Sizzle time for Shah Rukh-Kareena

After setting the big screen on fire with 'Yeh Mera Dil' in 'Don', Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor are set to sizzle together in an item song yet again.

The item number 'Marjaani' from 'Billu Barber' has just hit the airwaves and is already getting a lot of attention.

The song is being composed by Pritam and the good news is that the song has lived up to the expectations and is an absolute sizzler.

Kareena is seen sizzling and is matching steps with the nimble footed SRK in the song. Many feel that the number has class and its lilting music is bound to catch on and top the popularity charts.

Kareena and SRK were seen together on screen for the first time in 'Asoka'. Though they didn't click as a pair, the 'sizzle' factor was very much there.

But then Kareena has competition from other girls in 'Billu Barber'.

In two more dance numbers in the film, SRK will be seen shaking a leg with Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone.

Rumour has it that none of the three actresses have accepted any money from SRK for the item numbers and have done it for friendship.

Reportedly the story of 'Billu Barber' revolves around Irrfan Khan, who plays the barber. SRK was originally making a special appearance in the movie but now the makers have decided to increase his footage in the film.

The buzz is that the debacle of 'Kuselan' starring Rajinikanth, the Tamil original on which 'Billu Barber' has led to the makers to think this way!

So SRK becomes the lucky mascot of another one of his home

Three men and Katrina!

Katrina Kaif had a good 2008, thanks to Akshay Kumar and now she'll have three guys vying for her attention in a brand new rom-com.

The movie is being planned by her make-up artist Subhash Singh and will be his first production venture.

He has chosen a subject that puts Katrina at the centre of the plot. Three men will woo her on the lines of 'There's something about Mary'.

Apparently the new producer, along with his partner, the failed actress Prerna Virendra, has finalized Ranbir Kapoor and John Abraham for the two male leads.

But no one has been officially signed yet. Katrina has said 'yes' but is yet to sign on the dotted line.

The make up artiste turned producer thinks that it is a project that does full justice to Katrina's image and will have her in her elements.

Keeping in mind the fact that Katrina's an wooden actress who got lucky, it's really difficult to believe that she will do justice to any role that requires her to emote and act.

The buzz is that Kat seems willing to help her make-up man make a transition into film production. Well, the babe's desperate to show off her so called acting skills as well.

Apparently Aziz Mirza is being considered to direct the film.

We wonder what the fate of the film will be like in the end!

Ten Hottest Bikini Babes of 2008

Kareena Kapoor in Tashan
It's the time to crown the Numero Uno,
Friends, put your hands together for the Size-Zeroed and Tashan-able Kareena Kapoor (as if you didn't know!)

Let's confess that we did become a victim of 'skin-tillating' Kareena Kapoor, who, not just justified, but also glorified the art of flaunting a bikini in the much-publicized film Tashan.

It was indeed sad to see the film fall down with a thud, with the same velocity it was hyped to the skies!

Needless to say that, Kareena rocked in many ways than one, including her Size Zero act and the 'eye-candylicious' swimsuit do! You really rocked the scene, Bebo!

Priyanka Chopra in Dostana
Whenever she goes out to shop, everybody shout 'Me Too Me Too"
We are indeed talking about the 'Friendly' Priyanka Chopra who's at 2!

For those who went to see Dostana to check out the double whammy jodi of the happy and gay couple of John-Abhishek...were actually in for a double whammy of the 'other kind'.

It was in the form of the swimsuit act by Dostana's leading lady Priyanka Chopra! The actress flaunted her toned body like never before. And surely made everyone stand up and take notice of her 'Golden Swimwear'.

Mugdha Godse in Fashion
They say 'Nothing in the world is free',
We say, 'Who cares! As far as we get even a glimpse of the Fashion-able Mugdha at 3!

It's not that everyday that you get to become the 'show-stopper' of your debut film itself!

But Bollywood's latest sweetheart Mugdha Godse, dared to defy this saying with her true-to-thou bikini act in the smash hit film Fashion, directed by none other than Mr. 'Reality' himself: Madhur Bhandarkar!

Bollywood heroines generally have huge inhibitions to shed their clothes in their debut film, but Mugdha not just dared to be different, but also, gave a true-to-life performance in Fashion. Proof of which can be seen in the swimsuit round that got prime rotation amongst the prime channels!

