Pataudi gets to meet its Bahu, Kareena!!!

Kareena Kapoor is all set to take her relationship with Saif to another level. She'll be visiting his ancestral village Pataudi in Haryana. A privilege that none of Saif ladies from the past have been given.

Confesses Saif, "Yes, Kareena has been invited to Pataudi. It'd have been earlier. But it's too hot right now. Winter is when our family reunions happen every year. And Kareena is now part of the family. My parents are extremely fond of Kareena."

Sighs Saif, "This relationship is 'IT' for me. Today I feel very settled and very happy. Though a bit lonely. And when I've bad days I feel I'm being ungrateful. I'm now looking forward to settling down with Kareena.

Our marriage will happen very shortly as soon as we both have a little less work on hand and we can give the marriage quality time. Also, her family has to be ready for our marriage."

Saif is very happy with Kareena's mom. "We're very close. She has been really gracious in inviting me into her family.

She's made sure I'm part of her family. I've also met Daboo Uncle a few times, shared friendly drinks with her. As for Karisma, I think she's the sweetest girl ever in the world. I'm deeply fond of both Karisma and her husband Sanjay. They're truly wonderful people. Kareena's family has taken to me as warmly as my family has taken to her."

Saif has a lot to be thankful for. "My lifestyle has changed completely after the heart attack. Looking back it's hard to believe I went through such a health scare.

If it wasn't for that life-changing experience I wouldn't be in a relationship with Kareena right now. I hardly drink. Don't even look forward to drinking any more. I don't smoke or party."

All because of love.

I wasn't competing with Shilpa: Priyanka

Shilpa Shetty is enjoying all the 'oohs' and 'aahs' from the audience with her sexy act in 'Shut Up and Bounce' number from Dostana. However, Priyanka Chopra is not loosing any sleep with the popularity of the song and the item girl in it, especially since she has her own 'Desi Girl' to cheer about.

"In any case, I wasn't competing with Shilpa Shetty in Dostana. Of course 'Desi Girl' is fantastic but so is 'Shut Up and Bounce'. I knew about the song placement from the very beginning", says Priyanka Chopra who is getting quite some accolades coming her way after Fashion and now Dostana.

But didn't she ever wish that she could have bagged 'Shut Up and Bounce' as well?

"Well, I have the remaining five songs in the film to my name so no regrets with one song featuring someone else", smiles Priyanka, "Also, the song's placement was such that it required introducing the beach life of Miami to the audience at the very beginning of the film. Now since I make an appearance a little later, it wouldn't have made sense for the song to be picturised on me."

What does she feel about Shilpa Shetty fitting the bill eventually?

"Absolutely the right choice", Priyanka doesn't blink an eyelid here, "For a vibrant city like Miami, it was absolutely essential to have a female with a great body and who better than Shilpa to do the honors.

This composition by Vishal and Shekhar absolutely rocks and the way Tarun Mansukhani, the film's director, has got it on screen is just perfect. I am very happy with the final result and glad that it is being noticed and becoming so popular with the audience. It only helps the film."

Vivek is an idiot but who is SRK: Salman Khan

Salman Khan is in no mood to make peace with his enemies.

Of late he's been giving a lot of honest answers. So honest, that it can very well become very hard for the rest to handle!

A couple of years back when he was angry with John Abraham, he'd shockingly said, "Who's John Abraham?"

Now he's busy making his displeasure evident about SRK.

In a recent interview with a foreign magazine he's asked, "Who's SRK? I have never heard about him before."

Well, his remarks on actor Vivek Oberoi were even harsher.

He's said, "Vivek Oberoi is merely a guy who likes to stand next to celebrities for photographers to click at him. I would just call him an idiot"

Sallu is in no mood to forgive and forget. After all VO did offend him big time some five years ago because of a certain Miss Ash.

But then the guy still has nothing to say against ex love Ash or her family.

He's said, "I am friendlier with the Bachchan family. I have paired up with Amitabh Bachchan for a couple of films and a flick with Abhishek Bachchan. They are good performers on the screen and it was nice working with them".

This one sure seems to be a brutally honest guy!

Celina floors rugby superstar Monty Beetham

Violently ill and shivering with the cold at the premiere of her first international film Love Has No Language in Auckland on Nov 5, Celina Jaitley rubbed shoulders with the crème de la crème of New Zealand. And that too in the pouring rain.

"It was the grandest premiere I ever attended, " gushes Celina.Days after the premiere she's in a daze.

"800 Asians turned up to meet me besides the 325 formal invitees. We had the crème de la crème of New Zealand attending, including television film and sports personalities."

Prominent in the sports section of attendees was New Zeland's rugby star Monty Beetham who was quite taken up with Celina. Apparently his eyes trailed our Celina across the premiere venue.

Laughs Celina, "I'm no stranger to male attention. Though I met Beetham only briefly I believe he was quite taken up by what he called the Indian beauty. I was just floored by all the attention I got."

Hours before the premiere Celina wasn't sure she would be able to attend."I was down with this acute tummy infection. I was doubling up with cramps and pain. I really thought I wouldn't be able to attend. But at the last minute I squeezed into my Manish Malhotra gown and dragged myself to the red carpet. The effort was worth it."

The movie got a standing ovation. "Not only that people stood in the pouring rain for autographs and pictures. I tried to oblige everyone. The New Zealanders are extremely warm. As I shook hands them the freezing cold melted away. Never mind my gown shrank into a mini-skirt."

Celina cuts down all chances of a romance with her co-star. She describes her Love Has No Language co-star Ben Mitchell as scary and horrifying. "He scared the hell out of me with bugs and butterflies all the time.

Believe it or not I'm terrified of butterflies. And although the film is called Love Has No Language I couldn't understand anything he said because of his Kiwi accent.Maybe because I wasn't really in love with him."

Want exposure? Catch Kim in a right mood

Kim Sharma has spent almost eight unsuccessful years in the industry.

After 'Mohabbatein' all her movies have flopped miserably. She has been reduced to playing bimbos or second fiddle to the leads in no good films like 'Yakeen', 'Tom, Dick, and Harry', 'Kudiyon Ka Hai Zamana', 'Nehlle Pe Dehlla' etc!

No wonder the lass is frustrated no end.

The word is that Kim acts according to her mood swings!

If she's in a good mood she becomes great at giving sexy poses. So that very well explains all those glamorous sexy pictures of hers wit that 'false' pout of hers!

Catch Kim in the right mood, she apparently has a quite a lot to offer. In fact the people who work with her wait to catch her in the right mood so that the shoot goes well.

She's apparently very playful then and also displays her great love for animals.

But everything dramatically changes when her mood is bad!

The mood swings can be attributed to her being born on the Capricorn/Aquarius cusp (her birthday falls on January 21). But who knows, this very thing might have only worked against her!

After all, no one wants an irritating moody actress who can't act! A long affair, then a break up with cricketer Yuvraj Singh and now a single status! This lady needs to think over and do something drastic to sort out her professional and personal issues!

Aishwarya Rai kept under high security

Bollywood diva Aishwarya Bachchan is kept under tight security and director Mani Ratnam is making sure that no one from the media or her fans views the look donned by the diva for his flick Ravana where Ash is playing the character of Sita.

