for me. Not only because of ‘Jab We Met’. I have also seen his first film ‘Socha Na Tha’ and I think he is an extremely talented director. He is a wonderful person and that comes across in the way he directs his films. Also, ‘Love Aaj Kal’ is very different in terms of the role I play in it.
Saif Ali Khan says you are the most stylish lady in the industry. How do you react? What do you think about Kareena Kapoor?
I am actually very fond of Kareena as an actor. In terms of style, I think we actors very rarely get a chance to dress the way we want to. Usually we dress for a film or an event. We are always dressing the way someone expects us to wear when we go to events.
I think Kareena is looking fabulous after all the weight she has lost. But if Saif has said that about me then thanks to him!
Your ex-boyfriend Nihar Pandya will be debuting with Prashant Chaddha, the director of ‘Aap Ka Surroor’. What would you like to say?
It is something he always wanted to do. He always wanted to be a part of this industry. I would like to wish him all the best.
Getting off the track a bit, how much are you into reading and internet surfing?
I do read when I get the time. Internet is, however, quite restricted to just emails and work-related things. Nothing more than that.
It’s IPL season. Are you watching the matches and who are you supporting?
Yes I am watching IPL. As far as supporting goes, it is a tough choice for me between Mumbai Indians and Bangalore Royal Challengers. I am half here and half there.
Did Shah Rukh Khan invite you to South Africa?
Yes. But who wants to go so far. I wish it was here. I’d rather watch it on TV.
Finally, would you be considering any Hollywood offers?
Most definitely I would.

Salman passes on screen name Prem to Arbaaz

Bollywood star Salman Khan has found a new way to pass on his luck to younger brother Arbaaz Khan - by passing on his lucky screen name Prem.The actor suggested that Arbaaz name his character Prem in his upcoming film "Prem The Game", where he plays the lead.
"Earlier, Arbaaz's character was called by a different name. But Salman suggested that he call his character Prem. So, Arbaaz changed his name to 'Prem'," said a source close to the actor.
Salman's character in 1989 hit "Maine Pyar Kiya" was called Prem and the actor never looked back since then. He later went on to do many films with the same character name as he considered the name lucky. Some of these movies were "Hum Saath-Saath Hain", "Biwi No.1" and "Chal Mere Bhai", among others.

Karan Johar shoots in Mumbai slums for My Name Is Khan

After Slumdog Millionaire, the West wants more of the Mumbai slums. Last week Karan Johar shot some key slum sequences in Borivali with the Slumdog Millionaire kid Tanay Chedda who plays SRK's childhood role in My Name Is Khan, and the incredibly underused Zarina Wahab who plays SRK's mother.Karan chose the boy to play the childhood part of Shah Rukh's life not only because of his facial likeness to Shah Rukh, but also because of Tanay's instant connectivity with the Mumbai slums and thereafter the Western audience.
Says Karan, "Tanay is exceptionally talented. He was able to imbibe Shah Rukh's character traits and use them to make SRK's childhood look convincing."
The director now intends to cast Tanay as junior SRK whenever required, much in the way that Master Mayur played the young Amitabh Bachchan in a series of films.
Karan's exposition on the Muslim identity is expected to reach out to a global non-NRI audience. Though the take-off point for My Name Is Khan is 9/11, not a single shot is taken in New York.
The film is set in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Two of the most expensive cities in the US for shooting. While Karan Johar's production of Rensil D'Silva's Kareena-Saif film on terrorism will have Philadelphia masquerading as New York, Johar's own directorial take on terrorism and the isolation of the working-class Muslim has gone to the two actual US cities were the plot is location.
Karan shot in LA earlier this year. He leaves for San Francisco in May for a 40-day schedule. The first and last Hindi film to be shot in San Francisco was Imtiaz Ali's Love Aaj Kal.
Putting his shoulder surgery behind him, Shah Rukh with best friend Karan Johar and favourite co-star Kajol to accompany him would be gone to San Francisco for 40 days in May and June.
With Aamir Khan vacationing with his children out of the country and SRK busy with IPL, the two purported architects and the mediator Karan Johar for the solution for the multiplex crisis are all out of the loop, putting a large question mark before the deadlock that threatens to shut the film industry.