Minissha Lamba in Kidnap
We are sure that, a mere glance at her and your dil will maange more,
For she's Minissha Lamba...Kidnap-ing your eyeballs at 4!

They say that big surprises come in small packages. If we had it our way, then, we would have surely rephrased the same as 'Big surprise comes in Mini (ssha) packages', courtesy her jaw-drooping and jaw-dropping swimsuit act in the much-publicized film Kidnap.

The film just did not live up to what was expected of it, but it did make everyone take notice of Minissha's dare-bare bit!

Her emerging out of the ice-cold water in her hot white bikini was quite a steamy combination! Way to go, Minissha!

Shilpa Shetty in Dostana
Humans lose their way home; the way bees lose the way to their hive
When they look at the Bouncing Shilpa Shetty, who is at 5!

Since the time she made her debut in the smash hit Baazigar, this 'Miss Long Legs' has been in the news for some reason or the other.

Lately, it's been her 'Big Brother' episode, her 'power-packed' yoga DVDs or her scintillating swimwear show in Dostana-the massive hit of 2008, with which this girl has surely 'bounced' her way to the top!

Even though Miss Shetty was seen in a special appearance in Dostana in the 'Shut Up And Bounce' track, her presence doubled up as a neatly packaged present to all the cine goers!

Celina Jaitly in Money Hai Toh Honey Hai
Whenever life puts you in a tight spot or a fix,
Look at brighter side of life remembering the curvaceous Celina at 6!

For starters, Celina Jaitly is that special someone, looking at whom, not just the toughest of glaciers melt down, but also the hardest of the rocks crumble like a pack of cookies... all in her honour!

Even though MHTHH did not do wonders at the Box-Office, what surely grabbed our attention was her bikini act in the film.

Mallika Sherawat in Ugly Aur Pagli
She's someone whose mere smile will make you experience heaven,
Put your hands together for Mallika Sherawat who's at 7!

And here comes Madame M....Mallika Sherawat! Before the good news, let's tell you the sad news first. The news is that, even though the whole of 2008 saw many a top slot heroines and even wannabes in their 'bikini-cious' best, Madame M was sorely missed and how!

But, guys do not fret for she is THE Mallika Sherawat! So what if the beaches and swimming pools were over crowded, Madame M chose to not just write her own rules but also walk her own path!

For the deprived lot, relief came in the form of Sachin Khot's debut film Ugly Aur Pagli. Even though the film's shoot did not have a swimsuit to suit Madame's persona', she still left the audiences gasping for breath with her dressed to thrill and kill kind of dress!

Ameesha in Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic
We no longer can hold, we no longer can wait,
To see Thoda Water Poori Hotter babe Ameesha at 8!

She didn't just drop a bombshell by dropping her surname; she also dropped her inhibitions by sporting a swimsuit in the box-office disaster Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic.

Even though the film ducked at the box-office, Ameesha's performance in the film emerged unscathed and untouched by the critics' swords and words!

Sameer Reddy in Race
For us, a sea food lunch with this hottie will be just fine
Friends, presenting Sameera Reddy Race-ing her way at 9!

Here is one helluva' of a girl, who after having waited for long for someone to blow the whistle and shout 'Reddy steady go', did win the 'Race' early this year with her swim suit act opposite the 'Never say old' actor Anil Kapoor!

Even though the film went onto to be one of the early hits of the year 2008, Sameera still has to find her place under the Bollywood sun!

Hansika Motwani in Money Hai Toh Honey Hai
She takes to water the way ink takes to a pen
For she is none other than Bollywood's' Honey Hansika at 10!

This child actress-turned-heroine Hansika, who was one of the scene stealers in Koi Mil Gaya, was back in the news the whole of last year with her full-fledged heroine's role in Aap Ka Suroor, in which she was paired opposite Himesh Reshammiya, nonetheless!

This year, all that she did was to emerge out of the waters (literally) in the forgettable flick Money Hai Tho Honey Hai, in a swim suit, even though her swim in Bollywood this year did neither suit nor shoot the Box-Office collections!

Delhi 6 - Movie Preview

Cast: Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Waheeda Rehman, Om Puri, Amitabh Bachchan
Directed by: Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra

Delhi 6 is a black comedy that exposes people's hypocrisy. In today's world, we are often quick to judge people, but if we look at ourselves very closely, we often find that we're not being fair to others.