Mani always make sure not to release any pictures of his movies before the release. The shooting been held in the forest area is helping the director’s cause as no cars could reach the site and they need to travel in jeeps.

Arriving in cars, the stars get into jeeps for the final journey to the shooting spot. Even at this changeover point, Aishwarya is covered with a blanket or umbrella.

Well, it seems to be a z-level security for the actress.

Quantum of Solace - Movie Review

Cast: Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Gemma Arterton, Olga Kurylenko, Mathieu Amalric
Director: Marc Forster
Rating: ***

If "Casino Royale" was set up as a template for the new Bond actor Daniel Craig, "Quantum Of Solace" merely re-establishes this new order. All the major ingredients that go into making the Bond movies special are featured here. "Quantum Of Solace' doesn't thrill or break new ground, but it is still a very good Bond movie.

Director Marc Forster is an odd choice to helm a Bond movie since his previous hits - "Finding Neverland" and "Monster's Ball" - were not action movies.

While Craig returns to give a solid performance and the gritty style with raw action maintained from the previous movie, this movie does lack a coherent plot that at times undermines the whole viewing experience.

The movie continues with Bond seeking to find his lover's killers.

This Bond is very angry and leaves too many people dead in his trail. Bond soon finds himself in the midst of a nefarious plan of villain Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric) who is posing as a crusader for the environment but secretly has a more sinister plan.

Hunting the bad guys requires Bond to travel quite a bit and this gives the filmmakers a good excuse to stage some action sequences. There is a chase on foot through the streets, a chase on speed boats and even a battle in the sky with planes. Through it all, Bond maintains his cool but never cracks a smile.

At times the movie takes itself too seriously. This Bond movie may be the least fun of them all.

His desire to seek revenge casts a dark shadow of a mood through out the movie and some well timed humour might have been refreshing. Gone also are the gadgets, along with Q. The one liner innuendos are also missing and for the first time, Bond's signature "The name's Bond, James Bond" has been dropped.

The action sequences are disappointing. This was the most expensive Bond movie made and the action does take place in some exciting locales. But the director makes a minor mistake.

He choreographed the action from up close. We are placed right in the middle of the action, but we are not clear on what's happening exactly. Sadly, at times we don't want to seem to care.

The actors do a commendable job. Craig clearly suffers from a script that could have exploited his range in talent more. His character comes of very one dimensional.

The Bond girls Olga Kurylenko and Gemma Arerton are stunning but end up as props. They are not allowed to be fleshed out. There is a bit of a back story for Camille (Kurylenko) but even she is disposed off much like former Bond girls.

Craig is set to return for more Bond movies. He had a good start with "Casino Royale". With "Quantum Of Solace" he cements the new more gritty Bond, but at the expense of fun.

Here's hoping the Bond of the future will lighten up, have some fun, and not take himself too seriously. Not everything from the old Bond movies needs to be changed.

Raima Sen gets a very Sexy makeover

It seems Raima Sen is bored of that demure good girl image of hers. Much like Soha Ali Khan, Gul Panag and Minissha Lamba in the past!

Raima has shed her inhibitions and clothes for the latest issue of the famous Men's magazine Maxim.

The Bong babe is being pictured in black and white lacy lingerie set, no less!

Umm…so another actress is desperately seeking attention. Wonder if this sexy makeover will alter things for her!

Looks like the babe's fed up of being confined to art house films like Chokher Bali, 'Antar Mahal' or bit parts in big films like 'Eklavya', 'Parineeta', 'Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd' or worse stills super flops like 'C Kkompany', 'Mukhbir' and 'Manorama Six Feet Under'.

Some others like 'Meridian Lines' and 'Migration' have remained stuck for long. Obviously poor Raima is mighty bored!

Now she's 'Teen Patti', 'Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye', 'Sunglass' and 'Mumbai Cutting'. Well, it doesn't seem that these movies will do something great for her. After all she's been around for long, but looks like stardom isn't meant for her!

Since she doesn't have much to say about her career, she prefers to talk in detail about her November birthday and how she plans to celebrate it.

She's said to the magazine, "My birthday is on November 7th. I'm a typical Scorpio. Last year the party was at China House, but this year, I'm planning to have it at home. Nothing's been decided yet. My parents are really cool. The best part is that I won't have to worry about organising anything as they'll take care of everything."

We wonder where she's headed after this sizzling act! Lingerie ads? Well, anything's possible in B-Town!

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi - Music Review

Director: Aditya Chopra
Music: Salim Merchant and Sulaiman Merchant
Lyrics: Jaideep Sahni
Starring: Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Vinay Pathak.

The scion of the Yashraj Films empire, the selective maverick director Aditya Chopra, teaming up once again with superstar Shah Rukh Khan and that after the trendsetting DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE (still running in Bombay!) and the iconic MOHABBATEIN. Can the stage get any bigger? The obvious answer to that question will be given on December 12, for that is the date when the latest Aditya-SRK project, RAB NE BANA DI JODI will hit the screens, globally. For now, its time to check out the audio album, which this time around has Salim-Sulaiman and Jaideep Sahni, unlike Jatin Lalit and Sameer on the two previous historic times. So let’s press the 'play' button on the remote. And what do we have?

Lovely soothing 'santoor' sounds along with table play and 'payal' or bead sounds commence the most awaited romantic number of the year 'Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai' and it has been rendered by Roop Kumar Rathod. A surprising choice indeed but it has been done purposely because Rathod has a mature yet sensitive voice which suits the character of the simpleton, Surinder Sawhney, played by Shah Rukh Khan. And one must add here that Roop Kumar Rathod is brilliant as his effortless, flawless rendition (ah, his perfect diction is a delight) is highlighted due to some highly emotive singing. The superb love ballad has a nice, simple tune which is very hummable and borders mostly on its smooth flowing melody. It will definitely be loved by patrons of soft romantic songs. The highlights of the track are its beautiful lyrics by master craftsman Jaideep Sahni which take the song to a totally new level. Absolutely brilliant! Some might call the lyrics filmy, 'Tujh mein rab dikhta hai, Yaara main kya karoon, Sajde sar jhukta hai, Yaara main kya karoon', but its the ultimate form of expression for the beloved depicting the profound feeling of pure , unselfish love . And the song is capable of moving the listener as it grows with repeated hearing. It will certainly feature as a Valentine gift for all 'in love' couple, such is the overall effect of the number!

The slower version of 'Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai' is sung by the upcoming nightingale of Hindi cinema, Shreya Ghoshal and needless to add that she is simply magnificent here. What must be kept in mind that the slower version has limited props like background music and beats (they have been kept to the minimal), only Shreya's syrupy sweet (deliberately) quivering vocals stand out, loud and clear, and it is a delight to the ears. The song will most probably be used as a background number in a situational mode (when Anushka realizes her true love for Shah Rukh?).

