She will be called 'Queen of DPL' on the show
After a string of big ticket celebrities who have taken to reality shows on the small screen, it's now actress Rani Mukerji's turn. She is set to judge Sony TV's "Rin Dance Premier League" (DPL) along with actor Arshad Warsi and dance guru Shiamak Davar.According to the channel, Rani will add to the scale, glamour and credibility of the show that premiered on Friday (Oct 9). She will be called "Queen of DPL" on the show and will decide the fortunes of the competing teams.
While Shiamak Davar will be evaluating performances and setting the difficulty level as the competition progresses as an 'umpire' on the show, Arshad will be a ‘guest judge' for the auditions.
The show will have teams from different zones from across the country as well as abroad competing with each other. It is expected to highlight India's rich and diverse culture as each regional team will bring its own unique flavour to the performances.
Every zone will comprise of eight dancers and will be guided by their coach. Choreographers like Pappu Malu, Nagendra Prasad, Uma-Gaiti, Harshall-Vitthal, Mini Johny and Howard Rosemeyer will be donning the role of mentors.
Popular TV celebrities Eijaz Khan and Sara Khan will host the weekend show.
Produced by Cineyug, the show has already been backed by actors like Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Sohail Khan, Bipasha Basu and other celebrities like Kapil Dev, Anil Kumble, Sanjay Banger, Baichung Bhutia and rapper Hard Kaur.

With a petite frame and a million watt smile, Rani Mukherjee knows to charm her audience in real as well as reel life.
Her recent release might not have rocked the box-office, but she comes up with that million watt smile of hers. It is easy to see that she is happy. Ask her about her disappearing act before her present release, and pat comes the reply, “We actors are like vagabonds. We accustom ourselves to the surroundings, and go so deep that we need time to come out. People feel it’s so simple to make a movie. I like giving my best to a movie I work in. I want my work to speak volumes, and for that I have to give my it my 100 per cent. That is why I was away from the scene.”
While others in the industry describe her as one of the most versatile actresses, Rani wants to surprise everyone every time. “I like giving my audience their paisa vasooli. I want to do an action film which will get my adrenaline high, do something I have never done before. I want to do a real Indian martial art film. We have a martial art culture down south and even Punjabi martial art is so interesting. Nobody ever shows that. There are some TV shows where they came with such fighting styles. They really intrigue me,” she says.

Bollywood actress Rani Mukherji, who essays a sport-loving Sikh character in her upcoming release 'Dil Bole Hadippa' says she feels challenged when critics write her off.
"I feel challenged when detractors push me to an edge. When critics crush me, I bounce back," Rani, who has undergone a complete makeover for the film said.
'Dil Bole Hadippa' is not a 'make or break' film of my career. Success and failure is not in my hands. I just want to enjoy my work as an actor," Rani who is paired opposite Shahid Kapur for the first time in the movie, said.
Rani said she started work for 'Hadippa' immediately after her last release 'Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic' last year.
The actress said that since she was playing the role of an athlete, she decided to be completely fit.
"It was a demanding film because I was playing a boy as well as a cricketer. I underwent six months of training right from learning how to hold a bat. I have given my heart and soul to the film," Rani, who plays Veera as well as Veer, a Sikh boy, said.
"I trained in Yoga, cardio, weight training which helped my skin to glow and my diet included oats, brown rice and jowar roti. I have lost 7 kg and am feeling good and physically fit. Now, I can pull off an action film," she said.
Speaking about the movie, she said, "Its a vibrant and happy film. I have ensured that my Sikh character is not a caricature."
"Veer is an very interesting role and close to my heart," Rani said adding it was a strange moment for her to look at herself as a man.
She said there was no similarility between Veera and Babli from her earlier movie 'Bunty aur Babli' except that they both hail from small town.
Expressing anguish at continuous rumours about her marriage and working only for Yash Raj banner, Rani said, "I respect my privacy. This does not mean that my detractors continue to run me down and make me a person which I am not."
She said her family has been her support system. "My neice gives me great positive energy. It's wonderful to see her grow up," she said.
The actress said she wanted to work with filmmakers like Vishal Bharadwaj and other prominent directors.
"I am waiting for good scripts and roles. But, unfortunately the roles which have come to me so far have not excited me enough," she said.
"The films I have rejected may have become superhits, but they would not have helped me as an actor. The filmmakers would have surely benefited by having me," she said.
When asked about she being paired opposite younger hero like Shahid Kapur, Rani said, "He is a very focused actor and I like such artistes