Delhi 6 revolves around Roshan, a young American boy of Indian origin. He comes to India for the first time, to drop off his ailing grandmother. She wants to die in her own country, and so prepares for the inevitable.

Having led a western lifestyle, an America-born Roshan is unaware of the sights and sounds, the food and culture, the religion and beliefs that make up Indian society.

After arriving in India, he engages with his grandmother's neighbourhood. He soon mixes and becomes part of the community. But little does Roshan know that this jovial and gregarious group of people have another side to them - they have decided to take advantage of Roshan's naive nature.

The story is shown against the backdrop of the ancient city of Delhi (which is totally different from New Delhi). The city is almost a character in itself, representing the chaos of India, the people, their religions and their beliefs.

The pin code of this old city is 110006. With pride and love they call it Delhi 6.

The film puts across a message that we are quick to judge others, without seeing our own weaknesses. Delhi 6 is directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and could very well prove one of the biggest movies of 2009.

Looking forward to 2009 in Bollywood

The New Year has dawned with a promise of more entertaining and thought-provoking cinema from Bollywood. Will new milestones be reached in 2009? Here’s a look.

If 2008 ended on a promising note, 2009 begins with a bang, with some big banner movies set to hog the marquee. The Bhatt camp’s Raaz - The Mystery Continues and the Sippys’ Chandni Chowk To China with Akshay Kumar at the helm would be the two scene stealers of January, which will also witness the release of Zoya Akhtar’s dark comedy on Bollywood, Luck By Chance , due for January 30 release along with Harman Baweja ’s second film Victory . Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire , a Golden Globe nominee and an Oscar hopeful, might get released in January after its successful run at overseas box office.

The month of February would see the release of movies like Priyadarshan’s Billu Barber and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra ’s Dilli 6.

This year will see directors like Anurag Basu and Imtiaz Ali returning after a break of one year. While the Rakesh Roshan produced Kites can hit the theatres any time around mid year as the movie is still in the making and its major chunk is still to be shot, Imtiaz Ali will comeback with yet another love story, untitled yet, starring Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan .

Rajkumar Hirani will not give any Munnabhai jhappi, but will return with a thought-provoking film that takes a dig at our education system in 3 Idiots which is based on bestseller novel ‘Five Point Someone’ and has Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles. Most likely, ‘3 Idiots’ would close 2009.

Lavishly budgeted movies in this period of recession may appear absurd but they would be one too many in 2009. London Dreams by Vipul Shah, Kambakkth Ishq by Sajid Nadiadwala , and the Salman Khan -written historical drama ‘Veer’ are some of the celluloid mammoths that would roar in 2009. ‘Kambakkth Ishq’ is particularly special as it has some Hollywood biggies in cameos for the first time in an Indian masala movie.

On the contrary, industry giants like Yashraj and Dharma Productions have few movies lined up this year. There is no news as to when Karan Johar’s much anticipated My Name Is Khan with Kajol and Shahrukh Khan is going to release. Possibly, by this year end. Yashraj will begin this year with New York directed by Kabir Khan and starring John Abraham , Neil Nitin Mukesh and Katrina Kaif . Katrina would also be seen in a love story Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani with Ranbir Kapoor .

Himesh Reshammiya will be back with a movie named A Love Issshtory , again paired opposite two beautiful ladies. You can also watch some off-beat parallel cinema like Dev. D , Aur Devdas , Tera Kya Hoga Johnny , Wake Up Sid , Delhi Belly , Lamha , Teen Patti , Johnny Mastana which has Amitabh Bachchan in the lead, Nagesh Kukunoor’s Eight By Ten or the Bipasha Basu starrer Pankh or Mallika Sherawat ’s nagin act in Hisss .

Some serious directors would dabble in comedy for the first time. Ashutosh Gowarikar is trying some rib-tickling humour in What's Your Raashi with Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja. And Vishal Bharadwaj will return with Kaminay which stars Shahid Kapur and Priyanka in the lead.

And not to forget, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is returning back to what he does best and directing a movie with Hrithik and Aishwarya Rai . Ash would also be seen in Mani Ratnam’s next with hubby Abhishek Bachchan .

From the look of it, 2009 holds out a promising spread.