From one beautiful romantic escapade lets move on to another beautifully haunting love ballad 'Haule Haule'. This is one number that we promise, even Shah Rukh Khan's adversaries will fall in love with. The simple melody is absolutely bewitching and the song takes the listeners in its grips, 'haule haule' (slowly, slowly). Yes, that's the beauty of the composition. Initially, it does strike as another sweet, simple to hum love song but slowly and surely it has the power to capture the heart. Its magic lies is in its simplicity, there is no massive orchestration to support it's cause, nor are there any flamboyant musical arrangements. The composers rely mostly on the simple melody with harmonium (may be even bandonion) and sitar playing a large part in its arrangements. Sukhwinder and SRK have always created magic (from 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' to 'Dard-e-Disco') and this time its no different. Sukhi is just marvelous and intelligently keeps his earthy, highly energetic vocals low key. The reason being that this time he gets to sing an all out romantic number and he proves his versatility by coming up with a perfect ace down the middle! Just like the previous number, the lyricist Jaideep Sahni once again deserves all the accolades (may be even more) for some lovely, effective lyrics. The similes that he uses are simply fantastic and the prose superb. 'Haule haule se hawa chalti hai, haule haule se dawa lagti hai, Haule haule se dua lagti hai na, Haule haule chanda badhta hai, Haule haule ghoonghat udhta hai, Haule haule se nasha chadhta hai na.' The moment the promos of the same were unleashed across major satellite channels on King Khan's birthday, the infectious number captivated the hearts of all die hard romantics and music lovers. Needless to add that the song has chartbuster written all over it what with SRK doing his cute little steps that have become a rage (so early on!) even amongst school going children.

Preity Zinta modelled her character in Heroes on her mother

Even as Preity Zinta's character in Samir Karnik's Heroes garners rave reviews it comes as a surprise to know that the role of the brave and dignified war widow is modelled on Preity's mother, Neelu Zinta.

Not only that, once Preity signed on, she worked for days on her character, language and body language with her director Karnik.

Says Preity, "The minute I read the script I knew I wanted to do it. You've no idea how many people discouraged me from doing Heroes. 'Arrey why do you want to play the mother of a growing child?; Tujhko log buddhi kahenge''. But I was adamant. I fell in love with my character. She reminded me of my mother. So many people have told me I look like her, especially in my shaadi ka joda.''

In Heroes, Preity plays a rustic Punjabi woman thrown into a crisis. ''It was easy for me to identify with the Punjabi woman in Heroes whose husband has died in the war. I come from an army background and I know what it is like to lose someone at the battlefront."

Preity unabashedly modelled the war widow's role in Heroes on her own mother. ''I always thought I looked like my father. But as I grow older, I think I've begun to resemble my mom. The other Punjabi woman I play in Heaven On Earth was much harder to play. I had no reference points except my director who held my hand as I suffered with my character for all the physical abuse she has to face."

Mujhse Shaadi karogi, Bips

That's what a cop from Srinagar asked Bipasha Basu

Bipasha Basu is in Kashmir shooting for Rahul Dholakia's Lamhaa but huge crowds and marriage proposals are getting in the way of her work.

A unit member from Lamhaa says, "Bipasha is one of the biggest crowd pullers we've ever seen. She's been shooting in strife-torn Srinagar for the last two weeks and wherever she goes sex appeal draws huge crowds."

Local cops and BASF personnel are providing security for the shoot, and accompany the actress and the crew everywhere. On one such occasion, one of the cops covering the shoot got so smitten by Bip's persona that he walked up to her and proposed in front of the cast and crew!"

The source adds that Bipasha was stunned. "Initially, she was flustered. Though Bipasha is used to men getting over-enthusiastic around her; normally, boyfriend John Abraham is around to handle awkward situations. This time, Bipasha had to deal with it herself. After her initial hesitation, she turned to him and politely but very firmly turned down his proposal. She told the guy that John was in her life and they both loved each other very much." The guy stood there bemused till the unit's security staff took him away.

Bipasha, who is still shooting in Srinagar, says, "The proposal is something silly. I don't really want to talk about it. I am here to work and not to get marriage proposals from cops. I wish they understood that."

Bipasha, who plays a Kashmiri girl in Lamhaa, adds, "Things are still not normal here. The Kash-miris are very sensitive and simple people and I think, because of the state of affairs for years, they take time to trust people. So we have a few problems when we go to shoot but hopefully after Wednesday's press conference, we will get their support and help during the shoot. The film is very real and my director is passionate."

Bipasha had last visited Kashmir when she was six years old but she's enjoying herself all over again. "I'm happy to be here even though it's a very sensitive area because it's such a beautiful place. But you see cops everywhere. Being an actor, it's not easy for me to go anywhere without security but that happens in all cities and Srinagar is not any different. I would like to feel it's normal."

Bipasha has a wish for the people of Kashmir. She says, "I wish them peace and prosperity that they deserve. I hope we can film here peacefully."

Shilpa injured, but not out of action

Shilpa Shetty’s got a wrist in plaster. She was rendered hors de combat while practising cartwheels for the new action film she is planning to produce that has been written by Mushtaq Sheikh.

“Either that, or I’ve torn a ligament because of the wear and tear of weight training,” rued the actress with the hour-glass figure. She’s been told to take it easy at least for three months. “So I can’t shoot for the film,” added Shilpa, regretting that her ambitious multi-starrer has to be on hold. But, undaunted, Shilpa has picked up all the scripts at hand and is reading them so that she can start working.

“It will have to be a script which is not complicated, less painful and not a multi-starrer,” admitted the actress.

As a first time producer, she realises a multi-starrer might not be the best way to go. “I wouldn’t get dates from the actors. It’s quite a difficult task. I kept other projects on hold because of my film. I realised that I had turned more of a producer and less of an actress. So now I’m going to turn that around and complete the films I’ve signed,” said Shilpa.

Looking at the bright side, she agreed that it was good thing that her mega budget film was hold during this period of recession. “Due to the global meltdown, the financiers want to cut down on costs which is not possible,” said the actress.

So, what does Shilpa Shetty intend to do now? “I’ll wear a long-sleeved dress to camouflage the plaster on my wrist while doing Big Boss for Colours. And a fat kada when shooting for Sunny Deol’s The Man,” said the actress, making light of her problems. For Gossips And Mirch Masala Log On To Bollywood Paradize

My husband is with me. What else I could have asked for: Aishwarya Rai

One of the world's most beautiful ladies has had all kinds of birthdays over the years. All good ones, some exceptionally memorable.

But the one tomorrow as she brings in her birthday, takes the birthday cake.

Aishwarya is lost somewhere in the thick jungles on the outskirts of Kochi shooting for Mani Ratnam's new film. So no parents and no adopted parents (the Bachchans) this birthday.

But wait. She is with her husband Abhishek Bachchan.

"And so here I am on my birthday with the love of her life, " Aishwarya laughed with girlish pleasure hours before her birthday. "In a way I couldn't have asked for more. It's a beautiful green paradise here. We started shooting just a day ago. And we already feel those vibes of an extraordinary happening. And my husband is with me.

So is my most favourite who directed us in in one of our best films together (Guru) and who incidentally also happens to be my first director. And we're working on the most beautiful film that we could ever hope for. What better birthday could I as for?"

Any regrets about not being with the family for her special day?

"It was just not possible. Mani Sir has been absolutely patient, waiting for me and Abhishek while we attended to Pa (Amitabh Bachchan). We started shooting yesterday only.

Any further delay would be totally unacceptable to both me and Abhishek. Both of us have been brought up to believe that work is worship….but when it comes to a family crisis, nothing else matters."