What did you feel when you first stepped into the seductive red gown you wear in Acid Factory? I was super excited by designers Shantanu and Nikhil's creation. And when I looked at myself in the mirror I said 'Wow'!
Would you wear something like that in real life?
Of course! In fact I wear a lot of seductive clothes and then all my friends exclaim 'Oh, you are looking hot!' It is only that the characters I have portrayed on screen were sweet and innocent, so filmmakers and people cannot imagine me as hot or sexy.
Would you like to do more films presenting you as hot and sexy?
I would like to be presented in many different ways!
How did you feel being the only girl in an all-male film?
I enjoyed all the attention my six co-stars, Aftab Shivdasani, Dino Morea, Danny Denzongpa, Fardeen Khan, Irrfan Khan and Manoj Bajpai showered on me during that 45-day schedule in Hyderabad. However, later I became one of them and then it was on a man-to-man level.
What if six men were to woo you in real life?
It's really never happened, but it would be fun. Like any woman I would bask in all the attention.
Are you likely to woo a man?
Hmmm, I think once in a way it's fun for a woman to chase a man. I would enjoy wooing a man, who is not paying me too much attention, because I would love to know the reason. He'll definitely keep me on my toes.
So what traits in a man would attract you?
At first instant it would be the way he carries himself. That would be in the way he greets me, my family and in the way he treats the help in the house. But of course with time, it has to be about how bright he is, how good a conversationalist, how emotionally intelligent etcetera. The list is long indeed!
Have you met anyone like that?
I have met a lot of interesting men. But no one has managed to have an effect on me in that way for a while.
There were rumours about you being close to Sanjay Gupta and Arshad Warsi!
As long as the people concerned and my family know what the truth is, I don't think I have to clarify rumours.
What made you take up the role of a nerd with negative shades in Jai Veeru?
Okay, so the film and I are not getting rave reviews but I don't regret doing it. I signed it four years back during my lean phase. Things have taken off since, but it does not take away the fact that I was signed when I was fed up of people telling me that I was talented and beautiful but not offering me work.
Otherwise what attracts you to a film?
I leave it to my gut feel! My biggest high is when a filmmaker tells me that no one but I can do the film. Shoojit Sircar's Johnny Mastana (earlier Shoebite) is special because the director told me that.
In Johnny Mastana, you are married to a UK-based businessman and in Kissan you are married to a son of the soil. In real life, would the professions matter to you?
For marriage, lot more things come into play, other than a person's profession. Like how grounded he is, how he gets along with his and my family, how independent he is and his values .
What does marriage mean to you?
It's a life-long journey between two individuals.
Are you a romantic person?
Yes, very. I'm very romantic for my family and all my close friends as well. I love pampering my close ones with gifts and surprises.
Is a candle-lit dinner the ultimate in romance for you?
No. The most romantic gesture I have seen is when a man notices his partner is uncomfortable in a crowded room and without uttering a word he goes across and puts his arm around her. Not a single word spoken, but everything said by that gesture.
Soha's character in 99 has a wild streak

Actress Soha Ali Khan, whose career is going through a dry spell, is now looking forward to her upcoming venture "99" and says that her character in the film has a "wild streak"."I play the character of a girl called Pooja, who is a lobby manager of a hotel floor. She is stylish, confident and vivacious and has a wild streak," Soha told IANS.
"In the film, two conmen played by Kunal Khemu and Cyrus Broacha enter the character's life and since she wants some excitement in her life, she happily joins them. She is a fun character at heart," she added.
The romantic comedy will hit screens in May.
Anushka Sharma loses out on remake of hit Telugu film