Aishwarya is very special to me: Sanjay Leela Bhansali

The maestro of movie making Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set to return to direction with a film that will star one of his favourite actresses Aishwarya Rai with Hrithik Roshan….a first in the filmmaker's oeuvre.

Neck-deep in pre-production the last thing Sanjay needs is fake reports about actors and films who are allegedly working with him. A wild story about Sanjay signing a Pakistani actor finally persuades him to break his silence. He sets the record straight, once and for all.

You seem to have quietly gone and signed a young Pakistani actor called Imran Abbas for Heera Mandi.
So quietly that even I don't know about it. I haven't signed anyone called Imran Abbas. I'm not making Heera Mandi right now.It may happen much later. When it does we'll think of the casting.

At the moment you're working on another film?
I'm directing another film with Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai. I'm very excited about the film, and so are they.

So no newcomers in this film?
No.I need an experienced crew this time. I need their expertise. I've worked with many newcomers like Ismail Durbar, Nusrat Badr, Shreya Ghosal, Monty Sharma, Ranbir and Sonam.

You continue to be fearless in spite of Saawariya?
This is the time when we filmmakers need to be fearless and experiment with themes. Fearlessness is my biggest asset as a filmmaker. I will continue to make films that come from deep within me.

I cannot make assumptions on people's tastes and make films accordingly. My very first film Khamoshi: The Musical didn't do well at all. A lot of people think it's my best work.

So are you as proud of Saawariya as the rest of your films?
Of course. In fact a Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam or a Devdas can be made again. But Saawariya can never be made again. It's my rarest work in terms of treatment. It had beautiful performances and visuals.

I tried to put a stage-play on film. Of course at the end of the day the audience decides what it likes. But in this case the audience was conditioned not to like Saawariya.

So have you met this Imran chap?
Moin Beg who has written Heera Mandi wanted me to meet this actor. So on Moin's persistence I did meet him almost a year ago. I immediately realized he wasn't the actor I was looking for.

The next thing I know, I'm supposed to be arranging this guy's visa to India. What nonsense! Just because I don't speak out people take advantage of my silence. Please don't exploit my name for your own advantage.

Why don't you clarify the misconceptions when they occur?
Kuch to log kehenge, kehne do. I can't bring myself to become the master of sound bytes. But beyond a point silence is construed as a sign of acceptance.I don't even meet new actors, technicians, musicians or lyricists.

I've already decided whom to work with in my next project. So why waste time meeting people you won't be working with? And why go to Pakistan to get actors? We've very talented people in our own country.

There were reports that some actors including your own protégé Ranbir Kapoor didn't want to work with you?
(laughs) Poor me. People are writing out tragic tales about me every day. They are even deciding what film I'm making and also helpfully casting actresses in them.

There's a whole section of people who spend their time spreading false rumours about my films. I wish them luck. Maybe stories about me sell. I've to believe in my work and focus on it. But when the misrepresentations go beyond my tolerance power it's time speak up.

The truth is, Ranbir and Sonam would be there for me whenever I need them. However at the moment I'm making a film with Hrithik and Aishwarya.

What prompted you to sign Hrithik?
Hrithik and I wanted to work together for a very long time. I've always been impressed by his sincerity as an actor. I was waiting for the right opportunity to sign him. Working with Hrithik would be a new and rewarding experience.

You and Aishwarya created magic in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas. Time for a hat trick?
Aishwarya is very special to me. She suits the role in my new film to perfection. When she read the script she was deeply moved. Of course true friend that she is, she told me she would've agreed to work with me even if I didn't send her the script. But it's important for an actor to be convinced of what he or she is doing.

Will this Hrithik-Aishwarya film be your first for an international market in English?
But Black was also in English. It is important for me to make my films for our market. Having said that we must take our cinema to the remotest corner of the world. Today the spoken language is no barrier. The spoken language in our country is as much Hindi as English. I want to capture that feeling of everyday conversations.

2008 was a great year for you?It was the year when an Indian director was invited for the first time to direct an opera in Paris?
Yes, I had a wonderful a time. I loved directing the opera That was an exceptional honour and an unforgettable experience. I managed to write the script that I wanted to and got the cast I wanted. I may be producing a couple of films. It's been a year of hard and fruitful work. And 2009 will mean even harder work.