Falling silent for a few seconds as Abhishek walks in toask his wife if she's doing an interview before moving out, the epitome of gentle grace, Aishwarya suddenly giggles pleasurably. "But you know what? I've heard some whispers around here that we're getting Sunday off…a day after my birthday. But not a problem. We'll all celebrate properly a day later. No issues."

The past few months have been exctremely trying for Aishwarya. First her father's illness then her father-in-law's sudden hospitalization. But she continued to fulfil all her professional obligations.

She sighs, "You know the best thing is, through all these trying times all my professional associates and colleagues have been a source of strength and courage. There was never this feeling of, 'You better do it'. It was always a sense of, 'Are you sure you can do it?'.

I've derived great strength and sustenance from family friends and colleagues. And I want to take this opportunity to thank them from the bottom of my heart. Their love and prayers have kept me going through the last few months"

So what's the one gift that she wants this birthday?

"Ha, " laughs lovely diva, "You know me. I don't ask for anything. I already have everything that I could possibly want without asking for. And like I said I'm with the love of my life in the wilderness.

Sadly no one will be able to get through to me where I'm shooting. But all the sms, prayers and love will be with me when I return to civilization in the evening tomorrow. Yeah I miss my family on my birthday. But then I can't have it all, can I?"

Golmaal Returns faces copyright violation charge

The comedy film "Golmaal Returns" is a copy of the 1973 production "Aaj Ki Taza Khabar", a complainant told a film producers' forum Tuesday.

Shakuntala Bhatia lodged a complaint with the Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA) that "Golmaal Returns", which was released Oct 29, was a direct copy of her husband, producer Rajendra Bhatia's "Aaj Ki Taza Khabar", starring Kiran Kumar, Radha Saluja and Asrani.

She said she came to know of the similarities of the stories between the two movies only after she read reviews of "Golmaal Returns" in a Bollywood trade magazine Monday. She substantiated her claim, saying the reviewers had also noted as much in their magazines.

Bhatia claimed a compensation of Rs.50 million from "Golmaal Returns" producer Shree Asthavinayak Cine Vision as Kiron Production, headed by her, was in the process of re-making "Aaj Ki Taza Khabar".

"Golmaal Returns", starring Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor, Tushar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Arshad Warsi, Celina Jaitley and Amrita Arora and directed by Rohit Shetty, has already raked in Rs.450 million from domestic box-office with additional $10 million from the overseas market, according to Indian Films, which owns the movie's rights.

The movie's story has been credited to Yunus Sajawal and it has been advertised as a sequel to Rohit Shetty's 2006 production, "Golmaal."

I never questioned my absence from the poster

With the runaway success of Golmaal Returns the world over, several actors from the film have expressed their disappointment at being left out of the film's publicity or being shortchanged in terms of their role. We suppose everyone wants to be on the bandwagon of a super-hit film!

When quizzed, Celina Jaitly (who is in Auckland for the premiere of her maiden English feature, Love Has No Language) remarked, "I never questioned the film's poster designs or why I was absent in some of them.

It is the prerogative of the producer and distributor on how the film should be promoted. I demonstrated my support to the product by being there for all the interviews and appearances.

In fact, Tusshar, Shreyas and I were like these three musketeers who went all around town selling the film, and happily so. I'm pleased with the results, and as an actor, I'm gratified that Rohit (Shetty) has done justice to my role and character."

When asked about why some of the other actors were disappointed, she quipped, "The film has worked in a big way and has been drawing appreciation from all quarters.

The director (Rohit Shetty), producer (Shree Ashta Vinayak Cinevision) and distributor (Indian Films - Studio 18) have obviously done their jobs right!"

Upen's busy mingling with the girls only!

What's got into Upen Patel? Since all his movies are flopping and he's getting overshadowed in every other film (from '36 China Town' to 'Shaka Laka Boom Boom' to 'Namaste London' to ' Money hai to Honey Hai'), he's busy doing other things in life.

The angry young man celebrated Diwali with his mum in South Africa recently. He was reportedly busy enjoying and dancing with the girls there.

And that's not all. The single guy is very much ready to mingle too. After Amrita Arora, Shamita Singha and the Brazilian supermodel, he's putting his flirty ways to good use by looking for a new girl.

The buzz is that he chose to omit his male friends from the dinner he hosted at his home over the weekend.

His female model pals like Pia Trivedi and Mughda Ghodse were there. After dinner, they headed to the launch of Jean Claude in Bandra.

When his male pals asked him why they were ignored, he simply told them that it hadn't been planned!

Well, the guy wanted to do his thing, that's why he lied. As simple as that!

I would have loved to kiss Tanushree

Wannabe Saahil Khan tried his best to film a smooching scene with Tanushree Datta.

It was meant to be in 'Rama-the Saviour', a superhero film which he's producing and acting in. But Tanushree just refused to cooperate.

Apparently Mr. All Brawn- No Brains is a sad man today. His so called desire to kiss the Bengali beauty didn't materialize.

I didn't ask for any explanation fom Bebo: Saif

Imtiaz Ali who has just directed Saif's untitled home production has offered Saif Ali Khan a chance to make his dream come true.He may soon have his own Rock On kind of musical film to play the lead.

Divulges Saif excitedly, "It's a film called Rock Star. I don't know if I'm equipped to handle it. Rock music is about a lot of attitude. More than just playing with an attitude, it's way of thinking. I need to be more true to the music. It's easy to call any star a rock star. But I think it's more than your lifestyle. It's about being able to live your life the way you want."

Saif wants to work on the attitude and the guitar before doing Rock Star.

On Friday night Saif played the guitar for the charity concert for Bihar flood relief. He played the strings so hard his fingers were bleeding profusely afterwards.

"It has never happened before. My fingers are seriously cut. This is a sign of how seriously I played the guitar. And if I was a seasoned player that wouldn't happen.

So I want to pursue this seriously. As for my performance on Friday night I think of the two AC/DC songs 'Livewire' and 'A Whole Lot Of Rosie' I think I performed one really well the other not so well. But finally it was fine."

Saif now intends to pursue guitar playing on a war scale. He owns two guitars and he intends to carry them with him to all his outdoor shootings to play during free hours.

"I own two beautiful guitars …Fender Stratocaster(which Mark Knopfler and Eric Clapton own) and a Gibson Lespaul which was gifted to me recently by the company's branch in India. I think I'll start using that. I want my guitar practice to go on side by side with the shooting. I will travel with my guitars."

About the charity concert on Friday night Saif says, "It went really well. I'd rate my performance 7 out of 10. But I was floored by how well the Pentagram lead guitarist Randolph played, also Tushar who's done so much music for Yashraj Films…he played so well! In comparison I'm still learning to play the guitar. "

Saif is honest in his self-assessment. "I seriously need to get out of the amateur player's zone. I love rock music. It's very liberating. It's the same feeling as when we all went dancing as a teenager. The guitar helps me let off steam.

I want to play with a group of friends, jamming and enjoying myself without any care in the world. On Friday night I spoke to the other rock musicians. We've decided to play at some some smaller centres, colleges, etc."

Finally no regrets about Kareena not being at the Friday night concert. "Work comes first. We both have to work, yaar. She doesn't even have to explain. Even my children weren't there on Friday. They're in Delhi. There was a huge turnout."