Telugu hit "Arundhati" is all set to be remade into Hindi and the makers wanted to cast Anushka Sharma in the title role. But the "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" heroine couldn't be finalised for it because of some misconceptions."They needed someone strong, robust, young and determined and very north Indian as the lead in Hindi. They really wanted Anushka Sharma. She was perfect. But the producer was under the impression that she's under contract with Yash Raj Films and unable to do any outside film," said a source close to the film.
"Now they might settle for the actress who played the lead in the Telugu 'Arundhati' in Hindi. Coincidentally, her name too is Anushka," the source added.
Many producers, including Madhu Mantena, who produced "Ghajini", were vying for the Hindi remake rights. But Telugu producer M. Shyam Prasad Reddy is finally making it in Hindi.
Sonu Sood, who played the main antagonist in the Telugu version and is set to encore the same part in Hindi, confirms these developments.
"I'm excited because we all worked very hard on making the Telugu original something special. Lots of producers wanted to remake it in Hindi. But now the original producer has decided to go for it. The Hindi 'Arundhati' will be far more expensive and polished. We start shooting in June," said Sonu whose last Hindi relase was "Ek Vivaah... Aisa Bhi".
Sood has already started preparing for the part and said: "The Hindi version will have to be severely revised."
Priyadarshan was approached to direct "Arundhati" in Hindi but apparently he wasn't ready to accept the offer at such short notice.
"And the original director Kodi Ramkrishna can't understand Hindi. So we're probably going with a guy named Rahul who did all the special effects in Tamil," said Sonu.
Arjan Bajwa of "Fashion" fame, who played the romantic lead in "Arundhati", is not part of the Hindi remake.
Said Arjan: "They haven't asked me. Even if they had, I wouldn't do it. Have you seen what has been done to my role in the Telugu film?"

Aamir Khan, who has flown to North America with his son Junaid and daughter Ira, will return to Mumbai on April 30 to cast his vote.He will then fly out immediately with wife Kiran Rao for another month long holiday overseas. The reason Kiran couldn’t join Aamir and his two kids right away is because she is busy with the post production of her film Dhobi Ghat and wanted uninterrupted work time. It’s also untrue that Aamir has delayed the shooting of Raju Hirani’s Three Idiots.
When he committed his dates to them, the meticulous actor — who plans even a toilet break with precision — had already told his director of his vacation time between April and June 2009.

The speculation about the state Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s relationship continues.Days after Ranbir Kaboor reportedly criticised Deepika’s dress sense in public and mother Neetu Singh passed her off as just a friend, it’s now the hero’s sister, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, who refuses to acknowledge the couple.
“Ranbir and Deepika are young, talented people and are quite poised and charming,” says Riddhima. When questioned about whether she accepts the two as more than friends, Riddhima says, “They make a good on-screen pair and their chemistry is fine.” But what about their off-screen romance? “I’ve never seen them together in that sense, so I don’t go by the media reports. Jiah Khan signs a two film deal with UTV Motion Pictures

Super-duper hit ‘Ghajini’ has given a push to Jiah Khan’s career who was missing from the scene after ‘Nishabd’. Now, Jiah has signed a two film deal with UTV Motion Pictures.
Jiah confirmed the news saying, “UTV has signed me for two of their future films to be started later this year.” Ram Mirchandani, CEO, UTV Rampage Motion Pictures, added, “Jiah is a wonderful actor with some amazing talent. We have signed her for our next projects and really look forward to working with her.”
There were rumors that Jiah had been dropped out of UTV’s last project ‘Yahoo’, but the actress clarified the rumor saying, “After the changes they made in the script, I felt that I don’t suit the character.”
UTV has also clarified that Jiah left “Yahoo” after creative changes were made to the script.
“Speculations in the industry about Jiah Khan being dropped out of Ken Ghosh’s project are completely erroneous. It was a mutual decision whereby Jiah opted out of the project seeing a misfit between the character and Jiah,” Mirchandani said.
Directed by Ken Ghosh, “Yahoo” features Shahid Kapur in the male lead.

Priyanka Chopra has faced two health scares over the period of one week. Just a week back, she fainted on the sets of director Ashutosh Gowarikar’s film ‘What’s Your Raashi’ due to fatigue and exhaustion and now, this Saturday, she was admitted to a hospital after feeling acute stomach pain and physical exhaustion. A number of tests were conducted and the lady was advised complete bed rest for a few days.
Priyanka has now been discharged from Kokilaben Hospital in Andheri, Mumbai late afternoon on Monday, April 13. However, the actress still looked very weak.
Her father, Dr. Ashok Chorpa said, “She had fever and had been unwell for some time. We advised her to take a battery of tests and so she has been kept under observation. Though all her test reports are normal, she has been advised to take rest and to slow down her work schedule.”
He further added, “We are leaving for a long family vacation, but Priyanka first wants to complete Ashutosh Gowariker’s film (first week of May).”