The video of the remix version of Dil Bole Hadippa, which is reminiscent of Break Free and Dhoom Again, features a super slim Rani Mukherjee in bikini tops and mini skirts.
The video has been choreographed by Ahmed Khan, who also did the Mere Sang and Yaaron remix videos. Rani’s costumes have been designed by Manish Malhotra, who also worked on her look in the Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte video.A source tells us, “Shahid is a brilliant and energetic dancer and Rani, who is also a graceful dancer has matched him step for step. It has been a while since we saw her dancing like this. The promotional video is likely to be used at the end of the film.”
Our source continues, “So far we have seen Rani in Sardarni and cricketer avatars in the movie. This is her other look. The film already has wannashine starlets Rakhi Sawant and Sherlyn Chopra doing item numbers with a lot of skin show but obviously, they don’t have Rani’s class, finesse and star power. Rani doesn’t look vulgar or cheap at all. Almost all YRF movies have their heroines in bikinis; take the Dhoom flicks, Tashan and Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic for example. The actresses have lost weight for their roles and Rani is no exception. She has lost a lot of weight and it shows. The last time she wore a costume was in Chalte Chalte.”
Payal Gidwani, who made Kareena achieve her size zero figure has helped Rani with her Yoga routine too. She told us, “Rani weighed 56 kilos but now she weighs only 49. Her hard work has paid off and the results are for everyone to see. Her problem was her lower area but now the structure of her body has changed. Her metabolism and stamina have also increased. There is a glow on her face and she looks great. She doesn’t miss a single Yoga session even if she is traveling and practices for 2 hours every morning.”

Dil Bole Hadippa and What’s your Rashee will be screened at the festival along with other foreign films. Both Rani and Harman are banking on these films for their fate in Bollywood will be sealed after their release. Considering Rani has been out of the scene since a while now and Harman’s bad luck is making the most of him, the added attention the film’s get is only better.What’s your Rashee stars Harman Baweja and his more successful ex-girlfriend Priyanka Chopra. While Piggy Chops has nothing to worry about, Harman’s last two films Love Story 2050 and Victory sank without a trace. The same could go for Rani, Laaga Chunari mein Daag and Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic were unbearable boxoffice duds and she’s going all the way for Dil Bole Hadippa. Right from havans and pooja’s, she’s doing the very best to ward off the evil from her filmi career.
Rani plays a woman impersonating a man in the Shahid starrer Dil Bole Hadippa and the film has been touted as a direct lift off Amanda Bynes’s She’s the Man. Whereas What’s your Rashee, is Ashutosh Gowarikar’s effort in making something less patriotic and periodic.
Whether or not the two films will make news at the festival, we don’t know but let’s just hope the Raashee of both these films fare better than the actor’s career’s themselves!

The Rani Mukherjee-Rakhi Sawant connection began with the movie Saawariya. The resemblance between Rani Mukherjee’s character in the movie and Rakhi Sawant was quite obvious to all. Now, Rani is all set to perform an item number in her upcoming flick Dil Bole Hadippa! with none other than the original item girl of Bollywood – Rakhi Sawant.
The song is a Punjabi track composed by Pritam and is called ‘Bhangra Bistar’. It has been sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Alisha Chinai, the lucky mascots for Yash Raj Films who gave the hits ‘Kajrare’ in Bunty Aur Babli and ‘Dhoom Machale’ in Dhoom.As stated by a source, “As Rani is dressed like a man for the major part of the film, the idea was to get Rani to do that one sizzling feminine number to balance the gender bender. Just like Saira Banu did a ‘Thoda sa thehro’ in Victoria No. 203 where she was dressed as man, Rani has ‘Bhangra bistar’ in Dil Bole Hadippa!”
The dusky beauty Rani is concentrating on shaping herself up before they begin to rehearse for the song. She is viewing the dance with the hot Rakhi as a challenge. The movie is slated to release in September 2009.