Shah Rukh loves pretty young hotties

As SRK gets older (43 to be precise) his heroines seem to be getting younger with each movie.

He had great chemistry with the newcomers of 'Chak De! India' followed by the sizzling and dazzling act with 20 something Deepika Padukone in 'Om Shanti Om'. Now he's all set to romance another youngster Anushka Sharma in Yash Raj's 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi'.

So it's not Kajol, Preity, Rani anymore but actresses much younger to him!

The ultimate romantic hero of candy floss romances is romancing young chick with lots of grace.

The man himself has reportedly stated, "You bring any actress of today, all of them are younger than me! What can I do about it? I am so lucky to be surrounded by beautiful, young ladies all the time."

Talking more about the magical chemistry he adds, "Instead of these young ladies taking a cue from me about their performance, I have started acting and reacting in response to them, as a result I have started performing better and it shows as an improved onscreen chemistry."

Prachi Desai already in a controversy

One hit young. And Prachi Desai is already in a controversy. First she's said to have miffed her mentor Ekta Kapoor by refusing to do her film.

Now it's the Bhatts whom Prachi politely turned down, opting out of their much talked-about Jashan. First Sonal Chauhan. Now the suddenly-a-star Prachi Desai getting tremendous notice for her role as Farhan Akhtar's dutiful and beautiful wife in Rock On, has also opted out of the Bhatts' Jashan.

Apparently Abbas-Mustan who are working with Prachi on her second film Life Partner(with Tusshar Kapoor) have the actress contractually bound to ensure theirs is is her second release.

Disarming in her honesty Prachi doesn't beat around the bush regarding the embarrassing cul de sac. "It's true I'm out of Jashan. I really wanted to work with the Bhatts who have done such wonderful work with Kangana and other girls.

I said yes thinking the dates that were with Abbas-Mustan could be adjusted. Unfortunately it didn't work out. Fortunately the Bhatts aren't upset with me. We'll work together again very soon."

As for the supposed differences with her godmother Ekta Kapoor Prachi is cool, "Ekta, her mom Shobha Aunty and I are too close for people to try and spoil our relationship. We don't only share an actress-producer bonding.

I'm like a daughter in their family. And Shobha Aunty is as concerned about my film career. She advised me to wait until the release of Rock On before signing any new films. I'll always be relying on Ekta and Shobha Aunty to guide me through my film career."

Prachi doesn't flinch from admitting she declined a film offer from Balajee. " They had spoken to me about a film. But we hadn't signed a contract or anything. Like I said Shobha Aunty and Ekta have told me to do what is best for my career.

When I left their serial Kkasam Se it was a heart-wrenching decision for me. I had become a part of the Balajee family and I was moving into an area where I had no experience at all. Luckily Ekta encouraged me to do Rock On although the role was that of a wife and mother-to-be and I had to play a woman older than I am.

But then in Kkasam Se I played a wife and a bahu. So I guess those years of experience came in handy when I finally did my first film."

After Rajeev Khandelwal in Aamir, Prachi is the second Balaja breakaway actor to make it big in films.

"What Kkasam Se did for me in 2 ½ years, Rock On has done in 2 ½ hours. People used to say they wanted a bahu like Bani. Now they're saying they want a wife life Sakshi in Rock On.

And to think Farhan and Ritesh Sidwani's company used to get hatemail when they signed me on for their film. People were so upset because they felt a film career was taking me away from television."

Prachi is now done with television. "Going into films was a big risk. I was playing a character I knew little about. I was moving from one medium to another and also to an audience from a different age group. But I had age on my side. Even if I had failed there was enough time to make corrections. I'm so glad Rock On worked."

She credits the reality show Jhalak Dikhla Ja with creating a bridge between tv and cinema. "The reality show allowed me to be more myself. After being the weepy Bahu and playing a woman between 30 and 40 for so long I had fun dancing. I think Jhalak… got me Rock On."

Today Prachi has made her parents proud. "When as child I'd say I wanted to be an actress they didn't take me seriously. At last the people around me are taking me seriously."

RAB NE BANA DI JODI promo Rocks

As we had informed, so it happened. The much awaited song promo of Aditya Chopra's Shah Rukh Khan starrer, RAB NE BANA DI JODI, made a high profile appearance on Sunday, across all leading channels, to coincide with the superstar's birthday. And what a song and what a promo!

The teaser kickstarts with SRK in his common man look taking a bath under a tap, followed by his self cooked bread and butter breakfast, and not to mention that he even washes the plates! All the while, the superb harmonium rhythm accompanies the proceedings and finally the superlative number, 'Haule Haule' unfolds. The Sukhwinder–SRK magic is palpable once again. This is one number that we promise; even Shah Rukh Khan's adversaries will fall in love with! The simple melody is absolutely bewitching and the song takes the listeners in its grips, 'haule haule' (slowly). Yes, that's the beauty of the number. Initially, it does strike as just another sweet love song but slowly and surely it captures the heart! Jaideep Sahni as the lyricist strikes an instant cord with his simple but meaningful lyrics– 'Haule haule se hawa lagti hai, Haule haule se dawa lagti hai, Haule haule se dua lagti hai, Haule haule chanda badhta hai, Haule haule ghoonghat uthta hai, Haule haule se nasha chadhta hai!'

The debutant Anushka Sharma looking pretty in her usual simple 'salwar–suit', makes a brief appearance on a rickshaw. And she is there as the mesmerizing song ends which shows her applying colour ('gulal') to the bespectacled and moustached Shah Rukh Khan.

As the saying goes, well begun is half done! The RNBDJ song promo has received unanimous praise from all sections of the trade as well as the general paying public. So, with such a beautiful number first up we await even more eagerly for the launch of its much anticipated music album on 6th/7th November.

Wardrobe malfunction is very classily done: Priyanka Chopra

At Fame Adlabs on Wednesday afternoon when Priyanka Chopra walked the ramp for the last time in Fashion she got a standing ovation.

And the one to get the most emotionally moved was her dad.

Watching Priyanka Chopra play the small-town girl who leaves home to become a model in the metropolis was a deeply emotional experience for Dr Ashok Chopra.

Says the emotional daughter, "He just broke down. Watching my character Meghna in Fashion he saw his little girl from Jamshedpur going all the way to Mumbai to become Miss World.

In fact his sense of identification with that whole portion in Chandigarh where I'm this plump Punjabi girl leading a sheltered life with her parents, was very deep, " says Priyanka from Dubai where she attended the Fashion premiere on Thursday night.

"I identified deeply with those scenes where my character is trying to find her way in Mumbai. The only difference is my my character Meghna knows exactly where she was going. I had no clue.

Also, my dad never stopped me from pursuing my dreams. He was concerned yes. But never disapproving like Meghna's father. In fact my dad moved to Mumbai to be with me when I decided to move to Mumbai."

Days after the film's release there's a sense of outrage about the fashion industry being shown as a place of constant undercutting and heartbreak.

Protests Priyanka, "It's like that in any competitive field. We slogged hard on the research. Madhur and I gave our life and blood to the film. I was in discussions over the script with Madhur for five months before I said yes to Fashion."

Priyanka wore a short dress a Gavin Miguel for the Dubai festival.

Some cast members of Do Knot Disturb who were shooting in Dubai came for the premiere.

Says Priyanka, "We had David Dhawan, Lara Dutt and Riteish who were shooting in Dubai. Then we had the royalty from Dubai. Earlier we had a special screening of Fashion for the modeling world in Mumbai.

I had a ball catching up with the old times, screaming and shouting. The best thing is that the fashion industry supported us in such a big way. But people from the fashion industry love Fashion.

We've definitely taken real-life incidents from the ramp. Even the wardrobe malfunction scene is so poignant. The designers, models, choreographers…they were all supportive."

Carol Gracias whose wardrobe malfunction scene has been taken in Fashion, saw the film.

"She loved the film. Carol thought it's very classily done, " says Priyanka. "The coolest thing is that my film has taken an initial opening on the basis of one heroine's presence (me). That surprises me because that goes against the rules of the film industry."

BBC to produce next season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa

The third season of the dance reality TV show “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa” will now be produced by its original format owner BBC.

“Yes, it's true, if there is another season of 'Jhalak...', BBC will be producing it themselves as they have set up their own production office in Mumbai, and this time around they would not like to outsource it to a third party, ” said Siddhartha Basu, head of Synergy Adlabs that produced the previous seasons of the show.

The show, based on BBC's “Strictly Come Dancing” and loosely based on American show “Dancing With The Stars”, pairs celebrities and professional dancers to compete with other pairs in various dance forms on a highly competitive stage.

According to Basu, Sony Entertainment Television, on which the show was aired, licensed the format from BBC, and also commissioned the production from them. Sony TV then in turn commissioned Synergy Adlabs to produce the show.

While TV actress Mona Singh won the first season of the show, actress Prachi Desai bagged the top honours in the second season.

The next season is expected to go on floors in summer 2009 and dance maestro Saroj Khan might be one of the judges on the show.

I will do TV serials after retiring from movies: Rambha

South Indian actress Rambha rubbishes reports that she is doing television soaps and says she will move to the small screen only after taking retirement from big screen.

"People are making up stories on the basis of my judging a reality show on a TV channel. I may think of a television career if roles offered excite me. But that will happen only after I retire from the big screen. I am choosy about my roles, " Rambha told.

She accepted the offer to judge a reality show because she liked the concept, she said.

"I am still a sought after heroine. The forthcoming Tamil movie 'Vidiyum Varai Kaathiru' features me as the female lead opposite Prakash Raj, " said Rambha, who has done more than 100 films, including some in Hindi.

In a career spanning 16 years, Rambha has played lead roles opposite top Bollywood heroes like Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan, Suniel Shetty, Govinda and Mithun Chakraborthy.

Born Vijaya Lakshmi to Telugu parents, the squint-eyed actress adopted screen name Amritha and later changed it to Rambha.

Her uncanny resemblance to late Hindi actress Divya Bharti was one of her claims to all-India stardom.

Multinational companies reject Slumdog Millionaire

Mercedes-Benz and a multinational soft drinks company insisted on removing their logos from scenes in "Slumdog Millionaire" because they did not want to be associated with a Mumbai slum, the film's director says.

The film, based on Indian diplomat Vikas Swarup's rags-to-riches novel, premiered Thursday night at the gala closing of the London Film Festival to critical acclaim and is predicted to be one of the biggest hits of the year.

But director Danny Boyle told The Times newspaper that Mercedes-Benz and the drinks company believed their brands would be sullied if shown in a Mumbai slum - the film's setting.

He said Mercedes-Benz pulled out of a chase scene that culminates with a slumlord in dark glasses emerging from a white saloon car.

“The thing (you did not see) was the Mercedes logo on that car, ” Boyle said after the screening.

“We had to take that off because Mercedes don't want to be associated with being in a slum. We wanted to use a Mercedes because… this guy, this gangster would drive a Mercedes... But if you use Mercedes then clearly you have to get permission, and we asked for their permission and they refused it, ” the director said.

The paper said Friday Mercedes-Benz apparently gave permission for its logo to appear on the gangster's car when it was parked outside his mansion and on a car hired by wealthy American tourists.

Boyle also spoke about having to disguise the logo of a global drinks company. “There is a scene where the kids are on a rubbish dump and they get offered these bottles of… popular fizzy drink.

“Not only were we not allowed to use their name, basically we had to paint over the label on the bottle as well.

“So we ended up paying tens of thousands of pounds painting out these symbols which are meant to unite the world, aren't they?” Boyle added.

A new look for Sanjay Dutt and Kunal Kapoor

Designer Shabina Khan has designed a special new look for Sanjay Dutt and Kunal Kapoor who play the lead strars of Rahul Dholakia's (Parzania) next, Lamha. The film is reportedly a mature love story and is being extensively shot in Kashmir and deals about various subjects and issues including army, terrorism, Kashmiri Pandits mass exodus etc.

Sanjay Dutt's role in the film is that of an undercover cop. Shabina has given Sanju a new look that's absolutely stunning. Dutt has been made to looks raw and very rough and tough just like the way undercover cops look.

Kunal Kapoor plays a Pathan in the film. Shabina has stylized his look and costumes accordingly. Shabina did a research on the Pathan. Also with the kind of look that Kunal has, Shabina's costumes gel very well with his tall personality.

Anupam Kher plays a freedom fighter in the film. Director Rahul Dholakia says "It is too early to talk about the look right now but yes the film is based on Kashmir and will throw light on different issues ranging from terrorists, the army, the displaced Kashmiri pundits and the locals. Bipasha plays a fundamentalist and she would also do a lot of stunts in the film."

Ek Vivaah...Aisa Bhi is not a sequel to Vivah

Debutant director Kaushik Ghatak says his "Ek Vivaah...Aisa Bhi" is not a take-off on Rajshri Productions' last hit "Vivah" and insists that the family drama is a completely fresh project.

"'Ek Vivaah...Aisa Bhi' is not a sequel or a remake of 'Vivaah'. There is no carry forward of any character or the story from 'Vivah' in the film. It is a completely fresh project with a fresh story, " Ghatak told on phone from Mumbai.

"The film has been titled such because it is the story about a couple who stay away from each other for 12 years due to circumstances, but after a mutual understanding.

"The understanding between the two is difficult to find even in married couples. Their love binds them together for such a long period of time before they get married and that's where the title of the film comes from, " he added.

Releasing Nov 7, the film is written by Sooraj Barjatya and Ashapurna Devi and stars Sonu Sood and Eesha Koppikhar in the lead as Prem and Chandni.

Other actors include Alok Nath, Smita Jaykar, Vishal Malhotra and Chhavi Mittal.

Selecting the lead characters was not an easy task for Ghatak.

"I did a lot of study on both the actors - watched their films before meeting them. Eesha has done almost all types of roles and I think Sonu is a little underrated as an actor.

"When I narrated the characters to Eesha and Sonu, they understood the intensity and emotions of their characters as well as the story and were completely into it. Once I started shooting, I realised I could not have found a better Prem and Chandni as my characters, " he said.

Ghatak also says that "Ek Vivaah..." is personal to him and has an individual appeal, as it will allow the audiences to draw personal inferences while watching it.

"The surrounding of the story is very close to my heart. Like the protagonists in the film, my wife and I waited for seven years before getting married. Also, offering prayers to the basil plant and lighting the lamp...that the audiences will watch Eesha doing in the film...is what we have been watching our grandmother and mother doing in real life.

"Every little nuance from real life has been kept in mind while making the film and I am sure common people will appreciate and associate with it as their own story in their sub-conscious, " he said.

However, unlike other movies, "Ek Vivaah..." does not boast of an exhaustive pre-release promotion.

"Rajshri Productions have their own strategy of a slow release for their films. They want the audience to watch the film and appreciate it but they don't believe in over-publicising.

They have done whatever is needed to inform the people and now they want the film to get publicised by word of mouth, " said the director, who has been in the trade for almost a decade.

Not many people know that Ghatak forayed into showbiz as an apprentice assistant to filmmaker Anurag Basu, whom he regards as his "Godfather". He started his first independent show as a director with Bengali serial "Amra Povashi" on Alpha Bengali and with Balaji Telefilms' "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi" in Hindi.

He then wielded the megaphone for shows like "Sanskruti", "Shhh...Koi Hai", "Sanjivani - A Medical Boon", "Pyaar Ke Do Naam... Ek Raadha, Ek Shyaam" and "Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki".

Ghatak's works are known to be women-centric, which also shows in his movie.

The director said: "Women's psychology is the least explored area on the Indian screen. We always tell the story of the hero and not the story of the woman. I have always wanted to portray family values and explore a woman's psychology in what she goes through in life - handling it with a lot of love and respect."

Ghatak is at present waiting for "Ek Vivaah..." to hit the screens and is "juggling with a couple of more ideas" for a new film.

At the same time, he doesn't rule out returning to the small screen.

"I'd surely love to do TV some time in the future. TV has a kick of its own and is very fast paced. It has its own deadlines and meeting them is challenging, but fun, " he said.

The glum Kapoors!

Looks like once upon a time on-screen couple, Sri Devi and Anil Kapoor don't really share a warm relationship with each other off screen! This in spite of being devar and bhabi now! As we all know, Sri Devi is married to Anil Kapoor's brother Boney Kapoor.

The duo was seen together in public after a long time at the felicitation function of Anil and Boney's father Surinder Kapoor where the entire Kapoor Khandaan was seen together.

The reports are that at the function the brothers appeared sullen and not warm to each other. Same goes for Sri who seemed lost in her own world. It looked as if they were posing for the camera just for formality's sake.

Anil was the first one to leave the function thereafter.

Maybe they feel that looking grave would make people take them more seriously!

Kashmir's Mirwaiz Umer Farooq invites Sanju and party for lunch

The cultural assimilation of Kashmir into India just got a little easier.

In what could be considered a historic move to make Bollywood feel welcome in the troubled Valley, the Mirwaiz (official spiritual leader) Umer Farooq invited producer Bunty Walia for tea to his residence on Sunday afternoon, assuring the anxious producer that the Valley is open to Mumbai's cinema re-consolidating itself as a cultural centre.

And now the entire cast of Bunty Walia's Lamhaa including Sanjay Dutt, Bipasha Basu and Kunal Kapoor have been invited for lunch to the Mirwaiz's residence.

In the light of the troubled recession in the Valley of the Dal, this invitation from the spiritual leader who has the entire Kashmir Valley supporting his ideology, Walia's interaction with the Mirwaiz acquires huge creative and commercial ramifications.

Says the excited producer, "My tea invitation wuth the Mirwaiz went off really well. He turned out to be an intelligent and articulate man with a great knowledge of our cinema."

The Mirwaiz spoke to Walia of the great love that the people in the Valley have for Bollywood and how it can be renewed vigorously.

Says Walia, "Though the Mirwaiz doesn't have any favourites he said people in the Valley love Bollywood stars and movies. He was happy to know Lamhaa would bring such a large Mumbai crew to Kashmir."

Sanjay Dutt and Co's lunch with the Mirwaiz is expected to be fixed as soon as the unit catches its breath in the Valley.

"We hope to take up his invitation in the next two weeks, " promises Walia as the rest of his unit sigh in relief after having secured supreme protection by the top-most spiritual leader in the Valley.

I strongly feel that Singh Is Kinng really helped me: Sonu Sood

Recently, Sonu Sood got a first hand taste of the celebrity status he has gained post the super success of Jodhaa Akbar and Singh Is Kinng. He visited his home town in Punjab and was shocked to find that throughout his short stay there, there were 150-200 people thronging at his residence to meet him or at least have a glimpse of him.

On being queried, Sonu at first makes light of the happenings in his life. "It's ok, let's not make a big deal about it. It happens. I should consider myself as a real star once I start delivering hits all by myself. I am hoping Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi' proves to be a major happening in my career as a solo lead."

Sonu Sood acknowledges though that it has been the Singh Is Kinng effect due to which his presence in the home town was celebrated to such an extent.

"I strongly feel that Singh Is Kinng really helped me. After all, it was a huge commercial success, though it was only after visiting Punjab that I realized the impact the film has made. It is amusing to see people running behind you and absolute strangers visiting you at home. That's the magic of Singh Is Kinng ", says Sonu who had a good kick start to the year with Jodhaa Akbar.

"I guess I have been successful in getting the right balance of films on my plate.

There is a large commercial audience which wants to see you in a Singh Is Kinng kind of a setup while there are others who appreciate you more if you get to do an intense role in Jodhaa Akbar. It's ok, as an actor you have to cater to both the segments of society", he reasons.

What made him refuse Mukesh Bhatt's Jashn in that case? Wasn't this film (which is being directed by Raksha Mistry and Hasnain Hyderabadwala) allowing him to cater to any particular segment of society?

"Somehow I was not convinced about the script", admits Sonu, "I am sure Vishesh Films make great movies with great music. But I have to decide my own course too. I have some good movies of mine lined up and now for me to sign a film, it has to be something really exciting; something really better. In any case, why such a hue and cry about me choosing 'not' to do a film. In democracy, you are allowed to choose, right?"

Kareena is not ready to forgive the Bachchans

The Kapoors and the Bachchans have been thick Bollywood pals for long. Until of course the much publicized Karisma Kapoor – Abhishek Bachchan breakup happened!

Of late there has been news of the family friends getting back together.

But according to fiesty Kareena they are just rumours as nothing of that sort is happening or likely to happen in the future.

She has reportedly said, "The 'patch-up' decision cannot be taken individually. This one's quite complicated, since the two families are involved now. There's no truth to the news-report about our teaming together. There's no project on the cards either."

Apparently she was miffed with Abhishek too as there were rumours of him being responsible for getting her replaced with Priyanka Chopra in Karan Johar's 'Dostana'.

Kareena sings another tune altogether and says, "I have moved on. Karan is a brother and he has offered me a far more challenging role in his next film that will be directed by Rensil D'Silva."

It seems Kareena's actually not ready to forgive the Bachchans yet.

Abhishek had apparently also extended the olive branch and said that he would love to work with Bebo again as she was his first heroine which makes her very special. But Bebo really seems totally uninterested!

She's too busy concentrating on her career and enjoying the luck bestowed upon her (even a senseless 'Golmaal Returns' has done well) to think of the Bachchans! Maybe she'll change her mind when the days are bad!

Karan Johar finds Shilpa Shetty the hottest!

There were many options open for Karan Johar to do the sizzling item song – Shut Up and Bounce in his produced Dostana. Many top line actresses were willing to do this number shot in Miami for free for the sake of working under his prestigious banner – Dharma Productions. But Karan zeroed down on Shilpa Shetty. Why you may ask? Well Karan's reply is, "Because she is the hottest!"

He adds, "We finally zeroed in on Shilpa because she has the best body in town. She has done a fantastic job but credit also goes to choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant and music director Vishal Shekhar. Shilpa's number will be the introductory song along John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan."

Tarun Mansukhani who is making his directorial debut with Dostana too was impressed by Shilpa's professionalism. He says, "Shilpa was comfortable wearing anything for the song. We were to shoot the song in seven days but completed it in four days flat."

Shilpa agreed to be a part of Dostana immediately, not only because it was a Karan Johar production but also because it had her favorite team of film crew members such as – Manish Malhotra as the stylist, Mickey Contractor for the make up and Latika for her hair.

RGV ropes in Big B, Riteish, Gul for Rann

Ram Gopal Varma has roped in a huge ensemble cast for his up coming next, Rann. Apart from signing his favourite actor, Amitabh Bachchan to play a pivotal role, the maverick filmmaker has also got in Riteish Deshmukh, Sudeep (hero of Phoonk) Gul Panag and Paresh Rawal to play important parts.

Manisha Koirala too gets a new lease of life in Bollywood as Ramu has cast her too in his film. She is back to Ramu camp after almost six years gap since Company (2006).

"When News Channels, Political parties and Industrial czars are the principal movers and shakers in a film, there is obviously a tremendous scope for high drama.

This is not so much my conscious intention as the director of the film, but the very demand of the subject matter. Having said that, even the so-called high profile people at the end of the day are, 'people'.

And no matter how powerful they are, they are not without their share of insecurities, egos, jealousies, and dilemmas." states Ramu in his blog about Rann.

Explaining in details each and every cast member of his film, Ramu states - I really enjoyed the process of casting for the incredibly exciting and thrilling characters of Rann.

The cast of Rann -

Amitabh Bachchan as Harshvardhan Malik - The founder of the first ever private news channel in the country INDIA 24/7, the Harvard-educated Harshvardhan Malik is India's most respected media personality. He is a hardcore upholder of journalistic ethics. No wonder his Channel is battling for survival!

Riteish Deshmukh as Purab Shastri - Armed with a degree in journalism, Purab Shastri truly believes that the media should be the check point for the people of a country, and therefore, it should report news, instead of manufacturing news.

Purab's thinking sets him apart from most youngsters of this country. While everyone is chasing their individual dreams, Purab aggressively wants to work towards a better India. Needless to say, a clash between Purab and the powers-that-be looks inevitable. It is dangerous to be right when the government is wrong!

Sudeep as Jay Malik - A go-getter and highly aggressive and ambitious son of Harshvardhan Malik, Jay looks at his Dad's news channel purely as a business enterprise that must make profits to justify its existence. He hates that his competition is doing better than him.

Manisha Koirala Nalini Kashyap - She is the programming head of Harshvardhan Malik's news channel, INDIA 24/7. Having been in the industry for long enough, she has developed a practical view of how things operate here.

And this comes in direct conflict with what her boss Harshvardhan Malik, thinks. Juggling the cut-throat world outside with the idealistic universe of her boss, Nalini Kashyap has her job cut out.

Paresh Rawal as Mohan Pandey - It is every politician's dream to become the Prime Minister of his country. To that extent, the leader of the opposition Mohan Pandey is no different from his contemporaries. The only difference being - if the need arises, Pandey can and will kill to get the coveted chair.

Gul Panag as Nandita Sharma - The assistant of an ad filmmaker, Nandita Sharma someday hopes to bag an independent feature film. She is in a live-in relationship with her boyfriend Purab. Nandita is smart, educated, and intelligent.

She is also highly indifferent to what's happening in the country, and first thinks about herself and her man, before anything or anybody else. On both counts, she represents the youth of India.

Mohnish Behl as Amrish Kakkar - He was the first to have the VISION and the foresight to realize that even the business of delivering NEWS can be made ENTERTAINING.

Amrish therefore can be safely held singularly responsible for taking the television news industry to the dogs, or to the heights, depending on how you see it.

His channel is no less than a shady brothel, the content that is NEWS is no less than a cheap hooker, and Amrish Kakkar - the most powerful pimp around.

Rajat Kapoor as Naveen Shankalya - Apart from being the son-in-law of Harshvardhan Malik, is also one of the topmost industrialists of the country.

Despite this, he is the most insecure man on earth, and won't rest till he becomes the number one industrialist in the country. His best buddy Mohan Pandey becoming the Prime Minister of India will surely help his cause.

Raima Sen as Yasmin Hussain - An ex-model, and fiancée of Jay Malik, Yasmin watches TV, reads gossip columns, and for most part, takes everything that is dished out to her, AT FACE VALUE. She does not understand the intricacies of power games, and hidden motivations behind actions of people.

The resources at her disposal to know what is true and what is not, are limited. She is not innocent, and she is not clever either. Yasmin therefore epitomizes the 'common man'.

Rajpal Yadav as Anand Prakash Trivedi - A creative editor, Anand Prakash Trivedi has a knack for sensationalizing even the driest story and making it sound like the story of the decade with super catchy headlines. More than any filmmaker, he makes far better movies. Only, he calls them NEWS.

Well, looking at the starcast of RGV's Rann, one can say that this in itself is a 'breaking news'.

Hollywood hunks love Bollywood hotties

What's with our Bollywood babes bragging so much about being admired greatly by Hollywood biggies?

Will Smith has been a great fan of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's beauty and appeal for long. He's talked about his admiration for her openly and during his visit to India some two years back.

He also said that he had offered her the leading lady's part in 'Hitch' but she couldn't do it! Appearing in big talk shows in the US and doing a few small time international flicks must have made it possible for Ash.

We only wish this appreciation had actually helped her to bag a big mainstream Hollywood film as well!

The others have made sure that they are not left behind either. Mallika Sherawat had screamed from rooftops about Jackie Chan being completely floored by her. Later it appeared that she was shooting her mouth off for her 'few seconds role' in her disastrous international debut 'The Myth'

Pictures of Kareena Kapoor and Sylvester Stallone were splashed across the media recently. There were talks about him finding her pretty, wanting to work with her and so on.

However there were claims that Stallone only did the Bollywood film- 'Kambhakt Ishq' because he was in a financial soup. Maybe that's what made him talk overenthusiastically about Kareena!

Now there's news of Priyanka Chopra spending time with Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith at the opening ceremony of the Middle East International Film Festival (MEIFF).

Reportedly Banderas even expressed a keen desire to work with the actress and also talked about his knowledge of Bollywood and the financial leaps it has made in recent years.

The heroes haven't been far behind either. There have been Hollywood fans of SRK and mostly Akshay King Kumar after he shot for 'Kambhakt Ishq'!

We only wish the so called admiration would produce a true blue international star from India too much like how the South Americans Benicio Del Toro, Gael García Bernal, Salma Hayek etc or the South East Asians Jackie Chan, Michelle Yeoh or Gong Li have made it!

Or is it just big talk and no action for us?
